PES 2011 Discussion thread

I think maybe a mix of all of those? The CPU doesn't barge in anymore, but then I don't get called for silly fouls either. You still get fouls for standing tackles but it's not like the demo where the slightest touch drew the whistle.

Did PES 2010 have a "play-on" symbol or am I thinking of FIFA? Sometimes you think it could've been a foul but it's not given and I wonder if it would've been a foul if the CPU had the ball afterwards.

Cynical fouls are still fouls, don't worry there. It's really just the "fouls" that were given in the demo that wouldn't ever really be given in real life, they're no longer given in the full game either. More realistic.

Sounds good to me, thanks for the heads up. How is Jim Beglin as co-commentator ?

I wrote on Konamy official forum on 09.09.2010 about this bug
http://forums.pesfan.com/showthread.php?t=233149
that i named "Green Zone Crossing Bug", linking some videos....

YouTube - Pes 2011 DEMO Crossing Bug.mov
YouTube - Pes 2011 DEMO Crossing Bug (Different Angle)

Then probably i was the first one to see this bad issue that spoils the gameplay, even on "Top Player".

No feedback from Konamy:the so called moderators simply closed it.
I do'nt think it will be addressed in final version.
Cheers

I tested this your 100% right it's the ONLY bug which is serious in this game.

It's not necessarily just the 'green zone' it's the who issue of players backing up ridiculously without even thinking of making a challenge but there's a simple fix really.

Konami should just increase the aggressiveness of the CPU in the crossing area! There, fixed :) Still it's not QUITE game breaking as such since it's not easy to get there in the first place!

I think I'll be fixed, the CPU in general isn't aggressive in this demo, a simple tweak will change all that!

I was going to offer a long-winded response as to why I think your opinion on this particular attack is flawed, but Tibi and fernadez more or less covered the basis of what I was going to say. Appreciate it.

Just a few things.

Why didn't I pass to him earlier? Mainly because the lone CB wasn't closing Berba down, thus I decided to turn and take the space in anticipation of Park running into the oppositions half. The player that began to trail Park, was left for dead by the time Rooney headed the ball on. There was no one directly in front of him, he would have had the entire right side to himself.

Why on earth would I want to conserve possession during what should have been a routine counter attack? As soon as I saw Park make that run, conserving possession didn't even enter my mind. Overrunning their defense did though.

Park isn't suitable for counter attacking football? This goal popped into my head immediately.
YouTube - CL 2008 09 Manchester United vs Arsenal Ronaldo Goal16 05 09

Also note Rooney getting into space in order to play in Ronaldo.

I'm back, and since there's nothing going on tonight i think I'll reply!

What i don't like about people moaning about player runs is that they ALWAYS seem so one track minded! Why can't you see that in that exact video which i was going to post to illustrate my point what is wrong!

Look how fast every player in that video reacted! Cristiano with the flick STRAIGHT AWAY! Now in that video where you moaning, you meander with Berbatov for a few seconds! Why didn't you do a manual pass into the space? I mean from what i see You should have passed to Park earlier imo! I stand by that i don't give a shit if you all think I'm a wrong. I'm explaining my point and trying to present it validly! Whats wrong with questioning the moaner to why not try something else that wait for the AI!

I would only agree if the player runs in the game frustrated me! But it dosen't, if you let the ball do the work with is essential in counter attacks it's never an issue!

To be honest my MAIN concern with people wanting 'better' player runs is that if Konami change it, were going to have bugs and issues where players just blindly run forward way out of position then we will get even more moaners complaining about players not staying in their position!

Sorry i don't agree!

Also Park isn't a traditional counter attacker! Yes, i mean for god's sake that was a goal which i wanted to show you an example why! That goal was because of the Pace and power of Ratface and Rooney! Park provided a great pass (making the ball do the work!

Look at how Park struggled to keep pace with ratface and Rooney! Also Park didn't even make a run, he was layed the ball instantly to RUN ON TO by Ratface! You cannot WAIT for anyone in this game!

i seriously suspect klash/jimmy being connected to Konami somehow. they're always coming out to defend the game, even to the point that it makes no sense. player runs were so normal in old-gen pes?!

How many times have i told you i don't give a shit about what company makes football games! Just as long as it feels like football! I even wrote to Ubisoft to see if they actually wanted to use the very shit but basic next gen engine they had for pure football for a proper sim!

What, because i hate FIFA 10 it means i hate EA! Shut up! Seriously Shit up!

I been playing FIFA all my life! I like everytime i my class was addicted to FIFA 95, 96, etc.. back on the old megadrive. It was my cousins in 96 who first introduced me to ISS! Even the i still played FIFA, and have done so every single year!

I'm defending the game in terms of player runs because i feel people who are moanin are one track minded and haven't experimented enough`!

I also feel that people moaning about the dribbling being 'clunky' simply haven't got to grips with the new system! I take it this dribbling in this video is clunky and it's 'hard' to turn etc..
YouTube - PES 2011 Demo Dribbling!
Really! I mean what i don't get is if Konami just made PES 5/6 with new graphics people will still moan and complain about being the SAME game as it was back years ago!
What the hell do you want? Why can't you learn about he new game and not jump to conclusions!

Is the "jog bug" still in the Full game?

How do you find the responsiveness and is the game smoother?

The game has finally clicked for me so response isn't much of an issue anymore, but would be nice if it was slightly "smoother".

Never had a problem with response in 2011 to be honest, I got used to 2010 so 2011 is fine :)

It feels like the game might be a bit smoother than the demo, also might be some better animations as well.

Can you tell me about graphics on PS3. Full ver. looks better than demo? Less pixelated or not difference? Thank in advance.

Here's a pic of the full game. Awesome graphics. Greener pitch. Vivid colors. Great AI. Lovely scoreboard.

What Lami said.

I don't tend to notice such thing so can't really say I've noticed a difference. Graphics look good enough to me though.

Welcome back Jimmy.

As for the complaints about player runs. I don't have the problem at all. If I want wingers or SBs overlapping I set the formations accordingly.
We are dealing with artificial intelligence and it's exactly that...artificial.

One thing I noticed and I have mentioned it before in the MLO beta, the aggression of the players played a big part in their off the ball runs. In the PES demo this isn't easy to spot as there are less players and teams to test it on. But if you're playing with Internacional change Kleber with Leonardo and tell me there isn't a difference between the 2. Leonardo is always doing the run into space outwide.

I've been playing vs friends the last few days, and we have been seeing ai defenders standing FLAT-FOOTED on thru balls alot, taking horrible angles on them. They're running parallel with the attacker, instead of just cutting off the angle when they're in position to do so, and making the easy interception.

This is a big defencive ai flaw that can ruin 2 player games also, not just games vs the cpu, like the other one. When you watch the replays closely, it tells it all. The ai defenders never try for the sliding tackle to intercept the ball rolling by them or even strech out their leg far, if they need to. They just stand there like zombies, or react horribly when the thru pass is made, taking a step in the complete direction when the ball is being played, or just marking their men like complete shit, leaving the attacker wide open for the easy pass.

I agree with the flat footedness, there's a need for more blocking and cutting animations! BUT only to an extent! The majority of defenders are big, strong and aren't very agile so they should be to an extent suspect to through balls to quick passing if for example your playing a high line with slow defenders :)

Funny thing is if you just watch 50 or so standard goals you will be very surprised to see how casual the defending looks and actually mirrors how they react on PES! I mean, you don't always see defne4rs diving everywhere and sticking a foot out to make the last ditch block! I does need improving, your right but it's not quite that bad! :))

Keeping possesion feels too easy also, with alot of space to work with, it seemed like. ( We both had the pressing set to 15 too ) This is reminding me of pes6 again, it felt and looked pretty good at first, but when you really start playing it and getting better, all the the defencive flaws start to show, and then you start getting a bunch of 4-3 games all the time. And nobody wants that. Not ppl who enjoy playing a realistic game anyways.

Nah, i not easy for me to keep the ball vs my mates, they just charge at me :CONFUSE: . Ususal foul me with slide tackles! It's isn't effective, i just dribble past them! Scored a goal beating 6 of my players teammates with Ribery! :WORSHIP:

Now remember, this is comming from someone who has only been playing WE9 on 25 min games ( with realistic scorelines ) for years now, so i'm sure ppl who have been playing the more recent versions are probably alot more used to the weaker defences.

Rah! 25 minutes :CONFUSE: Did you edit the stats aswell? I mean even the great WE9/PES5 i had high scorelines here and there!

I remember with FIFA 08 at times i played with 10/15 minutes (20/30 minutes in total). games felt realsitic but i haven't tried that on PES in a while!

I think the play-on symbol comes back from PES 5 or 4, but Konami already had it.

When I hear people talking about player runs I just don't understand I see plenty of runs the only question is just if I can spot them on perfect time. when I see people arguing about that I jut think they in true honesty want an easier game where player make wonderfull runs and you just have to make a through ball pass the defence wall. Come on... The runs are there just open your eyes and gain some skill...

Edit: Freekicks look awesome this year. I scored already a few (probably more than in the whole PES 2010 era) and I haven't played that much...

I think the referees do change in this game as in PES4?(correct me if i'm wrong) where you could pick on a star basis on strictness 4* giving more fouls 1* giving less. This may be in, but the option to choose the ref may not be in to add to the "realism".

You can't pick Howard Webb every week can you?

Anyone know what happens if you want to play on , say +2 and your buddy wants to play on 0. I'm talking online.

You will break the space-time continuum and a black hole will swallow the earth.

Well, after what has seemed like the longest 5 days in the history of mankind, I’ve made my way back to my hunting ground with a renewed vigour.

I told you Pesfan was shit.

(welcome back, good to have you on-board again)

I liked the asian referee who was so strict he would give red cards with a huge smile on his face :)

Is there an option to have the AI teams not have a cursor?! I get sick of seeing player names floating over the players the whole time. I managed to get it turned off on my own players, but I couldn't get the control over the CPU team. I'm assuming you can change that in the full game, or am I totally missing something in the demo?

I miss the old player name bars at the bottom of the screen. I guess there's no option to turn these on?

Tnx, can't stand it! :D

@ James,

I guess, atm I have everything turned off. Don't like all the stuff hovering around the players, and have set my own cursor to "1" otherwise I can't tell who I am. Would be nice to have the option to have the bars at the bottom back, although I have to say I can recognise the players anyway, and it's kind of nice to have to time everything manually without a powerbar helping you out. So I don't miss them, it's just having your screen filled with player names is really poor imo, aswell as the other stuff. They have gotten the lighting and presentation down yet they polute the screen with all this other stuff! I would much rather have a very minimalistic power/staminabar at the very bottom of the screen (maybe under the radar) to keep as little on screen as possible.

It was worth it to see the quadruplets carry you off on a stretcher!!

I think i remember looking through game graphic studio and looking at the files... there was a set for each continent

It seems pretty good in my opinion, yep. Each stand can be edited, different colour seats, different backgrounds for each end, fences, different dugouts, advertisement board colours, pitch type, floodlit pitch type.

I think it'll be quite useful to editors.

what about editing teams, have you tried to load up a pes 2010 optionfile to pes 2011?

Can you do enclosed arenas like the Emirates or the Allianz Arena?

Can't wait to see what people create and post in the editing forum.
