Thank you Mr.CeNA For those textures man
I can start making kits now
Ok, Some more impression after about 20 games of the Demo.
The Negatives first:
- Severe FIFA 08 like but worse responsiveness issues, this usually happens either after an interception, after a long ball is played or through ball or in general for the Defensive AI. You have players standing there like statues at times. I'm unsure how it is now, in the gamescom videos and newer codes I hear it's been fixed.
- Fouls are broken, too many times I've been blatantly fouled and the Ref does nothing, seemed he isn't programmed properly and the slide tackles are the only thing he picks up on.
- Keepers seem to be powerless to stop 1 on 1 shots from the CPU, he does that similar dive everytime and I haven't seen anything other than an almost automatic CPU goal each and every time I get a one on one against me. This could be linked to the lack of responsiveness, I haven't specified keepers in general because a bug I have just witness seemed to be universal for all the players lacking responsiveness.
- Clumsy player collisions after tackles, again, I think I'm rambling here since this seems liked to responsiveness again.
- Catch up cheat, CPU players seem to sprint faster than Usain Bolt to catch you, seems very odd.
- Some of the new controls don't seem to be fluid enough, I see why they have changed the player switching to L1 + Right stick, in theory it could work but I'm unsure a the moment of its fluidity in switching off the ball and setting players on a run.
- Cutscenes lag
- Interface is very sluggish in general
Neutral but worth noting down.
- The new free kick controls, are separated so instead of choosing the position and curl with the left stick, you choose the position with the right stick and the curl exclusively with the left stick.
- The Tactics have changed, I cannot make too much judgement on them, the games are too short and there is too much crap responsiveness to et a reading on how effectively the change the game.
- Passing doesn't seem quite as free as PES 2013, its more realistic in its physics but I can't play balls into space like I normally do, again, could be linked with the response issues.
The Positive.
- Animations. Outstanding! The fluidity of them, the vast array of them, how dynamic they are in regards to the passing, the flicks come in when needed, the off balance shows depending on how technically gifted the player is, the jostling is wonderful. Truly outstanding job.
Following on from the animations:
- Dribbling and movement in general is very organic, nothing at all is on rails, I had a moment when Ribery was charging down the flank, i pressed sprint too much and he organically overran the ball the ball feels totally free from the players.
- There is a clear player weight, some players feel heavier than others due to physique and stats implemented well.
- If you drop the shoulder using the right stick the animations look bang on.
- Keeper saves are very good in general, a good variety of them on show, their are more fluid in their delivery of passes now.
Away from the Animations:
- Superb Graphics overall, night time in the Konami stadium looks outstanding.
- The CPU really keep the ball superbly, they create a chess match like game, its about covering spaces, looking to take advantage of any mistake they make. It's not easy at all to score or break them down. There is a clear intention for a realistic balance for this game.
- Even 4 bar passing while rather easy still retains realism in its physics, 3 Bars seems pretty good, 0 or 1 bar is gorgeous but suffers because of the bad responsiveness so its best to stick to 3/4 bars for now.
- Andrea Pirlo's Passing is just fantastic, You can hit balls with him like no other player in this game, he has Player ID and his movements are different to everyone.
Last thing I'll speak about is ratings, Italy seem rather overrated and in general the ratings aren't good, The individuality is still there despite this to show the games gigantic amount of potential but they seem more generically implemented. De Rossi has 85 i think for Dribbling which is wrong, should be at the most 76, he's not a dribbler, he's a kick orientated technician with a fantastic range of passing and intelligent defensive and offensive movement.
In general I think they aren't great, not up to Konami's usual good standards, although PES 2012 was similar and they did rectify them after the first update to a decent extent.
I've spoken before about the ratings changing, there is no more speed merchant now, the player cards have changed. I'll list these later.
Overall
I spoken a lot about the negatives, mainly because if fixed,we have one hell of a game here people, will it be perfect? Not sure, I doubt we will ever find perfection, but if this responsiveness issue is sorted. fuck even if your a ardent FIFA only fan, if your a fan of football or any game. this shit needs to be played.
What I'll be looking for in the 'proper demo' not this beta here is how well the fundamentals of PES 2013 have been retained.
