PES 2011 vs 2012 vs 2013?

It's always good to see this trilogy get some love, it really does feel sandwiched between PS2 PES, and the early PS3 installments which kept a similar formula, and the FOX Engine ones. I find PES2011 to be the best simulation, while PES2013 is the better video game for most people, though PES2012 was the only one I actually bought, early on I regretted that because players felt so light, shooting was unsatisfying, and defending felt impossible for a younger me, but it was the only one I owned until I bouth PES2015, so in 3 years I got the hang of it and learned to love it, especially since it introduced a feature I love nowadays, FUMA. I don't think you're missing out by not playing it more, because PES2011 and PES2013 are superior, but if you do ever get back to it for another go, what I recommend is to avoid pressing, just do the hold up play/jockey and let go of the button when you absolutely need to try a tackle, or if it's an easier tackle to get right, the shooting also grew on me because of how unpredictable it is, and FUMA... feels great here, I recommend it.

What I didn't like about the trio is that Konami didn't really carry on the players stats update after the winter update, the way they did for PES 2009-2010. They did some updated for players but the same in term of quantity like the ones mentionned. I can mention Neymar on PES 2011.

The only real issue I have with PES 2012 is the training system, with the assigned points.. It still seems a bit confusing to me, that in order to guarantee growth in players you have to switch the training regime every week. I've read in some forums that there is supposedly a "formula", (technique/tactics/physical/speed) but I was never quite able to figure it out. Maybe someone with experience in PES 2012 ML can illuminate? Otherwise, from the exhibitions I've played, it seems like a very solid game, a mix of PES 2011's midfield battles and 2013's dynamism.

Well, I'll give you my personal opinion on all three games. I played them extensively on the PS3 when each one was released, and I recently redownloaded them all to play on PC.

Well, 2011's gameplay is quite clunky; you don't have full control over marking players; it's very automated, not to mention the gameplay is quite robotic. 2012's a very fast-paced game; you can easily move from the defensive half to the attack and score goals with ease. However, the passing and even shooting speeds are exaggerated. Not to mention, the ball seems to stick to the players' feet, like glue. 2013 was the sweet spot for all of them; you have more autonomy to score, shoot, dribble, and even use goalkeepers, despite the significant shortcomings of long balls, which could have easily been fixed in PES 2014, but the rest is history. Clearly, the trilogy was a period of creation and adaptation until PES 2013.

The graphics are excellent for their time; I think they're very similar, and logically, they improved over time. I'll stick with all three games. Gameplay-wise, I'll stick with PES 2013. I think it's the most balanced of the three games and still very entertaining for everyone. The playlist could have been better, too, but that's not something I consider that important.

1st PES 2013
2nd PES 2012
3rd PES 2011

I replayed that trilogy, and got a blast with that 2012 version which seems not perhaps the most sim but the one that i would purpose to start if you ask me to choose and you never played those version.
I remember i was unhappy with the removal of stats but some could've be calculated with height or something like that parameters but i'm too old and disinterested for searching about those game.

About my very bad opinion about PES 2013, it's perhaps the one with the most content and tactics. But i agree in many factors
@BluesyShrimper mentionned, especially about all the weird things happening in the game, the "playing on mars" effect and there's too much sign that the 2.5 engine is breathing out of his lungs as they tried to add too much stuffs for a pretty weird result and tons of missing animation transition or when you kick the ball the animation isn't corresponding at all at the ball direction like an open footed shoot with the movement turning to the opposite side...
There's nothing of it on the 2 others games....
BUT i don't hate it that much, it's not like all we mentionned happens always except the open bar midfield/defense if you don't move all by yourself which is a bit annoying, then the not that much effective pressing and tackles.

1. 2011 for the long term, harder to learn / 2012 on the short term and easier to take in hands. I can't choose anymore

3. 2013 is now out of my 4-5 hated but i still think it's a wayyy too overrated game, here at least, probably loved because of his "unpredictability", well from my side of view it's more players awareness too limited against and the ball physics causing rebounds with a special trajectory / in the good sense : the rebound system on players or anything else was good

Hello people and merry christmas, i wanted to ask the users that are knowledgeable about image editing how to achieve the light and shadow effect seen in these logos:

Screenshot_2025-12-27-19-45-20-155_com.android.chrome~01.jpg

I mean which program is recomended like photoshop or GIMP, or if there is any tutorial aviable on the internet.

They were originally created by @ovit, but he is not active since a long time so i don't think i can ask him for information, these custom logo designs are some of my favorites ever and were used in many patches, especially the PesEdit PC series for PES 2010 to 2013 for example, here is the original thread:

Hey guys!

Wanted to share an updated opinion on PES 2011 (PC). It's quite strange but I havent been able to enjoy it at all recently, even after trying several matches. The passing always seems broken to me. I remember some users mentioned that they found this installment to be quite solid, but I'm having a tough time getting into it. Seems to me like playing with anything under a 3.5 level team is extremely frustrating, muddy, very little rhythm, the gameplay seems to be missing a bit of snap IMO..... Coming from PES 2013 (with the gameplay tool which adds ball speed to 130 and ball weight to 145, makes it REALLY good, and in my updated opinion, makes it the best out of the three and with the tool, one of the best PES), I am really struggling with PES 2011 nowadays.. I would like to hear you guys' take.. Is there something I'm missing? Because it is quite frustrating at the moment, and I'd like to see if I can get more enjoyment out of the game.. 🤷‍♂️

Wanted to post somewhere about my experience trying out 2012 which I never played other than the demo all those years ago as I kinda gave up on pes during those times. I have played 2013 fairly recently and it just annoyed me so I gave up on it, I really did try to like it

Played around 50 games now on 2012 it's just been such a blast it's way more fun that 2013 and the goal variation the AI scores against you is way better than 2013 also. The animations on these games are very weird looking and funny but the gameplay is so smooth and fun I can look past that.

Overall really challenging game and a lot of fun mixed in with some hilariously weird moments and I like it better then 2013

Did they add new shooting animations in 2013? I feel like the ones in 2012 are all pretty much the same sadly

PES 10 has to be the most beautiful looking PES game on Xbox 360. It just looked visually perfect and it still holds up. It was one of those game that made my jaws dropped. Overall gameplay and AI was definitely much more improved compared to PES 08. On PES 08 you could feel the stiffness and on rails feeling a bit too much, I think it was worse than any ps2 era pes games in that matter. Something never felt right on that game, not that it's a boring game. I'd enjoy PES 08 for what it was.

Being that said, I feel like PES 10 had horrible input delay when turning the players. It was just a bit too much, you'd end up with balls going out of play and it lead to frustrations. This is something that was completely sorted out on PES 11 onwards. Overall, honestly I enjoyed all the x360 era PES games. The biggest factor that were present in those games- which is completely missing on newer PES and FIFA games are how different each of these games looked and felt. The difference was huge enough that you can play each of these games and it feels refreshing [except for PES 12 vs 13 visually I guess, but the overall gameplay felt different enough in those two games].

Vanilla i prefer Pes 12 over 13, and 11 over 13 as well.
Had one of my best ML on Pes 11 back when.
Can't really decide which of 11 or 12 I have on top, two great games, 13 has a horrible AI but great content, just attack attack attack

Not to mention that those PES versions from PS3/XBox360 had the best menus in any football game, best ML & BAL besides so many offline modes, great soundtrack and filled with unlockables...

Menus were work of art. Actually the whole games were. They get too much hate and rightfully so. But recently we have been getting so much trash [not just football games but games in general], that these older games feel like gem. Wish microtransactions never became a thing. What a shame.

Mate, I can to remember similar own impressions, when I was tryed even PES 2013 PS3 version after latest modern PES 2021 on PS4 (at the same time), and I can say truly - it was a opening from my side, that game much more years ago made by developers have too it's own unique things inside and "feeling of a strong finished product with it's own idea and cool gameplay".

Exactly, rightly noted.

obviously pes 2008 is better graphic version game of pes 6 with same gameplay

No, PES 6 and PES 2008 have very different kind and whole ideas of gameplay base.
At least for PC, do not know exactly about PS2.
