PES 2014 Discussion Thread

This is the only time I wish I had a PS3 :P Loving the impressions and the videos. Awesome.

There were a couple of topics people (myself included) were asking about in the lead up to PES 2014 but I haven't heard anything mentioned on them:

1) Shot trajectory/variation
2) Audio (well I did read one comment where someone dropped the commentary and crowd to 40% and said it sounded great).

Any feedback?

i wouldnt buy this game if the leaked demo was the full version. for sure it's good, but it's the same old story of it acting more of a game with potential rather than being a finished product. manual passing in all areas, player offensive and defensive awareness, goalkeepers, general laboured movement especially in tight areas, button lag, white line for free kicks and corners -- all these things need to be fixed, and they really add up to create a problematic experience. however, i am quite hopeful that demo 2 will fix a lot of these problems except the bolded ones, which i fear will continue into the final game

shots always go high it seems, they are always elevated and lofted. not much variation in contextual swerve/curve either

3) Stamina ?

(posted this a few pages back)

i tested this.

i ran only with dante for the first half and he was completely drained of stamina, the rest of the team had around 1/2. in the second half i ran with only boateng and his stamina drained to zero, the rest of the team (barring dante) had around 1/4 remaining -- bear in mind only these 2 players really touched the ball at all, so the rest of the team really shouldnt be that low on stamina, however, this is a marked improvement over pes 2013 as that game was pretty much solely based on time on the pitch.

also, in the test i constantly ran back & forth inside my own half with no problems. so as far as i can tell, there is only an effect on the long term fatigue (as opposed to dynamic breath)

1. Interestingly you have a new shooting feature.. or setting. You have Basic and Manual as in last year, but this year you have also got "ADVANCED SHOOTING".. I think this is gonna be great for those who want that inbetween basic and manual. I tried it in the 'training menu', and basically its the same system as penalty shoot outs, but during open play. So you can actually point to the top or bottom (low trajectory shots)corners, and the harder you press the button the harder it will be shot, but the less accuracy... or more chance of it going 'not exactly where you want it to go'. With this is a circular aiming system, showing where you are aiming - hope there is an option for this to be removed.

2. Audio setting is awesome. I turn everything down in the settings about half way, eg. crowd, commentator etc.. and leave the "on field sounds" (its called something similar, but it includes kick noises and when players clash, including when a keeper catches the ball)..I then increase the overall TV volume via the tv controls = So much more realistic.. and it just gives that increased feeling of when you kick a ball, youre actually doing it... sound is a huge thing... in previous versions you could hardly here this over the crowd noise. Id love if they added a setting where you could tinker with vibration settings.. ie. goes off when you pass, but even more so when its a harder shot at goal etc.. or a volley... where there is more pressure felt on the foot in real life. Getting hammered in a tackle causing the controller to give u a real jolt would be great... Guess I could just go outdoors and have a real kick with the mates...

Now you understand why KONAMI pushed back the Demo because to avoid issues such as yours TheSteeeeels. Remember the demo was never to be released and due to human error it landed on the PSN Network.

Dont be too hasty my or overly critical mate...the issues you have with this demo most likely been significantly improved. No worries.

Do you remember when EA released FIFA 07 on their then NEW ENGINE? That was more of a test game than a final product. KONAMI'S first year with the FOX..and the BUG FILLED DEMO was greater than any football game i ever played.
We all know where this game (PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER) is heading...should i say more mate!

can people stop asserting this? the demo was supposed to be released but they pulled it at the last minute. at a point this was supposed to be the official demo.

i know, and i feel my criticisms are reasonable. in fact i said that i'm hopeful that some issues will be fixed in that very post

speak for yourself mate. it's par for the course for konami to release potentially great games, but then be incapable of fulfilling it. i certainly do not know where pes 2014 is heading

Who said that dribbling in this game is hard ? Once you get the hang of tapping R1 in the right time and direction, it really isn't that hard and that makes the game even more enjoyable.

You can make this natural burst with R1 moving to many directions, you can mix it with the use of R2 to stop the ball quickly and trick, it is so simple and intuitive and yet it has such depth and variations, it's just brilliant, the best dribbling mechanics in a football game ever.

Good to know that. Although I'm yet to see any gifs/videos of people dribbling and getting past opponents without the use of the trick system (right stick). So if you could record a video (even if with your cel phone) of what you talking about, you'd really help me out understanding. Thanks.

I noticed something about the catch up bug. It's only present vs the CPU. ELZed and I tested it against each other. It's non existent. But when we played against the CPU. We got caught every time. Maybe it's due to early code bugs or superstar difficulty

Well, this is really good in the sense that I barely play offline matches nowaday. Of course that Demos don't leave many other options. It's either play against the CPU or against a friend. So if the catch up but is only present against CPU in the full game, I'll be happy. I'm going to play Online and against friends, mostly, so...
Of course I would prefer it they removed this bug altogether, but it won't bother me as much if it's just there vs. AI.

Yes it was but ask yourself why it was pulled...then look at the problems you have with it and you will find answers for that.

You have a point there, if you look at Konami's past but thats why mistakes are made for us to learn from them.

Thanks dude. Appreciate it.

true. which, again, is partially why i said i am hopeful some things will be fixed. however i do have doubts, as, like i said, konami have often been stuck in the 'potential' stage whilst not being able to fully deliver

Any one here from Turkey ?
I will be in Istanbul upon the release date and I want to get the game PC version or xbox360 version, does any one know a games shop in Istanbul to get it from????
thanks

List of FIFA 14 stadiums...dont know if its official or not....if true then i dont know what to say.

It's one thing having loads of stadiums. But another doing them correctly. Half of them look nothing like the real life counter part. They just get the name & rights then throw them in ther. IMO the best stadiums are made by the PES community then Konami. FIFA are a distant third.

may be you missed the point mate....look, there is only 3 Spanish Stadiums....Konami told us a story of EA EXCLUSIVE of all Spanish Stadiums.

I really hope that PES2014 can give me a proper
Stade Louis II and its not like having the stadium is a game breaker. Hopefully I can get it by mod if not available "out the box"

I am very happy to see the old fans from my generation and who are registered on the forum since 2000-2007 year to come back. This is a good sign, and brings a lot of optimism, hope everything is fine at the end of the month. Greeting

atleast they are moving in the right direction, so this year everything seems improved.
oeps, sorry, forgot about the rain and licensed stadiums.
overall still a good package wouldn't you say?
the whole net should be moving not just where the ball hits. then it will be realistic or close to real nets, that's what i'm asking.
