The AI will again disappoint in the long(medium)run. It´s obvious even on the demos. You only "feel" the game when with the ball, and even so, if i ever, in the final code,get my position 8 midfielder disposessed by the AI striker an the such, i will gladly say goodbye to the boot boosting piece of art that follows. Will play online and pray a lot for Fox engine to bring back the magic.

FIFA regarding thing I need to share.

I'm currently at my mates place and he's running FIFA 13 demo. Thing is, it's much slower, the pace, the overall speed as it is on my ps3! It's like PES 13 demo 2 speed 0! I have a old 80gig big fat baby and my mate has a slim ps3! Both are hooked to Sony LCD's, I'm using 40", his is 46"!

I don't get it. When I play at home it's freaking fast on slow setting!! And now I see him playing on normal speed and it's the same as PES 13 demo 2 0!!

Sorry but this drives me crazy... You smart PES, tech or whatever gurus, tell me: what's happening here?!

I'm still here and watching the games. ASAP info welcome. ;)

Its got to do with refresh rate. On my plasma screen the games play faster as opposed to my LED. The plasma has like 600hz while the LED has 150 hz. At least I think this is the reasonbut there is defo a marked difference.

Ok. I was wrong. He got a LED Sony, mine is LCD! I still just don't get it.

If FIFA would run like this at my place I would test out the demo more.

I just need a serious explanation for that. This freaks me out. Really.

I normally play on semi-assisted cursor switch but changed it to assisted last night, with 1-bar passing. Not sure if it's just me but it seems to make a world of difference in the AI's buildup play. I mentioned it before about trying not to override the player switching too much and the possession stats seem to even out more, but having assisted switching on, at least in my experience, slowed the pace right down, allowed team's tactics to shine through and also had the AI play less direct than usual.

If I keep finding the same results, I will be sticking with assisted switching.

They are both LCD TV's, the difference is your mate's is LED backlit and yours uses the conventional CCFL backlighting.

The whole LED TV thing is a marketing con to make people believe LED TV's are a separate technology to LCD's. They are not. LED TV's still use a conventional LCD display, the difference being they can be made thinner and more energy efficient because of the LED's behind the screen.

OLED is true LED TV (where each pixel is an individual LED light) but we are some way off that technology being affordable.

As Zee alluded to earlier, it could be down to the refresh rate, most likely 50Hz vs 60Hz. You may remember PES back on the PS2 had a 50/60Hz menu option when you loaded the game. Some people said it played faster on 60Hz.

I'm not sure how this works because the refresh rate of the display should be irrelevant. If PES runs at 30 frames per second it shouldn't make any difference in the game speed if the display runs at 50Hz or 600Hz (another marketing con by the way).

I played some more DEMO 2 as I'm playing SWOS more than any game now and I'm really liking PES13. I seriously think KONAMI are getting their crown back from FIFA this year. I mean, the passing is probably the best passing in PES ever. The fluidity of passing is just unreal. Manual passing is really good but I'm not sure if full manual is better or harder than playing on 1 bar assist ? I play with 1 bar pass assist and the passes still feel manual with just a pinch of assistance. What do you guys think ? FULL MANUAL passing is the way to go to really be "pro" or one bar also does the trick ? Also, I played with different game speeds and seems like 0 is the best feeling. -1 feels really slow, -2 feels like I drank 40 ounce Old English Malt Liquor and snorted 80mg of OxyContin. 1+ and 2+ feels like I injected crystal meth. What speed are you guys playing ?

This is it for Pro Evolution Soccer. Took Konami a few years to figure their shit out but man oh man this game is really breath taking. I hope to god Konami don't fuck up the final release somehow. The animations are BEAUTIFUL and I swear to god I never saw this animation before. I was Juve and had the ball near Valencias goal. I tried to score but the ball hit the defender directly in the head causing him to fall down and have a cardiac arrest it seems like. It BLEW me the fuck away.

anyway... im enjoying that second demo! especially after playing the fifa demo the last 3 days!

Alright Franky! Yeah man, keen as mustard for next Thursday! I handed my notice in at work last week (start at BankSA 24/9) so I'm off all next week! I've pre-ordered mine from EB games so I'll be picking it up at 8:30am next Thursday! Happy days!

Two of my other mates are picking it up on release too. Sounds like some 2 vs 2 action will be happening and you're invited! Any chance of you buying a mic by next week? Need to communicate if you're on my team! LOL!

I notice a lot of people complaining about the chipped through balls. I use semi-assisted and never get this issue. I tend to select my deepest defender and drop him back a few yards if I think a chipped through ball is on.

For that reason alone I dont think I could use assisted controls. However it's an interesting point you raise.

I have a headset, but I never use it lol. I'll leave it permanently in my lounge room so we can communicate then ;)

Looking forward to some 2 v 2 matches. One of us must set up an Australian community - since you're getting the game before I've even made it to work, I guess it's you haha

Yeah I know what you're saying. But I do select my player sometimes, depending on the danger level. What I don't do is immediately switch to where the ball is, especially in midfield and I find everyone keeps their shape better. If I look under the pump I'll switch :)

i do play 0 bars and everything else manual too! as manual as it gets... i even use L2 to make it more manual! ;) the guidance arrow i turned off! i hate assistance in any way, be it a soccer game or a shooter or whatever!
i tried like 3 matches using 1 bar but i returned to 0! not because i felt heavy assisted but it was all in my mind! TURN IT DOWN... the litte man in my head said! ;)

i set the game speed to -1! yeah sometimes it feels slow. thats why i like to see pes go back to that demo 1 speed at setting 0! it was a tad faster than -1 in demo 2 to me! i like your comment about playing +1 or +2!! :D

and i do pray for konami too! please dont let us down again... its been said a few times. they usually take 1 step forward and when release day is around they take 2 steps back.

is the day one patch only for stats and kits updates or will/cann it effect gp too?

btw: i love that community. its so more "like beeing home with friends" compared to the wenb board. people do actually respond, even to members that have been away for month like me. and there are no military style mods or gloryfication of admins n stuff! ^^

It used to be the other way around for me, 50hz faster and 60hz slower on PS2. They even looked bulkier on 50hz and slimmer on 60hz.

Daymos from www.onlyproevolutions.com will have a smashing option file for 360 and it should be ready on day 1. Top notch is his work!

Yeah same here. I even select the fullbacks sometimes and follow the wingers runs rather than switch to a midfielder and pressure the ball holder. That for me is 'tactical defending'. :TTTH:

Are you buying FIFA this year? I think you know my answer! For the first time in a while I'm actually confident that I will get a full 12 months out of a PES game!

- Can you bend a long pass?
- Can you bend a through ball? (inside and outside of foot?)

1)Do you mean a pass in the air? Hold down the cross button and aim for your player down the pitch. If there's someone in the way, make sure you power up more so it doesn't give it to the nearest player. Using a manual cross or zero to 1 bar passing also helps I think.

2)I've seen switches of play where the ball bends but not really on a straight long ball over the top. You can use LB + cross to curve the ball though. Maybe LB + manual + cross could give you what you need?

3) The player will bend the through ball on his own. You can't choose instep or outstep. But maybe the body position you're in will dictate which part of the foot is used. You'll see good passers in the demo like Pirlo or Riquelme who curve their through balls.

After playing 2 games on the FIFA demo last night I turned it off. No is my answer lol. I'll get to try it at a mates place and I'll be able to borrow it off him sometimes but from what I saw in the demo, all the improvements count for nothing if the AI just sits there and marks space while you dribble around with the exact same build up play every time! I'll try adjusting a defensive pressure slider maybe.

The good thing is that PES is out next week, BEFORE FIFA, so I won't be tempted to go back to the store and buy FIFA just to give me a footy game to play. :APPLAUD: :APPLAUD:
