Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

But the whole thing with the stadium editor was that you couldn't do that at all. It was pretty much impossible to create anything that looked remotely like any famous stadium anywhere in the world.

This isn't making excuses, this is separate point saying some of the stadiums did look like very good real life replacements.

What you could do with it was make decent generic stadia, e.g. small open-bowl Italian stadium, open-square old-fashioned English stadium, high-sided open-stands Spanish stadium etc etc. Because Konami couldn't be bothered to include more realistic generics in the game (which EA manage to do every year, on top of their licensed stadia), it was kind of necessary.

I disagree. Eastlands (Etihad Stadium) was so piss easy to make, with my stadium assignment thread. 'Europa Moderno' Was essentially just Eastlands.

Some stadiums however like Ashburton Grove (Emirates) Where just impossible to make. Some stadiums, Goodison/Central Road looked very similar also.

It was perfect though for creating many useful nice generic looking stadiums.

I don't think anyone really thought those Premier League stadia actually looked remotely like their real-life equivalents, but it was better than playing those games in some kind of mega-dome.

And yet we're allowed to import kits, sleeve logos, sock logos etc? I'm guessing that's next on the EA hitlist. And that will be the end of PES, and indeed the end of any competition whatsoever in football gaming. Enjoy it while it lasts.

In the meantime, we really do need to get on to Konami or their much-loved PR man re. a DLC of generic stadia. I mean, really they should have made some licensed South American stadia like they did the Spanish ones last year, but hey - that takes time. I would imagine that converting the PES 2013 generics would take a lot less time. No reason whatsoever why they can't do some before Christmas.

I just think Konami should say 'Go fuck yourselves EA', we are putting Stadium editor in and doing as many save slots as possible for our editing tools, fuck you, we will hire a hotshot army of lawyers to show we don't have licensed material in our game and there is nothing you can do about it and we can research and snipe at your game for including commentary referring to the Champions League and all sorts.

End this exclusive licencing nonsense for good. PES have nothing EA can't have themselves, not even the champions league, that is not 'so' exclusive the PES at all. EA could have it also if there wasn't a issue between FIFA and UEFA since when EA had it they created a separate game and refused to put it in the actual FIFA game.

Maybe instead of trying to buy out the competition instead EA could just make a good game for once, instead of trying cheap tricks to trick people into buying their games then a week later discovering it's the same old, same old with new bugs. This would be great for both games since EA would really have to deliver quality instead of using, their old, dirty tricks every year.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

It is more fluid. I realised it too and many others share that opinion.

Defo found it more enjoyable can only hope final realse will be the same. Otherwise I think I'll get that one hoping I'll still be able to change commentary to arabic

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Just in case anyone hasn't realised it (and I didn't for days) attacking headers are very different in this PES (demo anyway).

I've had much more luck by hitting shoot as the cross is in the air, letting go, then using the right stick to try and get in position. That seems to be the trick.

Not very intuitive, but works miles better than anything else I've tried.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

It's not the same old WENB. Old members left the ship or banned. New user, new attitude. Nuff said.

I think people aren't used to the new dribbling control, probably not aware right stick (weight shift) play a significant role as well. After all it was one of Konami promise to rebuild the dribbling system, they want to move on from the old zig-zag glued ball dribbling mechanic.

PES 2013's dribbling was actually really good and intuitive, you couldn't spam it easily like in 2012. Its very contextual with foot placement and momentum/inertia playing its part.

2014 is good as well, and harder!

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Im watching that stream of the full game, and to me it's starting to look more and more like pes 2013.

they really have screwed too much with the passing and shooting imo. Probably to "fix" the bad goalies and the horrible awareness. really dissappointed. With every change KONAMI make they turn it into something that looks more like pes 2013

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Can u pls post up the edit mode for kits like the image for sleeve shorts etc

I came across the video on youtube mate,i don't have the game yet, sorry.

-.- dont draw conclusions from a stream, lets just wait to play the thing properly, retail version with the release day patch.

i'm also drawing my conclusion from comparing the first leaked demo (in which i thought the passing felt perfect) to the official one and from what has happened in past year.

That patch will probably make it even worse, it won't fix things it will just cover them up by screwing with other parts that weren't broken.

Every year it's the same thing is all

And here we go again again and again

wait for next code, wait for retail, wait for day 1 patch, etc. etc. etc.

I wan't to hope as well, but the chances are close to 0 if anything relevant changes now..

I tried to like it and played it for 2 hours today as well, but I can't.

The problems like player awareness, catch up bug, awful presentation etc. etc. and the list goes on..

My experience differs. I put enough time into the stadium editor to know that the end results were unsatisfactory when trying to recreate real world stadia. Stands were too far from the pitch for a start and there simply aren't enough components to create anything to a realistic level.

The last paragraph I quoted stands, though. It is useful for smaller generics.

The removal of the stadium editor is either because Konami too willingly bowed-down to EA's rather tenuous legal request, or simply the editor wasn't ready for the new engine and we've been lied to.

You should know he changed passing assistance and shooting assistance many times
He is just testing the game right now

You're in a minority, let's just wait to play the retail, and the post-patch version and see, instead of speculating?

Hmmmm Thought so. Reading jimmys impressions gave me the same impression.

I hope konami dont make it turn on a dime stuff then. It irks me that people play the game and instead of trying to learn the game and understand the nuances they dismiss it as a flaw.

Its been the bane of PES for a while now which is why I was happy that konami didnt have 2 demos with feedback. Here's hoping mate.

Me too. People don't seem to realize some of the passes they pull off in certain games are impossible in real life and not in accordance with the laws of physics.

I hope they have retained the inertia of the first demo. Some people seem unwilling to spend time with the game and learn and enjoy along the way the nuances of adapting to it.

Bitter nice last minute chip with Messi. The goalkeeper animation for it wasn't great though.

Some of the defenders were not very active in pressing I noticed. What level was it ?

Also when you are 1-0 down with a minute to go Real Madrid replaced Khedira with Casemiro....not exactly what you would expect.

This sort of contextual AI in response to the scoreline needs to be improved from the CPU.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Soundtrack

Carnival de Paris - Dario G
Guajira Guantanamera - Elbicho,Ojos de Bruno....
Para todos futbol - Sergio vainikoff
Nick - Konami
High rollin - Konami
Lords of the arena
The everlasting view
Nessun dorma
Aida grand match
Requiem dies irae (choras)
Jupiter, combined version

So yeah...

Neat. The popular indie-electro music was sort of an awkward phase. 2008 gets a lot of stick but it had a better soundtrack than in previous years. I don't want to hear The Klaxons ever again.

And two days after release I can't help myself due to changes in new demo, leaked demo was more hardcore than this one. Better shooting, passing and running with the ball. These three things for me are changed to worse. totally different "PES" feeling! Leaked demo I was playing with pleasure, this now with bitterness

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

AI vs AI on broadcast camera angle is just awesome.

Also I love the headers on this game, bullet headers, looping chip over the keepers, neck twisting leg kicks and the hang time style ones. They all look so life like.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Mods - you should amend title of thread to "NO WAREZ/FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!" in anticipation of the no doubt forthcoming illegal versions...

Thanks :)

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

What did i say?

Demo was better than final game? Check

Sad to hear that :( Does everyone that played the first demo have the same sentiment?

I think they had planned to have it in but working on this transition to the new technology forced them to leave it our or indeed do anything with other modes.

Yes people will complain if one mentions wait for next year. But with a few touches here and there the gameplay looks more than sufficient to be the basis of a solid game for a few years.

No code changes in that period would then allow modders to build their expertise and we would gradually accrue more faces, stadiums as with PES5-6.

I would like Konami as a company to realize they do need to spend a little more in terms of acquiring licences particularly in their heartland for stadiums.

What EA has been up to is their usual modus operandi. I will never play an EA game so long as I live.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

The problems like player awareness, catch up bug, awful presentation etc. etc. and the list goes on..

Player awareness?

No, that is 'General Responsiveness' Not 'Player awareness'. This seems to be an issue with the LOD more than anything, possibly the overload of the PS3 is making a few things run slowly or not execute properly sometimes.

Please get it right. There is a difference between absent AI programming where in a single instance nothing happens and at moments where the game 'Lags' usually in the box, some defenders, goalkeepers and attackers lose responsiveness.

It's so easy to see, but people go into extreme negative mode, just pick any reoccurring word and slap it down.

People need to look into things better rather than just follow what someone else said on a online forum.

I liked PES 2013 also, go on, have a got at me, call me a noob and say its not as good as PES6 or 5, follow the crowd liek everyone else does.
