Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

and here i was thinking that with my 44 i was the oldest here.
been playing consoles all my life, starting way way back with pong i believe.

It´s great to see people still playing video games at these ages.
I´m 38 and startet with that TV Console where you had two white lines and a dot and you could play tennis, basketball and stuff like that. Later on went to Atari 2600, then C64 etc etc.

By stupid peeps I´ve often been told to act like a guy in my age.
More serious, not childish.
But hell, that´s who I am, that´s how I grew up.
The elderly nowadays also like doing stuff they used to do when they were young, for example listening to Frank Sinatra, Classic tunes etc.

An me (and surely many guys around my age in this forum) will be sitting on the couch with a controller in my hand playing video games when I´m 80+ .

Interesting to see different generations.

Anyways back to topic:
Still playing the WE 2014 demo and can´t get enough of it.
I hardly have any complaints, just that sometimes the passing doesn´t work how I want to, no matter what bar I choose.
Maybe I really should try to get used to the analog stick instead of controlling by d-pad, but I´m oldschool :P.

I also don´t have any problems with floaty shots. I like ´em how they are (at least in this japanese demo). I hope the people complaining about them are aware of the fact of different player stats, mood, condition, weak/strong foot, situation etc.

Can´t wait for the final relase on PC :D

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Hopefully, as games have become more mainstream, those of my age (22) will be less condescending to gamers in 20 years time. We'll see. I'll be a shameless gamer either way.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I have been a member here for a few years but have tended to only read posts and have not contributed much. Suddenly as a few people have opened up about their ages I feel that I can now contribute to thee discussion.

I am 42 years old and have played football games for years - I remember playing loads of old games such as Emlyn Hughes International Soccer on Comm 64, Sensible Soccer, Actua Soccer, Olympic Soccer (great commentary by Alan Green), Fifa on the Sega Megadrive and a few more that I have probably forgotten.

I have always played PES over Fifa and have now reached a pivotal time in any Dad's life. Three weeks ago I took my lad to watch the Baggies on his 6th birthday and in the last few days he has joined me on the PES 2014 demo. His opinion is that it is AWESOME! Makes me smile so much - I feel like my childhood is starting all over again.

Mate, I've downloaded WE2014 yesterday and had 1 game.
I felt it much fluid and responsive compared to US demo, is that possible? Are you experiencieng the same feeling compared with other demos?

.

Yeah ive played all those. The best game was Kenny Dalglish soccer for Spectrum or 4 soccer simulator on the same machine.

Been a PES fan since it was ISS on the SNES. I have never liked FIFA - Although have tried it in recent years as PES has been poor from 08-13 with the exeption of PES10.

Even on the SNES is prefered Sensible Soccer to FIFA93

Same here and I don´t think that it´s a placebo effect at all.

I started with the US Demo and didn´t like it that much at first.
Checked the japanese one and it felt more fluid like you say.

My cousin (who used to play PES with me since PES 3, but went over to FIFA the last years) didn´t like the US demo at all and wanted to stick to FIFA. I convinced him to try the Winning eleven one and now he loves it and finally comes back to PES.

A lot of other people experienced the same in different forums.

Shuttooooooo!!!!

I loved the goalkeepers on Emlyn Hughes International Soccer - they used to dive on the ground and stop the ball with their head and then immediately get back up and stand in the centre of the goal again. I don't think that they had the ability to catch the ball. Makes me laugh when I see people complaining about the keepers on PES nowadays.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

Yes, I played them all too. When you think about it, there is already a big history of football games for the computer. Maybe Emlyn Hughes was technically the best if you look at the hardware it was made (64K memory!).

I'm 37 and I started with a commodore16 when I was 10.
But only with the C64 I started to enjoy football with games like Microprose Soccer and Emlyn Hughes Int Soccer (great great) and later my all time favorite GOAL! on Amiga.

After GOAL! only PES many year later gave me back some good footy times.... :)

I downloaded US, UK and Japanese demos and I find Winning Eleven to be the most responsive by a mile. At times the US and UK demos felt like playing an online game with a bad connection. The button delay was ridiculous.

I actually think that there is some form of issue with the UK demo because I played Bayern v Santos repeatedly (just by pressing Replay match) and the game became crazily slow - it was bordering on unplayable. After about 5 games I went back to the main menu and chose the same teams/same stadium/same time of day etc and started again. The game was then way better - there was still a 'weight' to it but it just felt like it was an inertia thing whereas before it just seemed like the players were running in treacle and the button delay was awful.

The Winning Eleven Demo has just been great from the first game that I played and I have played around 50 games now. It is brilliant and I really hope that the final version of PES 2014 is similar.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

I remember having a lot of fun with Microprose Soccer. Loved to be able to choose between an indoor and outdoor game.
Not meaning to bring it up again but it even had rain :P

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO PIRACY TALK, YOU WILL GET BANNED!)

46 around here, great battles with my son (14), cheers.
And yes kick off II changed my life ;)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

How are people finding the crossing? I think 95% of my crosses are intercepted by a defender. I did see one nice cross though where the ball went over the keepers head to the back post whereas in PES 2013 the keeper would have plucked it out the air magically.

Think you have to use the stick to direct it.

Great to ear that!

I've submitted the US demo to one of my PES mate (PS1-PS2 PES old time never converted to PS3 pes... etc etc) and he immediately write off the game after 1 hour of play saiyng it's too unresponsive and you know. And it's exactly what I think also.

But this WE2014 looks really different!

Ok, then no placebo at all...

Lami have you had some insight hint about it?
