Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I'm 23.
Have been playing PES since PS1 days, Winning Eleven 6 to be specific.
Glad to see that the range of ages of players isn't narrow at all.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I never thought you were 51 years old :CONFUSE: Massive respect!

The clue to my age is in my avatar, I was there in 1972.
And guess what, am retiring next year. More PES time amongst other things.
I have 2 grandchildren who WILL play PES when old enough !

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I'm 34.

I still create myself as a 20 year old in PES and make myself the captain of my ML team. For the last few years I've been giving myself the ENFORCER, BOX TO BOX, LONG RANGE DRIVE skill cards amongst others.

I call my virtual manager BOB DICKFINGERS and give him the Valderrama afro.

That's all my guilty secrets. Feel much better now.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

If you release left stick on 1-2's as the command list says the passes seem more accurate.

I'm playing on manual, so it's quite hard to find the runner in his stride on 1-2s, that's why I always preferred X + R2 which doesn't seem to be the same anymore. I'm only going on the demo, but if you make a 1-2 even in your own half, the player will just keep running and running....and running right through in a straight line to the oppositions goaline.

Anyway, for what it's wroth I'm 30 soon. I did imagine everyone was older here on evo web, although I do wonder if Konami would be quite surprised that their market is the 'older' gamer.

I definitely feel like it's an age thing, I am a teacher and the kids at school definitely all prefer the more fast paced, on crack type of game. In fact they take the piss for me liking PES! So I already had in my head that the divisions probably are founded somewhere on age.

To me PES is more of a slower, continental approach to football (generally) over the series. A bit like Serie A games in the 90s that I am sure a lot of the 25+ will remember.

The younger folks are probably more used to the fast paced nature of Football in the last 5-10 years and understandably PES seems clunky and slow to them as that's their perception of football and with none of the main licenses that just tops it off.

That's an interesting point. Football, much like tennis as well, has changed a lot since I was a kid in the 70s. Prefer both sports the way they were to be honest.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Well since everyone is in the mode to share something here goes nothing...
I am 19 years, still at uni, finished first year.
I was introduced to PES 1(a Japanese version which i didnt understand what it said) by my bigger cousin who is 29 atm, and I fell in love with it from there on. Been following this site for the last 4-5 years as I moved to the other game as pes didnt catch up with the graphics in pes 2008 and felt i needed a change. But I never got that same pes feel so kept on checking this site and other sites to see if pes was back. Played pes 13 which i thoroughly enjoyed. And I made an account back in August to share how I was feeling about this new pes installment. Thats my story :)

hahaha, Pro Evo Anonymous.

Hello everybody. My name is ss4_goku and I'm 27. Been playing since WE3 back in 1998 and have been hooked ever since. I try to tell myself to stop, but it just won't listen to me. I thought that i'd be able to resist during the dark ages and stop for a while, but I just get hooked back on once a new edition comes and it doesn't seem like i will be able to stop this year.

I've been reading off this site earlier in 2002/3, didn't really join until 2004 and been reading and posting ever since.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

31 over here...pes fan since iss64. I think the first footy game I played was Apples vs Oranges on a demo floppy for the Amiga haha.

any news on what that 800mb content is? I suppose a lot of transfers and maybe some faces and stadiums? (didn't Konami announce releasing stadiums as dlc?)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

37 years young, love pes.

Wife thinks I'm mad sitting editing stadiums, using google images to get them as near as possible.

Never been a FIFA man, prefer something nearer to real football and this year we may just have the best ever

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Skipped to the last two pages and seemed to think I was lost in the age and introduction thread. :D

Massive respect to veterans of WE/PES. I'm in the tail end of my twenties now but my love for footie games hasn't withered any bit, hope to be in the same mode as you guys are in 20-30 years from now.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I will not go on talking about our ( surprisingly high ) ages but I think there is a connection between the love for the new PES 2014 and this age.
Younger people tend to find licences more important then the older gamers, who think of gameplay in the first place. That is because we used to play on the ISS series with very few ( if any ) licences. I am not saying younger people are not interested in gameplay, certainly not. Maybe I generalize a bit but it is my impression.
PES 2014 seems to be especially great for the older players because the gameplay has improved so much over the previous titles.
This year I am very happy with PES 2014 and if you see that this is done for current gen consoles, I think Konami has done a great job, despite some issues.

I hear what you are saying. But i must say the lack of licenses is something that i really do not like about pes. I of course agree that it is all about gameplay, but playing a team with the wrong teamname, kits and player names does take away a part of the realism.

I have skipped all pes editions after 2008. Bought pes2013 last year but hardly ever played it.
Been playing pes 6 instead. The reason for that is all the patches.
Its really great being able to play a league in all the teams own stadiums, having real chants etc.
I simply cannot thank the modding community enough for this, it really has kept the game alive.

So, gameplay Always comes first but i want to have licenses too. I'll be going for the pc version this year and eagerly await the mods.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I feel so young (not that I am not, but still) after reading those last few pages. I am only 21 (well, soon-to-be 22) and still stuck at university. Was FIFA fan until I got PES3 for Christmas present. From than on it is just PES

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Re: my PES1 comment a little earlier - I may be deluded but I genuinely feel that the latest incarnation has the same feel where getting a clear cut opportunity wasnt all that easy.

YouTube - Pro Evolution Soccer (PS2) (oddly looks a little quicker than I recall!)

There was a speed slider with about 10 steps if I recall correctly, that's why.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Firstly that video of PES has made me want to buy a PS2 again. Wonder if konami would release it as DLC for vita?

Secondly all this high jinx has cheered me right up and lightened the thread. Cheers all.
