PES 2011 Discussion thread

Hey Buzzy great post.

Are you downloading the PC demo?? Can't wait to see the various mods that come this year given stadium editor etc.

Make sure we set some time aside thiss term for some games my freind:BOP:
no doubt that stupid 30min cutscene at the end of the demo can be removed via a mod on the pc version hehe

I'm bored of the demo already for this reason, I know you can quit to the XMB and restart all before that stupid video ends but its too much hassle.

Thankfully I'll have two more demo's to play on Tuesday, I just hope they don't make the same mistake.

Watching Ribery in that video has reminded me of the Bundesliga again, does anyone know whether all of those players will be missing from ML again or will they be in the game somewhere? National teams etc.

When the game ends just hold the PS Button, quit the demo and then load it again, loads up quicker than waiting for the trailer to end.

yeah but i use a strange button config and i like the normal long cam instead of wide cam,it takes me just a long to set all that up:COAT:

Hi m8, Nah cant be bothered downloading the demo :CONFUSE: Yeah right just joking there. I absolutley will and cant bloody wait!

Yeah look forward for some online battles with ya. catch ya later :BYE:

EDIT - oh yeah in my experience year on year the quality of the pc mods/patches improves so given last years modded masterpiece things will only get better in that dept.

i initially noticed that the same old goalkeeper going for the ball with the hand furthest away was still evident as it was in PES 5.

What do you mean? I said in another a thread, if the ball is above you and to your right, you use your left to palm it away, easiest and best way. Is this what you mean? It's not the wrong hand at all if that's what you mean.

hold down square then pick which way you want to dive(direction)so hold button 1st then when player coming to kick the ball use L stick or dpad to dive left or right

Appreciate that mate. I haven't been able to dive in any PK situation. My goalie has just stood there and I ofcourse have been baffled at my controller commands not responding.

So it's "X" plus L-Stick for low dive, and "square" for high dive. Thanks!

Well ive read all the threads and watched all the videos and seriously cant wait for pc demo to hit. Been playing fifa 2010 with my bros with weak teams and have alot of fun as we play properly but still i can only just tolerate its many gameplay flaws :-(

I booted pes 2010 up last night, mechanical, rigid etc etc but still it's imho a better game of football than fifa 2010 if you're willing to go under that old, rusty surface and dig in.

Now, pes 2011 on pc, on a good pc with kitserver and a lod mod so you can have graphics at replay quality from a wide cam...rigged up to a large tv....drool :-)

GK animations do actually look like the black sheep of this game. I'm not trying to pick holes wither because it's been said before.

YouTube - PES 2011 Demo PS3 Highlights 2-0

0.15 - Diving to save the ball with the hand furthest away from it
I see no problem with this. It makes sense to use that arm/hand as you can get more of a reach than using the arm behind his body. Try and stand up and then lean to your right then put both your arms up high into the air and see which one reaches the highest.

0.25 - It's not that silly but with a shot along the floor like that a better and more realistic option would be to try to save the shot with your leg because you can get down quicker (see Benaglio's attempt to save Darren Bent's recent England goal).
Doesn't bother me too much. I'd prefer to see keepers trying to save low shots with their hands than fall on their arse and push a leg out. Especially when goals start to go in over and over and you sit there thinking "if the keeper had only dropped with an arm out that would have been saved... instead he did the same old sitting on his bum with legs spread animation that was in 2010 and prior and looked terrible' - If the shot had been more of a one on one situation and both men were standing almost face to face I'd be annoyed if the keeper dived with his hands rather than dropped to his bum with his legs out - but here it seemed like the right save to attempt.

0.50 - It might seem a bit pedantic in this case because it isn;t that bad but i'm trying to get all my points across in one video. Don't really get why he goes at a lower than mid height shot with a 2 handed diving save.
It just looked like he dives and then lands on his stomach/arms. I thought that animation there looked great. Like the keeper dived to catch or parry the ball to the side but the ball was already a goal already so he just landed on his front.

1.08 - Same as before really, why would a one handed attempt (maybe falling backwards a bit rather than diving down) not suffice there
Yeah that one did look off. Even more so as the keeper dives and then just doesn't seem to care what happened to the ball... he doesn't quickly get up in case it hits the post or look behind him at all... he's happy on his side just looking straight ahead.

It will be annoying if the keepers try to catch everything in the game. But then..
1.25 - Exactly the right kind of save. That's more so what i meant should happen with the two above.

I've not looked at the game and tried to work out how often keepers try to save with a catch or try one handed or parry attempts. Hopefully it's not mostly catches.

I honestly feel the keepers are very good indeed, and I realy do fail to see any issue people are having here. Maybe it's because I'm coming from PES 10, and they certainly were not the best when it comes to parrying the ball. The keepers feel very solid when they come off the line, and usually, if required, parry out of the danger zone. I totally agree about the 'other arm' used to get extra length, thats how it is. I have only seen 1 goal that I have questioned in well over 100 matches, and thats pretty good going overall. For the most part, they save pretty much everything I throw at them. Most of my games finish 0-0 or by the odd goal.

Also, I read that some people were questioning whether the referee's played the advantage rule, well they do, and here is an example I have found.....

YouTube - PES2011 PS3 Demo - The ref plays advantage

Edit - On another note, for those who seem to be having problems getting their players to make runs ( I just dont see this either by the way :CONFUSE: ) make sure that you go into Management Edit before the the game, and delete all the preset tactics that are in place. Some of those are set to 'Defensive' by default, which means unless you delete them, your players wont push forward at certain times of the match. Also, if you tinker with the strategies, just make sure you dont try and pick two tactical options that will conflict. For example, you cannot have high Compactness and high Player Range, they contradict each other.

Not nearly often enough though. I've lost quite a few counter attack opportunities due to the ref blowing for a cheap foul. Needs some tweaking, surely that's not too big a deal for Konami, be it before full release or in a patch afterwards.

Best Footy game this gen, it recaptures those PS2 Pro Evo days, its just amazing. The more I play, the more I get used to it and I just absolutely adore it. This year I will be only buying PES 2011, I just hope the graphics are not that jaggy in the final game, otherwise no other real complaints, its amazing! :)

15th., I suppose, if not you can play FIFA demo, which will be avalaible 16th., however 15th I ll have my copy of NHL 11 so who cares about old gen PES

I don't get it, weren't both FIFA 11 and PES 2011 demos supposed to come out on PS3 on the 14th (for non Playstation-plus subscribers I mean)?

Could anybody shed some light on this?

The European stores get updated on Wednesdays (15th), the US store updates on Tuesdays (14th).

Played with Barca last night for the first time, I have played around 30 - 40 games and with Barca it felt like I was playing a different game altogether.
You can play exactly like the real team. I had Iniesta, Pedro & Villa constantly swapping postions. The whole team, apart from the CBs and Biscuits, push forward and give you plenty of attacking options. I ended the games with around 70% possession.
The individuality in this game is immense, to have a team play that much differently than the other 3 in the game and to capture how they play in real life just shows the potential there is if things are setup right. Online this game will be awesome with all the different playing styles.

Individuality is everything. I'm absolutely loving D'Alessandro for Internacional, what an amazing little player he is. His touch is just stunning, his right foot is a bit hit and miss, but his left foot is like a wand. Magical. He is my playmaker supreme, and the only real player in the Internacional team capable of that killer pass. I play everything through him, and the way he plays reminds me so much of Riquelme. His dribbling skills are off the map, although he isnt fast, he doesnt need to be, as he is just sooooo technical in everything he does.

My next video will be a tribute to D'Alessandro, it's currently a work in progress, but oh my, it's looking good so far. :)

Also, I must say that the feints are tricks are pretty much pointless unless your attempting them with a player with good to high dribbling skills. I feel alot better about this now. I've spent hours and hours attempting tricks with the whole of my team, and you just end up giving away possession cheaply. D'Alessandro is now the only real player I use when attempting feints, his technique is so much tighter with the feints, he is the only player that consistently retains possession in this area.

Personally, i feel they've gone for a quick fix as they probably haven't had time to fix them completely.

The keepers still behave the same way, only parries have more distance on them, or they are scripted to land at a defenders feet rather than an attackers. I can live with that this year, considering the improvements they have made.

The animations of the keepers still gripe me though. Keepers hardly ever land on their fronts like a seal. Fix this, and i'll be a very happy man.

Can't wait to try the demo on the PC. The nets actually look ok on the PC. :P

The nets look quite nice on the PC, if you play on top settings. They're the same as the console version, but the detail is greater, so it means they look like they do in close up replays.

It's much better imo.

Are you serious? I thought people hated the nets mainly because of how they reacted, but the look? Really?
