PES 2011 Discussion thread

#pes2011 #PESdemo I'm aware of the 'jog bug' in the demo. Final code checked and issue appears to be fixed. Will doubled check with team 5 minutes ago via TweetDeck

what 'jog bug' is he talking about?
The one where the defender doesn't pressure you if you are jogging I guess. I wish I hadn't known bout the bug, because I never noticed it until I saw all these videos and posts. Now I'm consciously aware of it, and it feels like I'm enjoying the game less. Still love the other parts of the game though. Hmm, if only my memory could be wiped. lol

I disagree, Fifa looks soft and fuzzy whereas PES looks sharper. It may be down to the lack of anti-aliasing but it looks much more crisp.

In my opinion PES 2010 had better lighting, colors, grass textures and anti aliasing. Pes 2010 looks miles better than Pes 2011 in graphics department on PS3. PES 2011 is not sharper but more jaggy.

You can add spin to the ball be it back, side or top by clever foot placement of your players and using the angles of the pitch just like real life and by pushing and holding your left stick in the required direction just as the ball leaves your players foot(relative to the direction your player is facing, and how a real pro would use his boot and foot to add swerve, dip and curl). It takes practise and timing but is a welcome addition and adds another layer.Everythings super subtle in this new game and i can let the ball bounce up with a hard pass from another player off my players feet and hit a instant long pass when the ball is in the air that elevates then dips, real clever shit.Theres also a multitude of contact points with the ball that creates different results based on how you time the execution, how your player is planted on the pitch and his foot and body position. You have the option whether you hit a instant header, chest trap or let the ball drop to feet, its all in the timing.Dont stab at buttons and time the connection you want with the ball perfectly, this is paramount in mastering the depth of shooting which is all ball, player and foot position. This is nothing like previous pes games that were totally automated and stat driven.

You dont have to use the l2 or manual modifier this can be done with any short, long or through pass as well as shooting.I use backspin on long balls and long passes so the ball slows down when it lands so it doesnt over run.

Its there to a degree in the pes2011 demo but is fully implemented in the we2011 demo and another example of the differences between the two demos. On the previous page of this thread theres a video of me doing a long ball with backspin and you can see how the ball slows and spins back.

Regarding passing..

1) Has the momentum of the passes been fixed?
In the Pes2011 demo, if you make a pass down the wing, for instance, the ball slows down rather abruptly. It doesn't look right at all. Normally you can usually tell soon after you've made contact with the ball whether it's overhit or not. In PES what looks like an overhit pass somehow magically stays in play (it's as tho you're constantly playing on a water logged pitch is probably the best description) when in reality it would have rolled out of play.

2) Has the powering up of passes etc been sorted?
In the PES2011 demo just a tap of, for example, the lofted pass button sends the ball halfway down the pitch.

And, on a side note, has shooting been improved? PES2011 (demo) should been renamed "Floaty Shots 2011" :P

Sorry if you've already answered these issues

Jon Murphy's last tweet is the last proof that the demo is not final code (despite Jon Murphy claiming it himself beforehand), it appears like between demo and full version a bugfixing-phase was gone through... and that is only good for us:APPLAUD:.

Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade, but let's wait 'til we get a real confirmation that the jog-bug is NOT in the final version - he said he had to double-check.

Let's hope it's true, but better to be safe than sorry ;)

But in closing, having the realisation of the depth the game has, has taken it to a whole new level for me, I think it is necessary to play with the lesser teams to appreciate it, it is very much a simulation and requires that it played as one to get the full enjoyment.

I do enjoy PES2011 more playing as Guadalajara or Internacional. Perhaps it's the slower pace?

I really hope the full version will allow us to set the game speed below 0

On the PC version I've tried to install the 30 teams patch and I did follow the instruction as accurately as possible but whenever I try to load teams with the windows 7 command line (pes_hio.exe) it doesn't work and I only play with AC Milan and Real Madrid replacing the 2 SA teams

Run pes_hio.exe as admin.

could someone kindly explain the linking feints option in the team management screen please?

i understand you assign tricks to the right stick and you can assign upto 4 tricks to each direction.

if for example i assign the rainbow flick then an elastico and then a front flick for when i press the right stick up, will my player automatically do all three tricks one after the other? or do i need to flick the right stick up three times to do all three tricks? ie if i flicked up once would my player only do the rainbow flick?

hope i've explained myself ok and someone could help,

thanks

really sorry to quote myself but can someone help with my question please?
thanks

How about you try it out yourself? Set the gamedifficulty on beginner and you should have all the time in the world to check these things out.

Oh, ffs, come on - that's not the way to work things out in a community, is it?

Indeed, it is the first option you mention. When you press L1+Right stick up, your player will automatically do all 3 tricks, one after the other. There's no way to stop the sequence. Notice that it is L1 + Stick, and NOT L2 + Stick.

Sorry for the late reply.

If you search back some pages, there is a video tutorial about it.

Why? Isn't it better and more satisfactorily to find some things out on your own. In this case it's a pretty simple thing, either the tricks come out one after another or you have to press three times in the direction.

It's a binary thing, either or... a simple selftest at beginner-difficulty would reveal it.

cheers pal,
i appreciate it

you sure the floaty shots have been fixed in the WE demo?

The ball physics are top notch in the we demo and superior to the pes2011 demo, they just look and feel right, theres no stupid power balls being shot out like a cannon, the power bars not as sensitve but you still have to be very gentle with the power of shots and make sure your body and feet are right and you time the contact with the ball perfectly(think about how much your player is moving relative to how much power you put on the ball. Its not like pes2010 or the ps2 where its so auto as you can be very precise and can add backlift to the ball.Push forward to drive through and back to elevate, you can add spin and even chip the keeper by pulling back on the left stick and this is also how the chipped lofted free kicks works using the circle button on the ps3.

Try to hit the ball away from your feet your get a cleaner hit when its in front of you and on long drives if you have the time push the ball in front(knock on)r1+r2 to really drive through it and hit it clean. You can also knock the ball on to the sides now in pes2011.

Its brilliant when you click with it,i can place the ball low high or where i want and can open my body up at a side angle on shots.

This is a game that throws out the old pes rule book, different game.

Why do that if you have a tutorial in place that can make things much easier for you?

Easier, yes, but it's imho more satisfactory to find simple things out for yourself first and then one can watch the tutorials to see how not so simple things and elements work, what things are possible beyond what one could find out for oneself...

Still prefer tutorials tbh. I'd like to know what I'm doing instead of waste time trying to figure out.

On a corporate level it would be nice if Konami had clearly stated this before they launched the demo.

I will be buying the game and I really enjoy it as I try to recreate football the way it is in real life ie sometimes passing backwards to go forwards and there are great levels of sutblety.

However this lack of clarity may have confused or turned away some disgruntled customers.
