The reviewer is opining that although PES has taken steps forward on the pitch and improved its gameplay, the rest of the game (menus, modes, commentary etc...) are all stuck in the past and aren't commensurate with the gameplay improvements. Thus, preventing the game from being a huge leap forward.

Yep, my feelings exactly. It seems that unless you go through every single team, they all play ridiculous high defensive lines which the AI obviously takes advantage of and hits balls over the top. Kind of ridiculous.

To counter this I set my sliders def line to 0, my att/def level to 5 and compactness to 5.

The line is supposed to move up naturally as the team moves forward, but if it is still too high you can now pull the def line back in real time by tapping or holding left/right on the dpad. It seems to help.

You can also push it forward to move up or double tap for an offside trap.

which is absolutely fair. PES always has a feeling of being an incomplete game, sadly great gameplay is noy enough these days to cater for improved sales. I must say Fifa's effort this year is impressive, still too fast and animations a bit off but their presentation and game modes are sublime. If PES do not improve on this on the next gen i dont see the franchise lasting long, sadly, fox engine or otherwise.
Like a poster said a few pages back, you do not need licences to make a game full
of content, things that baffle me:
- lack of unlicenced stadiums
- lack of more real balls. who wants to play with generic balls
- how you cant choose champions league ball for a friendly
- lack of full manual setting (pass AND shoot) for online. How hard can this be!?
- atrocious commentary

and many many more....

They need better writer. Commentators, real-life celebrity voice-over these day are expensive. They just do as being told, with minimal to none creative input from themselves. Plus Jon Champion and Jim Beglin got to be the most monotonous pairing ever.

Hi all, has any1 tried PC version vanilla and PS3 or xbox vanilla? I have this feeling that PC version is like demo for PS3/XBOX, when I tried PS3 full I was rly happy with response but now on PC it seems to slow and sluggish

Lol online has been this state on release since about PES6. Why don't they properly test it before hand? I don't understand how it comes as some great surprise to them each and every time. Just let us do IP to IP ffs.

Konami should delegate the whole online functionality to Europe branch.

I don't think this is the real reason.
If the reason is because it is not yet release-date, they would not bring the datapack today (wednesday).
In short, there is a defect. I bet it wil not be different by tomorrow, unless they fix it tonight.

Tested out both console versions of the demo tonight, 360 wins. Colours seem richer and visuals are sharper. Pitch textures are more noticeable too. Konami really don't get on with the PS3, every PES including this leaves players looking weirdly over-sharpened, with that white outline and roughness to the graphics. 360 on the other hand seems to have marginally better lighting, oddly deeper shadows at night and more natural, lighter shadows in bright sunshine. Plus there is a rumour that PS3 graphics have been toned down on release, which would make the difference even bigger.

360 version it is on Friday I think. Konami clearly don't like PS3 for developing on, which is a shame as Rockstar just showed how to do multiplatform developing. PS3 is the better version of GTA in their case.

As I said in Pes 2013 Mp3 files have worked flawlessly and now you no longer detected.

My Version is PS3.

The files have to be .wav i think.

I know its abit early saying stuff about pes 2015; apparently the uk team did not do any development with pes 2014, and is currently co-developing pes 2015; so hopefully by next year, we would stop seeing any aesthetical and presentation problems. This is from an interview somewhere, i got it from wenb about a couple weeks ago.

Imo, the biggest problem with the game is the defensive AI inability to deal with lob through balls; majority of goals are scored by that, and should really be fed back to the team. The game is actually quite good now that responsiveness issues; my major gripe with the demo, is fixed.

I used the D-Pad to adjust my defensive line last night in anticipation of the next AI move. Once I caught them offside and the other I got burnt :P We have control now and it works well

You'll only buy this game to get an A grade in MLO rather than enjoy the football?

Look - I know the online thing is a bummer but that sounded like a cheap throwaway comment.

Some ppl play mainly online cos all their mates are FIFA fans. Me for example, one answer could be 'get better mates' another would be for Konami to release a game that works well. Since I am paying Konami for the game I expect the latter to be the solution to the issue.

Nope, it is still pre-order though.. although some people mention theirs are being dispatched. Not much options here. I'll probably look at the game on the weekend.

But please don't take everything literally. That original post was taken from PESFAN. It might simply because the online server is still in testing phase, since the game isn't supposed to be out yet.

yes, i am Indonesian. where about do you purchase games in Indonesia these days? pardon my question because it's been a while that I haven't been back.

Will you be purchasing pc or consoles version?

The good thing about PES 2014 is that they will not be releasing this to Next Gen consoles, so less decision-making to do; unlike FIFA 14, where you probably have to decide, should I wait for next consoles or just buy it now.

But I do hope that PES 2015 will be released for the next gen consoles.

I am purchasing PC but hope we can arrange online match sometime if my connection speed is adequate.. Currently, 30 kb/s download what to expect, lol ?

Drakuli.net the most recommended here as i remember. Their store is at Senayan STC. Glad to see Indonesian around here..

my experience after playing the full retail version, individuality is alot more obvious as compared to previous versions, To me the KING IS BACK reason i say that cause back in the days when the game was king was no where near as good as this, after downloading the patch i feel the game has more intense in midfield on higher difficulties beter response as well as the shooting less floaty shots also cant comment yet on the through ball glitch as some people are experiencing maybe cause im on manual i could go on but need to get back to the game it definately has that one more game feeling, i am in heaven :-)

Anyone else having trouble downloading the Data Pack update? It doesn't say how big it is but I've tried twice now and its taken around 2 hours to download on a 20MB connection then errors out when it tries to install :-/

Can't play online without it! This is Xbox 360 btw in the UK.

I hardly play online games.. few reasons for this, sometimes it still lags, whether it's from my side or the opponent side ... second i hate it when i lost a match, particularly if di bantai hahahhaha

and I can tell that you are one of those bunch that does massive updating to your PES. I think most Indonesians are.

What are you talking about?

If yet again we are going to end up with cheaters winning through disconnections and innocent players being punished and enjoyment ruined, then Konami have a lot to answer for IMO.

This was specifically something they targeted fixing (if it turns out to be the case). Probably th biggest flaw of PES 13.

It still unconfirmed whether it is disconnect cheater or could be the servers simply aren't ready (since the game isn't officially out yet). Since he mentioned it happen two times in succession it's likely the latter. We'll see.
