Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

mmmm first impressions, looks lovely, AI is ridiculously easy. Hammered Spain 3-0 first game on Top Player, they barely had a sniff. They just don't seem to close down at all, and the defensive line is all over the place.

Really?!

I was just about to post saying the opposite, that the AI are all over you like flies. Constant closing down, pretty much every tackle is a full-blooded charge resulting in players constantly holding off the defender. Defenders never seem to stand off, it's almost like Konami really want to show off player strength and have made the AI like some crazed lunatics desperate for the ball.

Considering it's supposed to be a new engine, I can't believe the same "ATTTTAAACCCKKKKK!!!!" mentality is still in from the CPU of PES 2013, with the ridiculously easy possession for the user as well. Because the CPU acts like a mad man so much, you can knock the ball around it easy enough and games always seem to result in 70% possession for me.

I dunno, I feel like the full game might give a better impression with longer matches and more varied teams maybe, but this just feels like PES 2013's basketball mentality from the CPU, except this CPU also carry knives and are determined to do whatever it takes to get the ball back.

Needs more games but from the (excessive IMO) hype in here regarding the leaked demo, I can't say it's the best football game ever, or even far better than FIFA 14 based on respective demos.

Edit: Playing as Superstar as well.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

Woop woop 34 mins to go

16 mins here, although usually the second half speeds up.

Myself and Alfie (my son) have just played over 90 mins of the leaked demo and are both fully aware of what's what. The differences will be very apparent after a couple of games so I will leave feedback after that.

And for the umpteenth time, and Bhatti, if you're reading, WTF with the 5 minute matches ? 10 minutes is the absolute bare minimum for a true PES experience, at least offer that next time FFS.

The demo was 10 minute games a couple of years back, why change it ?

Flawed Genius, typical Konami.......

Maybe it's fine as long as they don't mention the UEFA.

The German commentators in PES 2013 are also talking about the Africa Cup of Nations although the tournament itself is unlicensed.

You might be right but do you think Konami can say "World Cup" in PES? or "Premier League? last time I checked, they were cald International Cup, and Premier Division. Konami should then push the envelop and call these cup/leagues as closely as possible.

Re: PES 2014 Discussion Thread (NO FIFA DEMO TALK IN HERE!)

I have a PS3 and a 360, got the 360 one since i didnt know that it was out on PSN :p.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS!

- This game is hard. Dribbling really is the key in this game, doing the training in training mode really helps show this feature off. You have so much control from simply dribbling. At one point i was controlling Villa, and danced around 2 defenders and had a breakaway, sadly i hit the post. But with dribbling playing such a huge part in this game, i feel like those who master this skill, will be the winners. Dribbling with players like Messi will be a dream.

-Shooting, feels much like WE9LE to me. You can definitely feel the 'weight' of the ball when its kicked.

- Camera, it somewhat 'lags' behind the play. For example i was on a counter-attack and due to the camera not catching up with the play right away, i lost the ball as i was focused on the radar at the bottom.

- Few bugs, clipping, twisting limbs, stuff that should and probably will be fixed for release.

- Love the AI. Reminds me of the PES6 Phoenix patch. AI is intelligent making proper plays and passing. But also making mistakes such as in real life, misplaced passes, etc. Gone is the issue of AI blasting the ball forward such as in PES2013 and relying on long balls.

- Love the fluidity of the game. The animations, and physics, seem so life-like. My only gripe against this is that it feels a little slow, but not so much.

- My problem with this game is player-awareness, which has been in the last few PES games, players standing around when they should be defending, etc. For example, my first goal with Pedro, i had gotten the ball in the opponents penalty box, and the 2nd defender that i ran by didn't challenge me, rather stepped to the side and let me pass.

EDIT: One thing i just noticed, is acceleration. Unlike previous PES games, this is more noticable, seeing players sprint then hit their top speed.

Overall, im loving this game! Currently playing on Top player and really enjoying it, its a joy to score goals. After scoring my first goal i cheered as it were real life, it seems to relieving.

Anyways guys, enjoy the demo!
