PES 2011 Discussion thread

Has anybody managed to get a penalty after being fouled by the goalkeeper? I've been fouled by the GK twice but no penalty was given on both occasions. One was the most blatant foul you will ever see, sending my player arse over head. Hope this is not another bug.
Yep, only the once though. Valdes got a booking for felling Robben. And I've had around 4 or 5 possible penalties not given for when a keeper has gone Rambo.

prorevo.de has the final version of PES 2011 for PC, the version that goes to retail and one of those playing it said on twitter that it were much smarter and smoother than the demo-version.

Maybe some, hopefully most, of the bugs and problems were already solved.

The REAL BUG for me is PS3 pixeled and low detailed graphics

(Did Anyone give a look at free kick screen...The detail of players is ridicolous...I guess this year is better to play the game with standard definition tv )

Thanks, that's somewhat reassuring, though hope someone can confirm CPU GKs can give away penalties too.

Edit: now confirmed by proxi, but it does seem like keepers can get away with fouls too often.

How's that a bug? If you care about graphics that much then PES probably isn't the right game for you and chances are it never will be. It's not like it's terrible on PS3, jeez...

Graphics in a football game is not the first issue...but...
I think PS3 can do so much better than this...:BOP:

Heres two videos showing how the cpu ai does react in the winning eleven 2011 demo in top player on the ps3 and how this build is ahead of the pes2011 demo.Im japan and watch how the cpu trys to put a foot in and close me down.

YouTube - WINNING ELEVEN 2011 DEMO CPU AI DEFENCE ON TOP PLAYER

I hope this puts to bed this theory that the pes2011 demo is complete code and silences the fifa naysayers.

YouTube - winning eleven 2011 demo goal from goal kick

Goal from a goal kick showing the subtlety of timing and the subtlety of the passing system.

Someone mentioned that the graphics in the demo are lowered or something, to lower the filesize of the demo, not sure if thats bs or not.

Just checked a video of the preview code showing all the teams in game... The only South American teams they were able to select were the one's we had before...

I just feel very disappointed at Konami. I think there's been much grey areas in terms of Konami comunication about licences and I think it has been because of this litle big detail.

I just hope we at least can play friendlies between Copa Libertadores teams...

There is an exhibition mode within the copa libetadores menu option I think.

What fifa naysayers?

There is a clear bug in the PES-demo, is it also in the WE-demo?

And what console-version of WE do you have... is it possible to get the xbox360-version of the WE-demo from Europe using a Japan-silver-account?

I have heard some trying that got only the european PES-demo with no Japan and no Spain.

Besides these short video-snippets don't say very much, I can find instances in the PES-demo where everything is fine and smart, but then instances come where soemthing falls apart. Can't you film a whole match from widecam on top-player?

That would be wonderful and we could actually see if the WE-demo is indeed superior.

guys, we have to highlight this problem very loudly
even if it's not 100% effective it's really annoying knowing that it's there and that it can ruin an almost perfect game
Konami must fix it asap if this issue is still in final game

I have also tried this on the WE demo and it is there.

It only works if there is one defender near you and if you do NOT press R1. Just walk or jog slowly up and down the line and the defender will not tackle you. You can then just press R1 and make some room to cross the ball in.

We've been saying that.

People need to alert Jon Murphy via Twitter, or alternatively email Konami Europe?

Look im not going to waste anymore of my time trying to demonstate that theres not issues with players freezing in the we2011 demo,im a tester and i put 25 games in last night and i never had one instance of players not reacting be they my own or the cpu or was i able to walk down the corner line and score. These are only issues in the pes2011 demo and there occassional.

This game is the bomb and the cpu ai on top player in the we demo is perfect.Im going to sit back enjoy the demo for the next 10 days in the knowledge that this game is refined to perfection. If you and others want to waste yours doubting me and konami, then so be it,your the ones who are going to have egg on your face come release and look very short sighted making claims on a demo thats not even the finished game and isnt as optimised as the we demo.

Like ive said a million times, the ais reactive be it yours and the cpu,the better you play the better the cpu ai will and your own players.Ive got other videos of players making runs all other the park and demonstrating how i get the best out of this game by playing with the edit management settings and knowing how to time and use the feet of my players and when to execute the perfect killer ball.

YouTube - winning eleven 2011 demo pass and move and player runs

Watch the movement of my winger, and the subtlety of the passing system. Also look at the my teamates when i have the ball and how there making the movements to run onto a through ball or recieve a pass.

This game is genius and a footballing masterclass in the execution of ai and the facets of football.Eat your heart out EA,youve been trumped and your game has been exposed for what it is a yo-yo passing game thats devoid of personality and SOUL!!!

One for skilled players and those with a footballing brain this, that pays tribute and brings back alot of the magic and control of the ISS and perfect striker series on the n64 created by the late but great Mr. Katsuya Nagae(who sadly died in 2008).

I don't get it, why so defensive? I merely asked for a complete match-video from widecam on top-player...

A few pages back you have promised to film such complete matches to show me how to play the game in a more intune way.

It would serve two goals: Teaching me and others how to play the game well and showing that the WE-demo is superior to the PES-demo.

Yes I agree with you. On PS3 PES 2011 looks extremly pixelated. FIFA on Ps3 looks miles better (shock)Sometimes on wide cam i don't see clearly model of pleyers but pixel:SHOCK:

I guess PS3 version missing anti-aliasing filter...
This is Why PC version looks so better ;)

I've noticed the same thing and even on my old crappy machine PES looks better on PC but the lack of AA is by no means as important as say the touchline bug.

If I'm playing on manual settings, is there way to swerve\curve the ball? (passing\shooting)
in Fk's\Corners i know i can..

I've been playing vs friends the last few days, and we have been seeing ai defenders standing FLAT-FOOTED on thru balls alot, taking horrible angles on them. They're running parallel with the attacker, instead of just cutting off the angle when they're in position to do so, and making the easy interception.

This is a big defencive ai flaw that can ruin 2 player games also, not just games vs the cpu, like the other one. When you watch the replays closely, it tells it all. The ai defenders never try for the sliding tackle to intercept the ball rolling by them or even strech out their leg far, if they need to. They just stand there like zombies, or react horribly when the thru pass is made, taking a step in the complete direction when the ball is being played, or just marking their men like complete shit, leaving the attacker wide open for the easy pass.

Keeping possesion feels too easy also, with alot of space to work with, it seemed like. ( We both had the pressing set to 15 too ) This is reminding me of pes6 again, it felt and looked pretty good at first, but when you really start playing it and getting better, all the the defencive flaws start to show, and then you start getting a bunch of 4-3 games all the time. And nobody wants that. Not ppl who enjoy playing a realistic game anyways.

Now remember, this is comming from someone who has only been playing WE9 on 25 min games ( with realistic scorelines ) for years now, so i'm sure ppl who have been playing the more recent versions are probably alot more used to the weaker defences.

I disagree, Fifa looks soft and fuzzy whereas PES looks sharper. It may be down to the lack of anti-aliasing but it looks much more crisp.

That works only with Fifa 11 but not PES 2011 or WE 2011.. the demos from Konami are consolebound! That means they are only playable on the console they were downloaded to the first time.

Imho it's rediculous to bound demos to the specific console they were downloaded from, they are demos and should be freely distributeable.

Really? I never even knew that was possible for a demo, that's ludicrous! So not only do Konami force you to watch a 10 minute trailer after every match they lock the demo to single consoles, are they really trying to send potential customers away?

You can add spin to the ball be it back, side or top by clever foot placement of your players and using the angles of the pitch just like real life and by pushing and holding your left stick in the required direction just as the ball leaves your players foot(relative to the direction your player is facing, and how a real pro would use his boot and foot to add swerve, dip and curl). It takes practise and timing but is a welcome addition and adds another layer.Everythings super subtle in this new game and i can let the ball bounce up with a hard pass from another player off my players feet and hit a instant long pass when the ball is in the air that elevates then dips, real clever shit.Theres also a multitude of contact points with the ball that creates different results based on how you time the execution, how your player is planted on the pitch and his foot and body position. You have the option whether you hit a instant header, chest trap or let the ball drop to feet, its all in the timing.Dont stab at buttons and time the connection you want with the ball perfectly, this is paramount in mastering the depth of shooting which is all ball, player and foot position. This is nothing like previous pes games that were totally automated and stat driven.

You dont have to use the l2 or manual modifier this can be done with any short, long or through pass as well as shooting.I use backspin on long balls and long passes so the ball slows down when it lands so it doesnt over run.

Its there to a degree in the pes2011 demo but is fully implemented in the we2011 demo and another example of the differences between the two demos. On the previous page of this thread theres a video of me doing a long ball with backspin and you can see how the ball slows and spins back.

Me and a old friend spent years playing majorAs games by konami,so it hasnt taken me long to master or click with the depth and layers of this game.Konami should shout about this stuff more but they want the end user to discover these things in there own time, its what the magic of discovery is all about. Those games by majorA are often percieved as arcade like and shallow compared to pes on the ps2 but the reality was there control mechanics and ai was light years ahead of anything that has preluded pes2011.

Do you need back spin on passes coming back from FIFA I find it almost impossible to kick a ball too long or out of play they slow so much... :P

I'm going to have to put a lot of time into this when the full games out I can see...:))

It's true, I have two xbox360-consoles, one at my brother's home and one in mine, and I downloaded the demo with my gold-account on my brother's home, played it there a while.

Then I put it and the Fifa 11-demo on an usb-stick and took it with me to the xbox360 in my home, loaded both on... Fifa 11-demo started just normal, PES-demo said something like: This game doesn't start here.

I first thought it were maybe bound to the profile I used on the other xbox360, I went over again, took my gold-account from there and loaded it on the xbox360 in my home... but it didn't want to play either...

Only when I'm online with that profile the game starts, when I'm offline it doesn't. So it's profilebound and consolebound, but when being with the right profile online the console gets ignored.

Just to let you know. Doesn't mean much, though, but it's a start.

Please make a full match-video from widecam with WE on top-player with Bayer vs Barca... I have tried to find some on youtube but it only gives out PES 2011.

The game certainly has its share of problems but the majority of what's being said just seems like poor craftsmen blaming their tools.

so, we can smile again
it appears it's fixed in final code
now, let's make Konami fix other bugs...
because i'm sure there will be some :P

#pes2011 #PESdemo I'm aware of the 'jog bug' in the demo. Final code checked and issue appears to be fixed. Will doubled check with team 5 minutes ago via TweetDeck

what 'jog bug' is he talking about?

Jon Murphy's last tweet is the last proof that the demo is not final code (despite Jon Murphy claiming it himself beforehand), it appears like between demo and full version a bugfixing-phase was gone through... and that is only good for us:APPLAUD:.
