PES 2012 PC Demo talk

People need to forget about the PS2 days. The game is going forward not backwards. PES on the ps2 was good for its day. But its not dated.

they need to combine pes3 with pes 2010 + right stick features 012 + pass support slider = win

ps2 engines games feel a bit outdated in some departments but in others theyre still the best, its a mixed situation

Something i can't understand is why the PS2 versions of PES 2008 to 2011 are great! (Like PES6 improved) and the Next-gen ones are crap.

Actually when i play tournaments with friends we use to play the PS2 versions. :BOP:

I think the solution is konami has to move the PS2 programmers to the Next-Gen programming team, and problem solved!

PES 2012 will be release on PS2 too??

You can't understand? Thy're completely different games, engines, and plataforms. PS2 is nothing, NOTHING like next-gen consoles in the technology they use. PES 2011 on the PS2 is basically the same game it has been since PES 6. The equivalent to that in next-gen consoles was PES 2008. See how that turned up?

I just had one of those games which has made me FURIOUS. I've been playing PES pretty much all my life from the first versions and I don't profess to be a great player...I just play the game with an understanding of PES and football.

However...I expect the goalkeeper in a game to make a single save. I mean...just one. You could have say 3 50/50s in a game with the striker and keeper...you would hope he could stop at least one. And perhaps 4 shots from range which go down the middle, would you expect all 4 to go in?

I just played a game where there were 7 shots on target on my goal. My goalkeeper saved 0. Napoli scored 7. 6 of these goals went right down the middle. I can't even be bothered to play a game where the developers are so clearly unable to test it because of budget / time / cross platform development. This kind of thing is easy to pick up in the smallest amount of testing. I can't begin to enjoy the new AI features when they so clearly neglect other basic and essential parts of the game.

Every year the demos have problems and we hope the final product will fix them. Remember the referee standing in front of the wall for free-kicks in the PES2011 demo? We all hoped they would fix that...did they? Of course not, I saw it yesterday. Unbelievable.

Give us a break Konami, there is a reason why the community has to apply 20 patches to your game every year. Looks like we need 21 this year...but thanks for adding a handful of new animations and sounds. That really made me not notice the usual fatal flaws.

What's the best way to generate power in a shot? I am finding shooting not very satisfying so far. So far the best I have done is to generate maximum running speed with RT->RB before striking, but rarely does one get that space. Shots from a standing or jogging position seem very floaty to me.

I'm quite liking the demo, but there are a few things which bug me (no pun intended!):

- why do they still use that animation of the player sliding onto his backside when he's fouled ? This looked stupid in PES 2011 and is still there in the 2012 demo. How can Konami not notice it ?

- keepers are the worst I've seen in any PES so far. Straight forward shots seem to beat them easily and sometimes they dive too late. It's comical.

- keeper animations are still not fixed. They dive at unrealistic angles. Sometimes when theres a medium hight shot directly at the keeper, rather than standing still and saving or palming away, they seem to dive in a mid-air pivot. Weird.

I don't have much hope of any of these getting fixed for release as they've had a year to sort them from PES 2011.

The technique I've always use for PES shooting is hold down desired power, release, then direct the shot. The more time you have to direct the shot in a given direction, the more accurate it will be. I think if you use up/down whilst holding power this will create a hard/floaty shot. Not sure if thats correct, but its how it seems to work to me.

They need to tone down this damn close control and one touch from players ffs Vidic and Ferdinand have the same ball control as Messi should , look at this game I played on top player, look how easy it is to keep posession because of it and against Barca aswell

2nd thing that bothers me is that they YET again have not replicated posession football, as a matter of fact I don't see any difference between AI teams that use long ball tactic, quick counter or posession... I really don't.

For example all I see from Barca is PASS FORWARD, DRIBBLE PLAYER, PASS FORWARD , PASS FORWARD , DRIBBLE PLAYER, SHOOT, repeat..

There is no posession control, no passing around the pitch at all, thats rly disapointing.

This sums it up pretty well. The GK's are stunningly shit. What happened to all the Gamescom people talking about improved GK's (best yet, they said)? Is this demo code from earlier than the Gamescom code perhaps?

Your playing against the bloody AI. you cant expect the AI to reproduce a proper game of footy that real humans play! fo christ sakes add me to your steam friends list and when this game comes out i will play u 1v1 and show u the massive difference between playing me a real human then the AI

"referees call foul way too much. gk's and defence playershave too many bugs. gk's are too weak"
OMG, this was one of the tweets. You can kiss whatever potential this game had goodbye.

I don't see how hard it can be to program the AI to be more conservative and play around the pitch and hold the ball instead of rushing forward all the time always, I love BAL mode so I was hoping the teams would play different styles not just rush forward all the time, won't make it realistic.

LOL, you score a single goal and you only had 3 shots. The A.I seemed pretty damn successful against you.

Oh and programming A.I must be pretty fucking hard because you're not satisfied yet!

To be fair, I've mentioned that too. The CPU never knock it about, just go straight on the attack regardless. No passing in the defence, barely in midfield, just get the ball to the striker so he can run at the defence.

When I scored the goal I focused on keeping posession and not attacking anymore, I wanted to see how easy it is to keep posession once your ahead, and the end result was its pretty much no problem, even against Barca.

Yea I don't get why we have those different types of strategies if none seem to have much effect on the gameplay of the AI.

I still do not know why people compare PES with FIFA.
The games have different feel.
You can make PES doesn't look like Football in FIFA you can't because of the scripts. E.g. FIFA would not allow you to miss the ball if you want to volley-clear in the defense.
Same in some offense actions. In PES you can miss the ball. In FIFA you have only a few directions to shoot at which i personally do not like.

You clearly haven't played FIFA almost at all or have no experience of the settings in the menus and have played with all assists on, so...

i am sick of this pes5-6 or fifa is better stop it move on we are in 2011 not 2006 that it, lets forget about the past alredy, the old games is the past and now that what we have pes2012 and its a great game, not prefect, but still for me its the bast game out ever.

Maybe for you it is the best game ever, but not for the majority and because of that we compare games to see what's wrong and what should and could be fixed to make them better. If you're happy, be happy, don't come complain here.

I have a nagging feeling that if PES5 or 6 came out today, but modern graphics and 2011/12 squads, it would be completely slaughtered by both press and gamers. Seriously. It wouldn't stand a chance.

It seems to me the simplicity of PS2 gen made the game better?

Mayeb now they have too much technology, too much freedom etc..they are ''overcreating'' aspects, trying to make realistic but actually doesnt make a great game. Or is hard to perfect.

When they had less tools ''degrees of freedom'' to work with they coudl narrow down and concecntrate on maximising each aspect.

I dont knwo if I amke sense but take each aspect.

passing
goalies
Defending
Dribbling
Shooting

Now back in ps2 fays in creating the game each aspect had to be streamlined compared to today they have more tools to create each aspect in gameplay.

Hard for me to explain what I mean.

But in developing the game think off it like this.

If I gave you 10 pieces of lego and told you to make something with it you could prob make something cool quickly and efficiently and try out many combos and get make it perfect though simple design .

Now if I gave you 200 pieces of lego and told you to make one amazing thing you could spend months trying various pieces and combos and never make something quite perfect or be unsure which is the best. Maybe over time you could get something pretty good but still not perfect and quite complex.

With less options its easier to concentrate on making it perfect and simple.

This is just my personal opinion anyway.

I am more than sure than any PES title released, even if perfect, would be slaughtered, specially by recently joined members... same as every year from 2003...

Fact is when I used to play PEs on snes=ps1=ps2 it was addictive.

I would play game after game and even if I want to go to bed Id be like just 1 more, ok 1 more, ok 1 last game, well mayeb 1 more.

And each goal scored felt special. Like really well player or worked and watch replays over and over and compare and show to freinds.

Ive never had these feelings next-gen which shows something is wrong.

Well, PES 2011 is my most played football game ever, outside of SWOS, so to me it was addictive. Wether a game is addictive or not is not something that can be objectively measured. It's easy to look back and say games used to be better, because that feeling you felt back then will never be back, no matter how good the games get. I'm not talking about nostalgia, but the way your enjoyment of things can change over time. Back then you were probably a lot more forgiving than today, so if PES6 was released today, you'd probably hate it for its stiff controls, lack of manual passing, bad AI and only 8 directions of movement instead of 360 degrees.

Try and view the game objectively and not excuse its shortcomings because of its age, and you will easily see that PES5/6 can't really compare to the new ones. Fun, yes, I still play PES6 now and then, but they are in no way a proper substitute for modern football games to me.

But that's just me. ;)

Well also off course I was much younger back then..SO that could be an issue. Obivously when young I just gamed all day
