PES 2014 Discussion Thread

I have not played the demo but i guess it's too early to say if the "king is back"

Honestly, i think only one month after release we can fairly judge the game

Agreed, this would be huge. The scripting in PES 2013 regarding this really boiled my blood.

But I think it's still too early to judge with demos. The real blatant scritping didn't show itself till singleplayer-competition matches when playing with weaker teams against stronger ones. In exhibition-matches it doesn't show itself as blatant.

I disagree, it showed itself everywhere, and as much in two-player as it did 1-player vs CPU.

The amount of times my defender has gone walkabout, or took a touch I didn't instruct so the ball fell to my mate playing with Torres and Chelsea was beyond a joke. It almost became comical at times.

Playing against CPU at higher difficulty levels will always incur some issues, I don't think that will ever change. I just hope it's not so blatant.

As for your questions, I haven't played it enough yet to answer those, but you will need to play the full game as Zero Assistance is broke on this Demo. Player-switching seems fine though.

no. just no. i scored directly from a corner on my first attempt with the help of those lines. they are truly a konami creation.

This is awful. Obviously KONAMI has to put something arcade ingame to help those casual gamers...

Hopefully it's made a lot less effective with the second demo and final game

Well done you. ;)

What I said is still true, it will give you more delivery options in the area's I've stated. End of.

I'm not a huge fan of the visual, and especially on my beloved FK's, but corners I can tolerate.

they simply need to be taken out. it's a cheat.

but it will not "work well". it's a disaster of a game mechanic that gives you a 99% of scoring. it's just so ridiculous, yet sadly not surprising.

not fixed, but not as bad as pes 2013. however this may appear amplified to an extent due to the player awareness being truly awful (on manual & semi-assist)

depends what specific situations you refer to: when you pass to a player can you move the receiver freely? no; when the computer plays a through and you try and block it out? yes.

there will always be rails to an extent otherwise it would just be a bunch of retards fumbling around the pitch as they attempt to move into the ball precisely. for me the demo feels fine in this regard.

i tested this.

i ran only with dante for the first half and he was completely drained of stamina, the rest of the team had around 1/2. in the second half i ran with only boateng and his stamina drained to zero, the rest of the team (barring dante) had around 1/4 remaining -- bear in mind only these 2 players really touched the ball at all, so the rest of the team really shouldnt be that low on stamina, however, this is a marked improvement over pes 2013 as that game was pretty much solely based on time on the pitch.

and lastly:

no. imo pes 2013 was 40% complete, but that 40% was rather good (mainly the passing game), however the missing 60% was too much to handle (online modes, air passing, physical side of the game).

pes 2014 demo feels like it is 65% complete, and that 65% is also very good, but 35% of the game is buggy or broken and that is what's stopping it from having "that" feeling. at this point it feels like a very solid base rather than the finished article (unless that 35% is fixed... we'll see when the official demo releases :) )

Thanks for answering my questions.

Regarding the stamina-topic, thanks for testing, very interesting result regarding stamina. But what I meant was also the shorttime-breath. Since I play football as a hobby in real life I know that there are two aspects to stamina, the breath and the fatigue.

When running at highspeed my breath gets reduced and after a few minutes I need to rest a bit to catch my breath before being able to run again at that speed. In PES 2013 recatching one's breath after a fast run is not necessary, so I was curious if it's implemented in PES 2014.

Then there is the longterm fatigue that usually plays a role in the second half of the second half, where even if you have breath you are just exhausted and you tend to lose that breath faster and faster and your highspeed-possibilities, reactions... are reduced.

This seems to be implemented somewhat according to your observations although not fully.

in the test i constantly ran back & forth inside my own half with no problems. as far as i can tell, there is only an effect on the long term fatigue

Thanks.

What about the nets, when shooting into it, does the whole net ripple through the impact or only the little part around the ball?

I know it's a miniscule topic but a realistic ripple-effect adds to the satisfaction of shooting.

Yesterday Munich and Chelsea had penalty-shooting and so I could observe how strict in top-games the net is set up, and when the ball hit the whole net rippled, although only for a short time.

Can people stop playing this till I get my hands on the demo on the 11th?

That'd be great, thanks!

Because watching these videos is a minor form of torture at the moment.

I'm not normally one to beg but could someone please give me a psn log in in order to the the demo. I'm not a huge poster but have been on the site since 2oo7 and played every pes since the n64 days.

I've not had a FK yet to be honest bud, but I've seen the outside of the boot used when dribbling and passing in a way I've never seen before. Everything is contextual and natural with the way the body moves, it's beautifully animated, and it does exactly as you would expect in real-life.

I have too and that's why I was hoping we'd see some proper outside of the foot screamers (not like those awkward ones in FIFA.
Please anybody who has the demo, have you guys seen any outside of the foot shooting during the play or free kicks ?

ive seen one during play but not for freekicks as of yet

I think adam said you can turn them dots off but I don't know if it works for free kicks

you can (R1/RB), but it simply shouldnt be present in a game. playing a friend, 90th min, he gets a free kick, maybe he cant resist the urge to get the winning goal, like yourself in ML -- champions league final, 90th min, you get a free kick to win the game.... do you use it or dont you? its just moronic. obviously though my main worry is online, which would be ruined by it, and that is not an exaggeration.

Agreed, the dotted-line-assistance needs to be completely abolished, even as an option it would ruin the game for local multiplayer and for online-gaming.
