PES 2011 Discussion thread

Ok I need help.

How do I beat a man?

I appreciate the use of R2 to use in tight situations ot turn etc. Is there also an L1 slow dribble there used to be? (I'm ex fifa8,9 and 10 so remembering 3 years ago LOL)

I dont understand this trick stick. All I want to do to begin with is run with say Ribery, face a full back, 2 stepovers, a burst of pace and cross it in.

Help needed please.

With Robben i play him on the right and i slowly (holding r2)head slightly diagonally toward the touchline, but everytime i change direction i hit the spring button briefly. This changes the pace of the movement and unbalances the defender. It's hard to find that burst of acceleration to create enough space to get a shot or cross away all of the time, but it's very realistic, and feels great when you pull it off.

So basically i'm wanting to cut back inside and everything i do until that point is designed to keep the defender moving until i can get in a position to shoot or pass.

It's a vastly improved game, and one I am enjoying, but there are 5 main issues that stop it from being outstanding imo:

1] Lack of Full manual:
Yes, I'm gonna bring up Fifa here (specifically Fifa World Cup 2010) but once you go full manual anything less just isn't quite up to scratch. The manual pass trigger is nice and it has its uses but for the most part why use it?

2] Shooting/Scoring:
This may sound pedantic but some of the satisfaction of scoring is lost with the horrible nets and floaty shots.

3] Passing momentum:
Passes that a player should really not latch onto suddenly become good passes because the ball abruptly slows down to a near standstill

4] Referee
Blowing up for fouls that weren't. No advantage.

5] Dozey AI:
You know what I'm talking about here. Players seemingly falling asleep when the ball comes close to them. At times it's like the opposition is letting you get the ball
2:06 in this video for a sleepy left back (not the best example but one ready at hand nevertheless) YouTube - Copa 'Joga Bonito' Libertadores

Anyone agree? or am I being too picky?

As stated, i'm still enjoying it. I hope however that the above things can be(or have been) improved upon.

Sort of agree with the full manual, but i'm happy using the manual modifier.

Agree with the nets, and for it's the keeper animations that ruin goals. There's a lack of immersion when a goal is scored but that could be down to having no commentary aswell.

One touch i'd love to see return would be the zooming in that the camera did when a goal was scored in PES6. The angle would change slightly and the camera would pan in slightly. It was class imo.

And i final note...

Fucking Blackburn eh! Gutted today.

Well done Lami :)

It's Tom mate. I was taking a sweet PS3 break.

I hope everyone learns from that. Civilized convo's people. We are all humans here. No trolls allowed. For God's sake if anyone doesn't like the game one bit then why post in here and stir up crap and ruin the discussion? Please do us a favor and spare us all the jibberish and time wasting cleaning up your mess.

Thank you.

My mistake, well done Tom. :WORSHIP:

The thing is, everything else is so good on a goal like that, but you're left wondering what the keeper was at. They're just not in keeping with the excellent movement of the outfield players.

That situation calls for a moving backward one handed save. Too often they go into that lame arms not fully extended sort of stiff jump.

All that needs fixed are the keepers animations. I just want to see realistic attempts that fit the situation.

This game just keeps getting better and better. WOW!!!

I've managed to score some beautiful lifelike goals it's insane.

If this is a taste of what's to come, we are sure in for a treat.

Bring on October 8th!!!

Remember very few people post video clips of the saves. I had a situation where Abondanzierri saved 3 point blank shots on goal starting with a long range parry then 2 close range shots.

I'll see if I can post a few later. In the same breath I swore ugly words at Rensing yesterday.

I was holding FCB to a 1-0 deficit with the last kick to be made from a Villa FK about 20m on the left of the semi circle.

The twat stood behind his wall a bit too far and Villa obliged with a straight drive that he couldn't get to as much as he sprawled his dumbass across the goalmouth.

You just don't know what to expect in PES2011it's soo random. A good thing btw.

On the subject of refs, i had a foul given against me yesterday which was quite silly. I had a player cross the ball and my player dived to head the ball the keeper parried it back into play but as the diving player hit the floor he just touched the defender and the ref gave a free kick. I thought maybe it was handball but it wasn't. Also can we keep this on topic as i want to discuss Pes11, it's alright to mention fifa but jonney keeps the " pes nets better than fifa & players run better than fifa " i will ring his neck!

@vondave

I never run fast at Daniel Alves with Ribery because he tends to nick the ball away from, I always slow down as I approach him. Once I've beaten him with a step over, if he is off balance I tap R1 (once or twice, can't remember) and that usually gives me enough space to cross it or continue running with the ball.

I've also teased him with a fake step over and if he takes the bait it allows me enough room to get by him with R2, pass the ball in field or back heel it to my supporting LB (Pranjic).

There is also the R1 and R2 combo that you can execute at the right time.

Also dont forget the Fake Cross, its worth its weight in gold for gaining that half a yard required to whip the ball in from the flanks, even more so with the tracking defensive system. Try pressing Circle then X to cancel the cross. You will see the very subtle drop of the shoulder, this is enough to make the defender check his run, then give you the space to deliver your cross. :)

Just been busy with the new team-strategy-screen.
Especially the Edit Manager screen is very interesting.

There is one thing missing sofar and that is the player-tactics.
You know, those where you use the attacking and defending arrows.
I can see player cards, but you cannot do anything with them.

Please can somebody with Twitter ask Jon Murphy if player tactics are in? Those with using arrows...
Thanks in advance :)

I cannot find them.

There's gonna be hundreds of Barca-whores in online mode...
But hey, we've got a proper defending system, so hopefully it's not gonna be fatal.

At first I thought we had to assign the feints to do them, but then discovered that I don't have to. Thank god. Also linking feints is a very good idea if used properly, and not abused.

Don't matter what game you play. People will ALWAYS pick the top teams online. This COULD be the first game in which you won't have to worry about your opponent, as long as you know how to play you will be fine whoever the other guy chooses :)
