ZanyBooch - Damn why not Konami just give good editor, with big database to let players to make changes. Licenses doesnt matter after that.

Please people. Vote it!!! http://forums.pesfan.com/showthread....ms-and-players

DukeGuy - I already told you why not - because allowing complete editing infringes the license agreements that EA have paid big money for.

ZanyBooch - I dont know what EAs licenses include exactly, but sounds pretty weird if they can control other games editor with that too. U got better facts from that?

DukeGuy - This is what happened. EA paid for all that lovely licensing. Konami simply added a bigger editing suite. Sites all over the world started popping up (much like this one) and users were sharing option files in order to give PES all the correct kits/names/players etc.etc.

EA got mad. Somehow, around the same time - so did the FA. Shortly after, all Premiership material on this site (and others) were removed. Konami still have the editing option available, but have to make restrictions on slots and suchlike in order to continue doing that, as they are claiming that users create their own content - rather than steal copyright and licensed images.

If EA can prove that Konami add the editing so that the users can recreate the licensed data, then that's clearly an infringement on the licenses, hence the reason why the editing is limited and has a certain amount of data slots.

To put it into an analogy, it's like aiding and abetting in a crime. Sure, Konami didn't commit the crime - but they provided the tools specifically designed to carry it out. Remember, every single time you recreate a kit, you are infringing a copyright and are liable to legal action. The reasons that you don't get your collar felt is that you are small-fry and because you aren't making any money on it. Konami aren't and they do.

A few years ago, when the FA banned premiership content - I personally emailed all the premiership teams sponsors (because the teams can't copyright the colors/pattern of a shirt, but without the advert logos, it doesn't look like a shirt) and asked for permission to use their logo in my option file that I would then distribute for free. Most got back to me and most said, 'go ahead' - one of them even asked for the option file for their own PES when it was complete. But some gave a flat-out 'no' unless I was willing to pay for it. So, this went nowhere in the end. This little story should just highlight that it's not quiet as simple as you think, there are many companies, most very big companies, that do not want people creating their logos and using them without permission. They are all tied in with the Premiership and other leagues, which have an exclusive license with EA. Every time someone circumvents the purchase of the game that's licensed as they can buy another game and make it look the same, all of the invested companies lose money. And that's not in their interest at all.

I hope that clears it up.

I'm not familiar with PESFAN, i don't know if he's working directly with Konami at one point or not. But it sounds to me the situation is very complicated, and it involve too many legal interest.

EDITED - I'm including the whole conversation to make sure it won't sound like taken out of context. DukeGuy didn't referred to Stadium editor specifically, he was referring to editing mode in general.

Lami, I guess the better question would be if you notice the catch up bug on this leaked demo. I haven't played the demo but this would be a major worry for me.

1. As mentioned before I hardly sprinted for long past players unless it was for 1-1s. Was more into checking out duels and the physicality tbh, but I had enough time's running away from defenders in 1-1s with Rooney.
2. They were ok apart from a few niggles like giving a PK because I tried blocking a shot after the CPU player has already taken his shot and hit the bar and out. Hopefully this gets ironed out.
3. I loved the shooting but never tried advanced shooting. Can't really tell.
4. Haven't tried this either. Just testing the 3 bar passing.

Cheers Lami. I trust Konami to get this all sorted regarding what you have said, if it was an issue i think you would've picked up on it.

Regarding stadium editor, here's explanation from DukeGuy (PESFAN),

I'm not familiar with PESFAN, i don't know if he's working directly with Konami at one point or not. But it sounds to me the situation is very complicated, and it involve too many legal interest.

But it's not fair that a number of users who chose game "B" or "C" can't play with their favourite clubs just because there's an exclusivity deal with another company.

If you add the fact they won't be able to fix this themselves in the future due to a lack of an editor, then it's a monopoly issue, as they can only choose the game "A" to be able to play with their clubs.

A similar situation would be if Apple couldn't be able to have a "Twitter" app because the latter signed an exclusivity deal with Google.

So anti-consumer, isn't it?

Customers should choose a game for the game itself, not for licensed content.

Dunno what to say. What a world we live in...

I'm tending to think it's a bit more obvious in this demo. It just feels clunky.

Also just remembered, playing with Abate I remember blazing past a couple players a few times at the event.

Re: licenses, tried to tell you but no one wants to believe.

Well played about 10 games.

First of all I wont be playing pes 2013 again even after this early demo.

It feels unfinished thats for sure. Its stuttery and unresponsive. I cant blast away from people with Ribery either and he is lightening 1 on 1.

The GK's are decent and the animations and gfx are superb.

All in all if this improves in the main areas its a wonderful game to play.

Sounds like Konami are fucked until they either get the licenses and share (so no hypocrisy) or decide to change their game into something else. Either way its the gamers who get screwed over.

Really hard to understand why this isn't classed as monopolising though.

Well that's good news. Keep up the good wok kind sir :BYE:

It's a really sad situation for gamers, but both companies do it. Football is a sport awash with a lot of money and very few principles - these exclusive deals aren't good for gamers and they aren't good for football fans.

So once you blazed past the defense, did you try to cross? Did his cross result in goal kick?
