Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I couldn't agree more Klashman. I do not wish to portray it as a generalized age related issue but there seems to be more of an instant gratification culture.

I rather like looking into the nuances of the game and being surprised by it over a few months and trying to master it.

Granted I do not have the time that I used to with family and work taking precedence, but I will still try and learn how to play it to the best of the games ability.

Undoubtedly there will be flaws. No game is perfect. No game can recreate the randomness of a football match.

The computing power to do that in a home PC as in creating individual AI for each player in a fully contextual fashion to other factors is not available as yet.

I have seen some flaws but I like where Konami are going and realize it's the first season with the new engine going gold and that it can be the basis of a very solid game which they to borrow from their own marketing speak , evolve each year.

However most of the time the complaining as on a certain forum reminds me of little kids denied a treat they think they are entitled to.

I think you summed it up absolutely perfectly there. gratification and self entitlement.

People want so be spoon feed with a bib like a baby their perfect game which caters entirely towards their ego.

This is not an age thing, we have a 'Man Child' culture and men and women who never really grow up who do this, or men and women who blame everything else for their issues and never wonder how to be responsible for bettering themselves.

These people do not realise in this current climate the old classic PES games would never had been loved today as they where back in the day if people who at the beginning of playing PES struggled wit them just moaned and winged 24/7 on message forums rather than try to master it like people did back in the day.

The best PES games back in the day where usually not great at first or rather meh or bad at first barbecue it was hard and too time to master.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

As someone going into the full retail game without having played a demo at all - something that I haven't experienced for years - this is going to be interesting for me.

All I can compare with is PES2013.

Perhaps this is the way to do it? No demo, as per the old days. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

Wise words. Unless they turn it into FIFA air gliding style, I bet we'll love it.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

My brother who has played the PS3 retail version called me a few hours ago to talk about PES.

He also mentioned the fact that Manual shooting is broken int he retail version. As soon as you engage the control shot feature, no matter how much you fill the power gauge, the resulting shot will balloon over as if you used full power. ALSO, the aim seems to always be locked diagonally right-down. Meaning if you are positioned in the middle of the opponents half and take a control shot, it will hit the corner flag.

Non-control shots are aimed and powered normally, also movement is completely normal, so there is no general problem from the controller input. The game seems broken here.

Hopefully this is something addressed in the day 1 patch, otherwise manual shooting is broken.
Reminds me of the FIFA bug some years ago where you could blast supershots straight from kickoff and score easy goals. Sloppy Konami.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Yes fair enough.

Believe me i'm not saying that the leaked demo was perfect im just trying to say that they are going at it the wrong way.

I enjoy the demo but it is just frustrating that konami every years seem to panic whenever release comes and they mess with things that aren't broken in order to fix issues but to a much lesser extent.

There has to be something wrong when the past few years I enjoyed the unfinished versions more than the proposedly more finished versions

I mean goalies are horrible for nearly 4 years, to me it's like give it up already and focus on other things konami, you're never going to get it apparently ;)

Just listen to this guy here: Espeically in green.

Let me tell you something: Internet ruined PES/WE. That's it.
Back in the day, you got the game and that was it, you had nothing else to do more than playing it and get used to it. Either loved it or hated it, but that was all you got. Nowadays it's like "oh let's see what other people can plant into my own mind to make me stop enjoying".

We have a culture where if people are not happy, they want everyone else to be a miserable as they are regarding their disgruntlement!

Interesting back in the day the game was also released late in October early November time, no '1.02' patches or DLC. Once it was out, that was it! It's different now, we get the game a bit earlier in September then wait until a November/December patch to have everything sorted throught patches and all sorts.

I think this will never happen with pes2014
Honestly i think it will neverhappen with Pes in general.Pes has never had players turning so fast like Fifa

The worst we had has been Pes 2012. i really disliked that game.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I've already said that to my self and on the forums more than once, I wish I went back to the days when you wouldn't know anything about the game development until the point you bought the game and played it.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

On the demo I'm really quite enjoying the new crossing system. Feels like you can whip in a cross to anywhere you like. Feels very manual.

Btw the graphics look much better playing in Konami Stadium, day, summer (Xbox)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

you'll need to try playing with the same variables as the same demo. Same teams, same stadium, same difficulty.

I agree

My frame of mind is not right at the moment so might have something to do with t.

Also been playing a little of the demo 2 on the Xbox today and much preferred that, it seemed to have more weight but again I was playing that on my plasma 55" tv which may feel different.

Will try italy v Germany on superstar lol

Yes,this is a true issue, and present in demo too.

yeah and it also helped create such a great game as well with all the mods / edits back in the day on PS2

agree.. and that is exactly what I believe many are seeing with PES 2014.. at least I am seeing that with the official demo.. this what I'm seeing.. the more you play it.. the better it gets.. it keeps you wanting to come back for more to learn it and master it. I can't believe the very few I seen that said they were done with the demo after 1 match.. lol I have played over 30 matches and I'm still seeing new things and learning the game and nowhere near good yet. This is one of things I love most about this game actually.

Correct manual shooting is indeed fooked...

Schrodiger's cat. Who's to say we wouldn't be exactly on the same place we are today? With a better game in terms of gameplay, maybe, but everything else...

I will try to be logged out as much as possible
I don't want to be influenced by negative opinions, or positive opinions too.

It has to be me and the game.

If it will be the same or slightly different compared to the demo i will be happy, otherwise i will insult people who complained about the inertia in this demo

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I'm getting the game on monday for 360. So great. I wonder how long will it take to have an OF editor so i can start modding it to make it a Classic PES. ^^

No, I'd definitely say it's an issue of age. At least partly. Not that this is exclusive to children as there are plenty of adults who are just as asinine, but football and video games have WIDE reaching audiences. They both attract a large number of children. A lot of children lack patience. I've seen plenty of other games "dumbed down" over the years due to people who'd rather complain that they don't understand the game's concepts or that it's too difficult (therefore it's boring and broken) instead of taking the time to learn said game, or play something else altogether. It's been a problem ever since gaming blew up. There's very little room for niche games anymore.
I don't know where all of this is coming from, but I surely don't agree.

PES 2014 final game feels the same as PES 2014 official Demo and leaked Demo. The only difference is that the final game feels more responsive, smoother and the catch-up bug has been toned down A LITTLE (not completely).

People start to think "oh the full game can be so different from this amazing demo" so early that once they get the full game they are convinced that it's different.

Let me tell you something: Internet ruined PES/WE. That's it.
Back in the day, you got the game and had nothing else to do. Either loved it or hated it, but that was all you got. Nowadays it's like "oh let's see what other people can plant into my own mind to make me stop enjoying".

People are quick to latch onto other people's opinions and treat them as gospel. Negativity spreads like wildfire. That and the fact that social media has been on the rise over the last several years. Everyone has an opinion and their opinion is easily accessible to the entire internet. It's a constant barrage of polarizing thoughts and it all becomes a bit much which is why I try to steer clear.

After 2 days of hammering the game. For me the gameplay is the best football game of all time. I dont want to be hyperbowl but konami have made a great leap from the demo. it just feels soo good. just want one more game.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

so guys who played it say retail version is worse than demo?

who is responsible for that? wenb and adam?

i really liked e3 clips and some gamescom ones.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Thread has gone crazy. Some people not overly impressed with the game and trying to force others to think the game is awful because of their opinion.
