They took out the League so more people would see their boot-ads in the Master-League.

There is definitely some catch up going on, I have managed to catch attackers who were as good as gone, the defender just takes these huge strides to get him, not all that unlike the running gif on the previous page.

For those who complain about not being able to perform first time shots or headers, all I'm finding I need to do is make sure I let go of the shoot button before the ball reaches the player. Not had any problems in this department.

I have tried exactly what you said and I scored a header first time at trying!
and every cross since then I have challenged for, flying volly's and diving header included.

If you have a problem with heading shots make sure you release before the ball arrives at your player and it will fix everything.

This helps saving money...

First year I will not buy a soccer game. This demo is a huge disappointment for me. A lot of things are very good and improved to last versions:

- passing works fine
- teammate AI is much better
- graphics and animations

so far so good, but:

Response and reactiontime is so damn bad - what were they thinking about?
It feels like a torture for me to play it, dribbling feels not right to me, but the worst is shooting. if you are not sprinting it takes ages after pressing the button if the shooting will be executed. WTF?!?!
Once you running with speed it's ok - than the shots are quite good. At all this is so annoying to me. I hated this all the 15 games I played so far.
Other negative points:
advantage rule?!?! does not exist!
tackling is great, but still clear tacklings are whistled as comitted fouls, too often - still bad.
set piece system: WTF?!?! Why changing a well implemented mode to replace it with such a stupid one?
Chipped through balls are still way to easy and effectiv.

Too many things that piss me off, right from the first seconds of playing the demo - not a good sign to me...
I have the feeling they were concentrated in implementing shiny and fancey feints and tricks during the gameplay, too much. For me this is useless crap as long as I stuggle with this unacceptable response and reactiontime. I don't know if this is an issue that comes with slower pace of the game itself. In general the gamespeed is quite ok, but response needs to be improved. Unless this will be corrected, no PES for me. Using SPEED +1 or +2 in final game is no option for me, as online it will be 0 - and I usually play with my mades online due to the face they all moved to different towns...
I really hoped this would bring back the feeling of good old ps2 era, but it doesn't. At this point Konami lost the first of two last chances to give us back a propper PES. I will wait for next years PS4 version. If this is not improving at all, I will quit with PES and all soccer games, because right now FIFA is much more worse...

This breaks my heart a little bit, because I am / was really addicted to PES...
Luckily this year GTA V comes and will dry my tears very quickly...

Keepers feel terrible in demo 2. They concead so many goals and react very late. Demo 1 they were excellent. I knew konami would break something

They where alot better in demo 1. Game feels faster aswell too fast. Graphics are not as good either. I hold no hope for keepers on retail code as its something konami cant get right or break it. Demo 1 2as fine except for input lag and glitches. After playing demo 1 pes was back. Playing demo 2 its worse and back to broken. Disapointed.

Exact opposite for me. Seeing GKs doing more saves and better on the near corner too. More animations too. They're more responsive to situations as well.

To call demo 2 "broken" though...

To call demo 2 "broken" though...

I agree demo 1 keepers were a joke demo 1 was unplayable after a while cause of keepers.

They're definitely not perfect though, but in demo 2 they've been obviously better.

One GK bug I saw was when I scored a volley, the ball went right through his chest. That's about it though.

Oh remembered another one. Last night after my GK chased off the CPU player off the 18-yard, he really took his time to go back. He should've ran back when the defenders got there.

Re: Difference between US/UK/JP demos. Placebo or not, I've only won one game on US demo as opposed to the UK demo where I won all games I've played so far, the last one being 4-0. Still unsure why so will need to test more. I play regular difficulty on both. Played the JP demo once so can't comment there.

Hope other members here can test as well.

That must be the reason why I'm having so much trouble with dribbling right now.
I use the R1 button too much so i guess i have to admit it : i'm a sprint whore.

I have stopped buying pes after pes2008, still playing pes6. Coming from pes6 to this i really notice the unresponsiveness of pes2014, and the button lag.

There is nothing wrong in sprinting if fatigue system and stats system are in place and working, then don't worry.
Have a sprint is a joy and very satisfying.

I agree with you and other guys who complaint about responsiveness and reaction times.
And like you I'm not able to enjoy a PES game since PES6 or a PS2 PES (which are still real PES as in the past even after 2008).

What I feel is that PES2008-2010 were still PES but broken and since PES2011 Konamy took the route of FIFA.
For me was clear from the first seconds that PES2011 had something different and tried to mimic FIFA style of play and appearance.
Konami sold their soul in that moment IMO.

Now we have PES2014 which overall is a good game but saying it's a true PES is lying to ourself, it's so far from being enjoyable and addictive as PS2 PES is used to be.

If you have used manual shots there is no way you can go back to normal shots. Manual shots are so much more powerful. With normal shots I get a lot of theses weak annoying shots all the time. With manual shots I'm like Hot Shot Hamish every time.

I think people aren't getting used to it. There are plenty of small stuff you need to experiment with such as manual d-line and combination play. Also the heart, fatigue and stamina might need better understanding too.

I also seems to remember Adam or somebody from Konami mentioned they want to rework the way the dribbling work. They don't want the ball to glued to the player feet like it always did in the past. Hence the dribbling is bit different this year. Maybe it was True Ball Tech or something like that, i can't remember.

Don't rush yourself, take your time.

Yeah I do agree keepers aren't perfect in demo 2 but compared to demo 1 there is a significant difference I believe, as for the 3 demos out there, iv enjoyed the Japanese version the most. I haven't downloaded the UK version is there a difference between us or UK, cause iv noticed with the us version there's slowdown during gameplay.

Yea try the UK demo as it might feel different to you.

Lami as a veteran you know very well that a PES game reveals himself in weeks or months... then we have to wait at least the end of the year to say things like that IMO

In the recent years (let's say post 2008) I'm used to see people here talking about swithching between PES and FIFA or just only comparing FIFA and PES, for me that is unthinkable.

This is a sign of the trend.

If you love PES (the classic one) you can't compare it with FIFA and for sure not replace it.
Probably is just me but I've never been able to play FIFA (I tried) whereas I used to play PES to death for months.

I have to agree with Gab here. I only had 1 quick game before work this morning and a few minutes in the training area. Using the manual modifier, those shots felt right whereas the assisted shots didn't appear to have the right acceleration to them. Maybe not too slow as such but doesn't feel like it left the boot right.

Again, I need to play a lot more tonight before I can confirm or deny this view. I am looking forward to spending more time on the pitch tonight

p.s. Lami - the reason I was responding to you and not Gab directly is I wanted to ask whether or not the advanced shooting has the power of manual shooting but not the aiming difficulty?

Yea same here. It'll surely take a while before I master it.

Just like you had your first impressions of it though I'm having mine and that's how I feel so far.

About PES PS2 games, I remember hating every new PES game for a few weeks, simply because I'd played the previous version throughout the year and completely mastered it, only to have a new one out that plays a bit different that put me off, still stuck to it a few weeks to discover it's miles better than it's predecessor.

This time it isn't the same for me though because I haven't played that PES game on this gen that got me through a whole year and completely mastered. I did enjoy some but never fully. So that first few weeks of hate for me isn't there. It's more testing a new game if it's up to my footballing brain expectations.

p.s. Lami - the reason I was responding to you and not Gab directly is I wanted to ask whether or not the advanced shooting has the power of manual shooting but not the aiming difficulty?

personally i can't stand advanced shooting. It really irks me.

In general i think the game is beautiful. it's funny playing against another human player who hasn't quite got used to the defending, you can just breeze through haha. you've got to be a LOT more careful before you commit to any form of challenge.

I definitely don't believe that there is a catch up bug, it seems perfectly fine to me.

The only other thing i dislike about the demo is the player switching, but that's been done to death so no point in me going in to that.

I still really hate the magic balls at free kicks and corners. even though it's pretty impossible to get a nice set piece off with them with the balls off until you get used to it by practising. I guess it's difficult to bring in a whole new way of doing something and not give the user some hint of how it works, you cant expect everyone to enter practice mode. ah well.

The slow motion feeling whenever I'm attacking going down the middle (the same happened when the CPU attacks me) is pretty clear for me.

It's something so notable that I'm actually surprised with the fact that no one has been mentioning this here, so I assume that this is happening on the US demo since almost everyone here is playing the Euro demo.

I concur with this. At first I thought it was hardware slowdown, but it seems to be coded-in. It has nothing to do with tapping the sprint button. It's by design - I suspect to counter the speed whores - but it is too much.

Also:

-Ground through-balls are virtually impossible, whereas beautiful lofted through balls are extremely easy (I'm on 1-bar passing)

-When taking a standing shot, you need a lot of room and it takes ages to swing the foot. Maybe I'm missing a trick.

- I'm also having real problems with player switching, especially in defence. It needs fixing.

- The power bar will take some getting used-to. It doesn't allow you to adjust the strength after pressing shoot.

Overall, loving the player controls and the build-up play. Scored some nice goals already - including a few headers. Still feel I have a lot to discover and looking forward to the full game (esp on PC )

Have they removed the player switch on the right stick Option? I could have sworn on 13 you can have semi assisted player swapping and use the stick but it doesn't work on the demo for me

Anyways here is my view of the game so far(console version demo)

Cons

* Terrible graphics. I do feel for console fans. This game really stresses consoles.
* Replays are slow and terrible performance.
* First time I said this but the nets are not good. Its like shooting against a brick wall.
* Hate the free kicks path crap. Remove it please from the game completely

Pros

* Ball feels like it's own entity. More than fifa for that matter.
* Collisions are on par if not better than fifa as players react and fall differently in the correct way.
* Shots have a nice balance of weight and power
* Pace of the game is spot on.
* This game has potential to look amazing on pc.
* Ai is great even on regular level as the team AI make runs for you to get into space and so does the opponent AI.
* Animations are amazing. slightly more animations then fifa from my initial play.
* GK are great i.e. they save shots that they should do and they let in stunning shots that only superman can save
* The tactical side of the game is more in depth then ever(will test that out properly tonight).

My impressions are based on about 10 games i played using various different teams and opponents.

You have to hold the player switch button THEN flick the right stick I believe.

Search for World Soccer I think, I tried searching for Winning Eleven but it only found Winning Eleven 2013.

Advanced shooting is real nice. Much meer freedom than basic, but easier than manual.

So much happier with this demo than the leaked demo, far more polished and makes all the difference.

Playing Manual passing with advanced everything else currently, seems like a good mix.

Yep, this is really a next gen game & engine on a current gen platform, and the ps3 is really struggling to run it, apparently the 360 performance is better.
