Yes and i didn't get booked. Ref just gave a freekick.

To add to this, the Refs seem spot on. I was straight Red Carded last night for a nasty tackle from behind with Klose on an Italian defender. Normally those striker type, clumsy challenge in your opponents half, always produce a yellow. Even when they are leg-breakers. Not this time, the punishment was befitting of the crime. And it's long overdue this type of decision. Loved it.

But, overall, what a game we have here, and what potential. Not only does it look a million dollars, but it plays like a dream, even with the odd early code niggle.
Jimmy G-Force, that was a fab review, thanks, very thorough plus it got me even more excited about the game. Loved the personal touch as well with the comments about your son.

I have some questions for those playing the leaked demo:

1. Is playerswitching fixed? In PES 2013 when set on semi-assist-cursor, the playerswitching would sometimes (often) select the wrong player when making a manual pass into open space and there is no possibility to change that wrong selection... so that the player who was not intended comes back to collect the ball while the one who it was intended for just ignores it and the whole structure of the attack breaks down.
How is it in the PES 2014 demo?

2. Are all the rails finally gone? Is it possible to freely move player around when off the ball without having to use super-cancel?

3. Is a realtime stamina system implemented, so that you can't run around with one and the same player without giving him time to breath? Same for CPU-controlled players.

and lastly:

4. Do you think the king is back? Does it reach the enjoyment-level of PES 3-5?
1. Player switching is still an issue in this code.

2. Mostly gone, but I do rarely find myself using super-cancel especially after a through ball. Not sure why the player keeps running ahead of the ball. Not sure I've witnessed this in 90% code.

3. Don't think that's implemented.

4. We shouldn't judge this now. PES needs easily a month of testing to say that. But in all honesty, yes the enjoyment and satisfaction is lovely.

within reason (distance wise), then yep, i would say 99% is accurate. it's a line that points in the goal telling you where the ball will go. it's a cheat. i scored directly from a corner on MY FIRST ATTEMPT, that should be a telling sign.
It is a line that points yes but there's also a power bar. It won't go exactly where the dotted lines point to then. Try it in FK training and you'll see.
they simply need to be taken out. it's a cheat.

but it will not "work well". it's a disaster of a game mechanic that gives you a 99% of scoring. it's just so ridiculous, yet sadly not surprising.
99%? Even if it was, wasn't it stated already by gamescom code players that it was reduced or fixed?
Is it possible to hit a FK with the outside of the foot, if so how good is the ball's trajectory.

Yeah. Been trying FKs in training just a while ago and you can hit these. They look natural too :)

I think adam said you can turn them dots off but I don't know if it works for free kicks

Yes you can.

You won't be saying that if you play for much longer I would imagine. There are some severe issues with the refs. They've made some great decisions, but they also make a lot of shockers.

Every year i have purchased both games, i have enjoyed Fifa since 08 untill now. I can honestly say this is the first time since PS2 days that i PES/WE is favourite over Fifa and it's nothing to do with EA evil empire shite. EA's World cup and Euro games were far better than Fifa series imo and this PES14 feels right. It just throws up different senarios every game for me. So far so good.

I've decided to skip the demo when it comes out, gonna resist the temptation and experience it for the first time once I've bought a copy, like the old days. I want to experience the retail version totally fresh.

Yep, that's why I played only 2 games... the wait is now almost unbearable, but I believe my endurance will be rewarded.

tbh, it should just be removed. how can you fix it? by having it misrepresent the flight of the ball? sounds like a nuisance to me. by making it shorter? but then all it is really doing is showing you how much curve you have applied, and you dont need a line for that -- we've determined that ourselves for the last decade in pes games. just remove it.

Well I've been trying to resist but can't wait anymore.

If only someone had a demo account that could be shared harmlessly... :)

They are making for real...

Yeah, Alfie is 18 in February, but very clued up when it comes to PES, he doesn't miss a trick. :)

Refs are far from spot on in this code, to be honest. For example, the same incident you describe in glowing terms I've seen go completely unnoticed by the ref on numerous occasions. I've also experienced the ref not playing the advantage when he should, quite a lot. There are other examples too but hopefully the refs be improved by 20 Sep, so it's hopefully irrelevant.

It isn't that far fetched feature. I welcome it gladly.

As new FK system uses both left and right stick, this will come in handy at first, then I will just turn it off (after getting used to new system).

You should also look at it from casual/novice gamer perspective. Not all PES players are hardcore maniacs who know each Pro Evo from inside out ;).

One thing that annoys me is the menu is clearly designed for advertising.

Do you really think that huge space at the right (with the margins and all is nearly half the screen) is only going to be used for showing the leagues list?

If it means Konami gets more money to put towards making the game better & obtaining more licenses I'm in favour of it.

Fair enough, you have played it more than me. That incident just stood out massively from anything I've seen before.

I can comment further after more testing and playtime I guess.

I'm pretty sure that, while watching some of the youtube clips, I saw loading time tip which says that pressing R2 while passing sends player on a run.

Ah right, so that's changed, as holding R2 and Pass was a 'Controlled Pass' in PES 13.

Loving the Advance through ball.

I love the sound of this, but haven't tried it yet, how's it working bud ?

Yea, your press R1, which is a bit silly really, having to press it every time when you don't want it at all, like myself. It should be an opt-in decision rather than an opt-out one at the very least. A menu option to turn it off/on would be best, Konami:))

it is far fetched. its a big white line telling you the flight of the ball. this system could easily be implementing in another more subtle way -- by moving a dot on the football to determine where your foot will make contact, which would then determine curve and flight (it was in an old fifa game i played). this is much more realistic because you cant see the exact flight, and also would invovle timing (shoot>move dot). simple stuff here if konami would just think

As new FK system uses both left and right stick, this will come in handy at first, then I will just turn it off (after getting used to new system).

but it will likely be available for online play, and since it helps a ton people WILL use and abuse it. this is a huge problem (and my biggest annoyance with it)

players havent needed a big white target guide in pretty much any football game ever so that argument doesn't hold weight

This game is heavenly in one vs one mode.
I,ve been playin against my son for a couple hours yesterday...great experience.

Have been wondering about that for a while too, i didnt have the opportunity to test against another person, it must be really gr8 indeed.

How was the dribbling aspect of it? could u take defenders by dribling(as its really hard against the PC, my ideia is that against another person the game will be more open and lil bit less truncated).

Co-sign that fully!

Yep, it's always easier to dribble past human players than it is the CPU.
