The defensive AI is actually very good now. Only problem is the 1 on 1 close dribbling situations; The defender needs to be more aware of where the ball is and tackle accordingly. No one used the double tap x button, so we don't know if its effective compared to PES 2013, which is a pity.
what i liked in that video, is that the goal came in a very sluggish way which makes it appealing to have a variation in goal situation, ball hitting the back of the goalkeeper, attacking positions look varied, more freedom of chance creation. and a defender just putting it home, that's what we miss in this game, as for the cons, i think the defender awareness!! the defender just running and the ball passes btw his legs...

one thing that stood out for me the most in the last gameplay video is that pes2014 don't have any similarity with pes2013 and that is a big thing for me.

I didn't attack you. I engaged you in a dialogue and thoughtfully responded to your comment about EA/FIFA supposedly choosing sexy animations over proper player behaviour and gameplay.

You didn't say anything about EA's animations, you still haven't said anything about EA's animations, you have just attacked PES 'past' animations.

Engaging in dialogue is to respond to the context of the dialogue which you failed to do by no mentioning the context at all in your response.

You posts show only the intention that you want everyone else to share your opinion. Your unhappy people aren't being as miserable as you are.

It's clear they just tweaked gk animations and AI. Unfortunately another year with mediocre gks

Projection much bro? You're the one who continues to attack me for simply disagreeing with your comments.

You said EA chose sexy animations over "real football" animations, implying obviously that FIFA is less real-life because the animations are so good. And I responded by pointing out that animations and gameplay are two different topics altogether. FIFA's animations are sexy because they're a pleasure to look at, and they make playing FIFA an enjoyable experience from a visual perspective. All sports games should look that good and that fluid in motion. But denigrate FIFA's gameplay because it looks so much better than PES in motion? That's not a valid argument, sorry.

But that was last year. PES 2014 for the most part looks much more smooth and realistic in motion than FIFA 13, a blind person can see that. But does that automatically mean an improved PES gameplay experience, as in "real football"? No, because animations and gameplay quality are two different topics as I said.

why everybody needs SPIDERMAN goalkeepers?
in real life I see they do so many mistakes...
it looks like the more keeper are invincible, the more a soccer game is good...I will never understand the perfect goalkeepers fans...

Something that concerns me is there is still the AI booting the ball out of play in a panic when the situation does not warrant such an action, if you understand what I mean?

You run towards an AI player, and he boots the ball straight out for a throw in when put under pressure...

Most people just want them to remove the animations that are left from before. Those old animations were confirmed to be recorded by employees and not real keepers. They have now used real keepers to record new animations, but they haven't replaced them all.

Konami need to pay Oliver Khan to do the tricks?
If people only ask for the GK before the first demo release, we can play it right now for a long time.

my feedback on both IGN gameplay videos
i'm really impressed with how the game looks and play just worried about these little things :

1-player awareness issue , ball passes very close to players and they arer just watching it
lmo.gif

2-some passing animations are really bad , they remind me of pes 2013 , the pass trajectory is not related to the
leg movement , may be konami removed the new passing animations and returned to the old 2013 passing animation
to improve the response time and button lag which seems to be completely resolved in that video in contrary to the E3 video

3-i noticed some sliding when there's some physical contact between players , i hope konami didn't overcome the common
clipping issue of old pes iterations by sliding which is as bad as clipping.

4- lineman position still the same as E3 code "one meter behind side line"

5-i welcome the quick throw-ins , we were asking for that for years , just a little notice that the player should take few side steps after picking up the ball to play it from the right position where the ball went out "fifa does that well"

for me the goalkeeper it's a good animation..
this one is great, but we are talking about when the goal came, it's like the keeper takes too much time to have awareness of facing the right side and not facing the goal after falling down or where the ball is, fifa keepers are good in that aspect.
i was gonna ask something: how can we make fifa play like pes, i wish we can do that.

I didn't see any floating around despite some people's concerns. The game looks good. Very excited.

All in all, despite some of the game's shortcomings, do you all agree that this game looks pretty good so far?

Really enjoyed this last video, some hicups still occur here and there but overall it looks a lot smoother than 13 and thats the most important thing for me, definatly pre-order.

@Hany3

The passing animations you show are different than 2013. It is a standing pass with bended "inside" foot which is normal, i think slightly blind pass. Whereas in 2013, it was one "toe-poke" that can go to more than one direction.

Yes

Yes. Something I said before also.

FIFA's animations are sexy because they're a pleasure to look at, and they make playing FIFA an enjoyable experience from a visual perspective.

If you like that sort of game in which is main strength is how it looks rather than the functions and balance that is fine. Nothing wrong with that.

I didn't say there was either ;)

All sports games should look that good and that fluid in motion.

If they have the budget to do so remember. Making games costs a LOT of money, and so do engines.

But denigrate FIFA's gameplay because it looks so much better than PES in motion? That's not a valid argument, sorry.

The actual problem here is you feeling insecure about my post actually, I said the animations in FIFA looked better than real life and looked sexy. You automatically interpreted this as negative, you felt insulted and replied back with a poor ambiguous response which didn't address what I said because as I will show now, your only intention is for everyone to follow what you want them to.

Did it ever occur to you that my comments on FIFA's animations being sexy being a 'Good' thing. Also as I have said above, If you like that sort of gameplay, more power to you. Why? Realism doesn't necessarily make for good gameplay and not everyone wants extreme realism in their football title.

I've said here in the past, FIFA 11-13 I didn't buy, but i played all of them against friends at University and in other places. I refuse to give my money to this corporation anymore. When your either, drunk, high or under the influence or something, or even just relaxing, having fast frantic game of FIFA is much better than spending 5 minutes or more before every game setting up your team like in PES.

FIFA's simplicity is what make it perfect to being the most popular title, anyone can play it, doesn't take much skill if any to master, all the player play pretty much in the exact same way, you know how and where to score. This along with the sexy animations and all the licences and commentary it makes it a very, very good video game. Now you play full manual, change stats, change gameplay script, whatever, the premise of FIFA still remains, generic gameplay, same methods to score all the time, same sexy animations, doesn't take long to adjust.

That is so much easier than a game which takes time to set up to team every game, change the lineup depending on form, stats and how you want to play, each team is different and have different individuals so you have to learn how to use each team. Not to mention the freedom in passing and unpredictability and so on blah, blah, blah. As I have shown, FIFA's simplicity will always be a big selling point over PES, even in the PS2 golden era, people would play FIFA because of licences and simplicity.

The two games are (well used to be in a way) chalk and cheese, ironically one game tends to excel at what the other does baldy at.

The most 'realistic' football game is not automatically the best football game universally. It's not black and white what people define as realism, it depends entirely what the user is looking for.

It shows like I have said throughout, you just want everyone to agree with your own view and you feel the need to attack someone who doesn't share you view word for word.

yet:

Actually no, the one comment about running with broomsticks is quite accurate. Some of the off the ball movement animations are still really bad. Check out Balotelli 3-4 min mark. His ball-tracking and stop-start animations look positively awful, very last-gen. No inertia whatsoever.

:))
