True. Quickly hold L1 and flick the right stick will show a line on the pitch that indicates which direction you are holding and which player will be selected. Took some getting used to but already it feels pretty natural. Not as great for chaotic situations but they are now using the right stick when not in control of the ball for shoulder barges and such when encountering other players.

Hmm so after playing more and watching streams from bitter. I feel like the AI stuff isnt working and its locked on long ball because they definitely dont play the kind of football ive seen from videos of the leaked demo or konami's other videos. My only real gripe so far. I hope it is an AI issue with this demo as it would be a shame to of potentially had possession based AI and just throw it away.

ok quick first impressions...

best way i can describe this game...ORGANIC.

The flow, the fluidity. The physics. They are all in their and ace.

I love the fact i can customise the camera and get the broadcast cam i always wanted. The ball is lovely, feels right. The physical nature of the battles is really well done.

Negatives? Well the keepers feel a bit unreactive at times, i cant do any feints with the stick and im not sure how to trigger runs.

But for the first time in 4 years this is an ESSENTIAL DAY ONE PURCHASE. This is what we should have had years ago.

I've seen the AI play much more than just long passes.

maybe its something to do with the higher levels not being implemented properly in this demo as ive not seen the kind of possession football i saw before. Other than that the game is awesome.

Hold it down in possession, keeps the ball close and retains possession due to the fact you're showing very little of it to the opposition,

Some impressions so far:


- Shots do seem to lack the top 25% when it comes to power. It always feels slightly like they are kicking a plastic ball, the light ones that quickly get caught in the wind and just lose speed.

- You can no longer "top up" power bars, if you fill it too little, even if the player has time until he gets to it and strikes the ball, you cannot give it more. Ruins the freekicks a bit since I'm used to it. FIFA doesn't allow that though, but the bars in PES move quite quickly so it's hard to gauge how long to press, atleast in the beginning.

- No way in this demo to run replays at full speed. Holding both analog stick and d-pad to the right or left still has the playback at 40-ish %. Really hope this is sorted, that bomb of a shot you may have done looses all oomph when you are locked to slow motion.


EDIT: Shooting with Balotelli on beginner difficulty and playing around reveals quite heavy shots actually. I just don't have the powerbar figured out completely yet.

maybe... but they definitely arent keeping it like ive seen from other videos. I have most of the possession. Actually now that i think about it. When I put the game down to professional, i actually had less possession for a couple matches. Tbh i just feel that the higher levels havent been implemented into this demo properly.

Is it better to put it on Professional and show off, or go straight into the hard stuff on Superstar?

well uhhh...you may be onto something here. First game on Professional, manual passing....39% possession. :II Humbled.

Thanks for the reply. To me though, there is absolutely no difference in animation, stride length or otherwise when holding it or not holding it and moving. You mean the change player button?

Simply moving with the left stick in circles and turns will slow players down and make them handle the ball slower and closer. L1 or not seems to not change anything as far as I can tell. :)

First game me boca vs colo colo, within the first 10 mins gametime the pes i know and love is back. This reminds me so much of pes 3-6 but with more control( does remind me of the stuff ive done for pes 6 ai wise) The king is back

Just ordered the pc version this game , its going to be amazing fully modded



Oh and i found a pes 6 style camera view its camera setting custom zoom 2 height 10 angle 0

As someone who had the earlier demo all I can say is pes is back baby. It's still not 100 percent perfect but I'm going to put that down to it being the demo but the gameplay is just out of this world. Things that I have noticed different to the first demo is the keepers they have really been turned up a notch. Also,the player individuality is so obvious to see I love playing as requelmie sp and cabaye of France just wow. Can't wait for the full game and am actually creaming myself about the master league and online!

Okay playing now. As someone that has played FIFA for the past 3 years, someone is seriously going to have to explain to me what the fuss is about. This game feels like playing in treacle to me. I'm all for momentum and what not, but I think I've been spoilt by FIFA's reactions.

- Player switching happens painfully slowly (and destructively on your play)
- I've now controlled two balls on my chest instead of clearing them in defence, despite hammering the clear button (one led to a goal)
- The ball can pass about 1 inch from your AI teammate and they won't react

I really want to love this, but unless something is weird with my version (US PS3) the game feels like playing in slow motion.
