PES 2011 Discussion thread

but in real life if scholes picks it up there would be differing runs being made, rooney may stand till or drop deep, the wingers knowing scholes' ability would be off, or maybe come short and rafael would be over lappping

look at the lb in this video, there's no excuse for his movement here.

YouTube - Video018

I know what you mean and I always feel the need to have my lbs running and then pass the ball into space to them.

In this particular circunstance, I'm pretty sure that in any team in the world, the lb would make the run to give us the chance for a great counter attack.

What I most enjoy on a football video game, wich is very realistic and challenging for me, is having a good ball possession, with good passing, against a team that put almost all players in their own half. And the support from lbs are very important for this.

Maybe we can 'fix' it by adjusting tatics, I don't know... I also really need to know how to do it in Pes. It is vital to make my play style works on this game.

Sorry for my english.

Some goals look unrealistic, some have some terrible AI GKing and some look pretty damn good.

I still don't see this being miles ahead of FIFA though, it can't have come that far from the atrocity of PES2010. Although obviously at the moment it is just the people (not fanboys) that have the game because they want it so bad they'll even pay for PS+ to play it.

I'll pass my own judgement on the 15th but I think some of the feedback is a bit over the top, we'll see.

It really isn't over the top, PES2011 is miles better than PES2010, I dont think I can go back to PES2010 again.

just been thinkg about the jc/johnson example, if anything the personality in pro should be complementing my tactics, for example if i have jc at rb and am telling him to bomb on, because he is slower and less effective at it, me passing the ball around midfield and being patient, should encourage him to pick his moment if i have worked the ball correctly or there is cover etc. this is opposed to gj who would be trying to break forward more regularly, forcing the issue.

i cant really think of a sb who doesnt get forward in the modern game at some point no matter how slow they are.

my original point from yesterday was just i belive some of the runs off the ball are not realistic, alot of football is based on situation, if i as a cb find myself the furthest man upfield for some reason and my cm has the ball, im gonna make a forawrd run regardless of my ability or personality, i might end up offside or not being able to control the pass, but the idea would be there.

I'm beginning to see the same animations over and over which is troubling. Same keeper animations, same running animations, same tackle animations, same falling over animations, same CROSSING animations, and same passing animations. I want to see MORE variey in animations. 1000 Animations surely are not evident in this demo. I hope the final version has them all.

Also, I wish Konami would give players such as Messi and Robben, their own unique running animations. Robben's running animation is far from his real life one. In real life he tends to keep his left arm/hands at chest level when facing opponents and sizing them up for dribbles. I still can't swallow Messi's running animation either. It just doesn't look natural ingame. That's not how he runs in real life. Oh well.

for me the keepers have been pretty hit and miss, the further out the shot the better they seem, unless its ibra taking a free kick,in which case they will watch it float into the corner. anything close and they have been pretty shit. also the cpu doesnt ever stop me putting in a cross, and while the ref is good, but there is no advantage rule

i got the demo for free, i would say its what i would have expected pro to be when it came on the ps3, and i suppose it depends if that enough for people after this length of time. there are things that fifa does better, but these two days i can say have been more enjoyable then playing fifa since 08, the old skool feeling of enjoying a goal has returned and im looking forward to ml.

sounds like the honeymoon period is over:JAY:

Last year I bought FIFA10 and PES2010, this time around I know where my money is going, and it wont be to EA. Really hope Konami get rewarded for this game, its bloody marvellous.

I agree, though I think we're at least one year away from Konami being rewarded/EA being punished. It's like a sequel to a blockbuster movie - e.g. Pirate of the Caribbean comes to mind - where the second is more successful than the first though it's not actually as good a movie; there tends to be a delay effect with these things.

Take me for example. I'll be buying both games this year, but it'll be my first time buying PES since 2008. IMO, the big question will be what happens in 2012 - that'd be the first year Konami will be rewarded for gaining back credibility with 2011 and/or EA suffers because they sat on their asses with 11.

A lot of people are saying "the king is back" but I have a feeling that it'll be with PES 2012 that the king will REALLY be back, i.e. the better game.

Anybody see where I placed my time machine? I'm dying here not having played the demo!

They motion captured tons from Messi didn't they?

How can he possibly not run like he does in real life? lol, also FIFA (aka the greatest game with the greatest animations of all time, according to the majority) also reuses them like crazy.

OF COURSE animations are going to be reused, they do in every single game... it'd be near enough impossible to have a different animation everytime.

Really impressed with the demo, what srikes you first is the freedom of the ball and the reality that konami have captured in a very realistic way,the way a pro moves and turns with the ball, its not as loose as fifa or as exaggerated but every player turns and moves differently based on there height, weight and how these factors effect there centre of gravity, its not like fifa where every player has the same turn speed and movement ratio.I also think konami have nailed dribbling as you really notice the difference between a star player with high dribbling stats and a lumbering defender.

The passing system is sublime being both logical and intuitive as well as extremely pressure sensitive, and when you realise that you have to hit the pass button very gently to pass to your closest player(not overpower which generally sends it to the player further away),everything clicks into place and it feels like a cross between fifas manual/semi assisted passing system. Its not as assisted as fifas semi-assisted system and not as manual as the manual system being more a hybrid of the two.

The long pass and long ball system is a joy and i was happily spraying gentle 5 yards chips and deft 20-40 yard long passes in front of players into space for them to run onto as well as using it as a effective means to hit the ball over the top of opposition players that were filling the short passing channels.

Defending had me worried based on the MLO beta feedback but ive found im able to read the danger early and set up my defence to remedy any offensive play as well as use the r2 button to jockey ala fifa and r2 and dash to jockey run.You can still defend like pes2010 except theres not a bonified tackle button you just hold x,although im also finding the x and back to goal method effective.Ive also noticed because player control is tighter im able to win the ball back cleanly with just my left thumbstick and going toe to toe with the ball carrier,i dont always have to press or use x.

Balls bouncing off players isnt currently as good as eas system but the physicality system in pes2011 is much more realistic, its not like fifa where you only have to get near a player to win the ball back.

So in conclusion so far so good,i havent played around enough with the stratergy system to try and get bayern to push up and make runs down the flanks and be more offensive,as by default they tend to prefer to stay behind the ball, but playing barca who by default are more offensive you do get players making more offensive movements and better runs down the flanks.

Theres a little slowdown on replays and ive also noticed a little sticking from players running onto through balls but nothing that overall spoils the demo.

Its not perfect but its close and certainly a very nice mix of pes and majorAs ISS/perfect striker series on the n64 which is dream material in my book.Only time will tell if this is a classic but early impressions for me are already very good and im certainly enjoying this one as much as i used to pes and iss back in the day.

Pes2011 is still fast paced and arcady irrespective of the new passing system and theres certainly more to fifas bow then simple, attack, attack. You have the freeom to play fifa how you want and can easily counter the sprint whores and those that just blaze forward by commanding the space there trying to move into.

Ive lost count already how many times in the pes2011 demo my players just let balls run out of play because they react to late or let simple loose balls in the six yard box bounce off them into the goal or into the path of a incoming forward.Defending is still to clunky and laboured and your easily split regardless with a through ball because the opposition player will always get in front of your defender because he will just stop mid stide.

Most of the goals look over the top and a tad unrealistic,plus,pes2011 still in alot of ways has that clunkyness of pes200/2009/2010 entrenched and after a couple of days you start to notice the same core problems that have plaqued the ai since pes2008.

I might be one of the first to say it but wait until the final games been released and watch these threads fill up with people moaning about the same basic problems.

Ive also been playing digital football for 20 years and watching games for near on 30 years so understand how to play football. However much more freedom you do have of the control mechanics of pes2011 its still bogged down with sub standard AI.

Not once playing the pes2011 demo have i felt like its a living breathing fluid game nor have i had that feeling that pes on the ps2 or iss on the n64 gave me,its still devoid of live, feels very artificial and you still dont get a massive sense that your team has a real desire to win.

I believe I cannot take you seriously anymore.

I'll pass my own judgement on the 15th but I think some of the feedback is a bit over the top, we'll see.

It isnt as good as fifas gameplay bud,i really wanted it to be and even went through a couple of hours of denial in regards to the ai but the same things keep happening again and again.Imo pes2011 feels very arcade like the crossings still to automated and all the players bunch together so your always passing into a bunch of players or your completely isolated waiting for support that never seems to come, and even when you play very offensive you just have a massive gap through the middle and your forwards just keep ending up off side. Also when you try to play the patient game a good pass and move is spoiled by the ai which makes your recieving playing do what you dont want him to and your options always feel very limited all over the pitch.

I also think to much is made of PES2011 individuality, theres not much of a difference between the four teams and the said star individuals dont stand out like they should and you can still get away with the same cheap exploits that were in pes2010.Even in the 0 speed setting some players are still to quick and all the goals seem hammed up for the gallery crowd.

It looks like real football but its a far cry from the reality of the real game.Your never feel like the ball is doing all the work and there still that element of wrestling the pad and forcing the game.

I really wanted this year to be the one,its close but maybe pes2012 or pes2013 will be the one.Theyve certainly got a good passing system in place and the gameplays better but the ai still needs a huge amount of finetuning.I still think there trying to mould pes2008 into something its not going to be and that a new engine is badly needed.

I believe I cannot take you seriously anymore.

I was a little excited by the new passing system and let all the hype and positivity go to my head.

Doesnt mean other people cant enjoy the game and i suspect those that only played pes2010 last year wont know any different because it is a step up.Just not enough for me this year lami.

Of course that's your decision. You play what you enjoy :) It's just that you've went from polar to polar.

I made this point a while back! even on this thread. I've just done a experiment seeing what the problem with his (and my opinion on Robbens) animations are.

The problem is Messi has been give the dribbling animation type 4. In PES 2010 you could clearly see messi has his own dribbling animation which looked great but since the game was on rails bit weird if you ran with him in a straight line for a while. He also had dribble style 4 which is a Ashley Young, looking at the ball while dribbling style animation!. Because his special dribbling animation overlayed any dribble style you set him to have he looked and dribbled like messi.

With PES 2011 there are loads more dribbling animations relevant to which dribble style each player has! I'm sure Messi and Robben both have style 4 (check in PES 2010 to see what i mean). Even though Messi's special animations are STILL in PES 2011 (dribble slowly with L2 pressed to see it :) thank god. But you won't notice it, because we see too much of the Ashely Young like, crouched, looking at the ball style Which he's has currently in PES 2011!

Basically we just or Konami need to change his preset animations to either the normal one or something that looks better where he has his head up and his arms out more, something that complements his special ones which were mo-capped by the man himself :WORSHIP: . Noticed at Gamescom and in the Beta Crisitano's animations look spot on, just give robben the same ones and it'll be fine.

I've just tweeted Jon Muphy about Messi, someone talk to him about robben please or send him his discussion here :)

Summary!

Messi has his own animaitons but he needs another preset for them to show better!

Robben needs to be given the same preset as Crisitano. Easy fixes but have konami noticed?

ya i m legend legend there :SMUG:

Your right!

Legend for annoying everyone and abusing everything about EA! They did deserve most of it true but it was just so constant! Your funny but, your a prize troll

I tend to agree with you. Some things are getting really annoying now, such as the sheer idiocy of my attacking players when trying to 'break' the offside trap. They can see the entire defensive line yet still stay in an offside position, baffles the mind.

Shooting also feels a bit balloony in my opinion, the referees are poor, easy interceptions are missed too often even by top players and the flow of the game gets really disrupted by showing replays of everything and having to wait for the referee to whistle all the time.

Having said all that, I'm still enjoying it and I'll definitely buy it. Just played a few games against a friend and we had a great time, like in the old days. Midfield play and player individuality weigh far heavier than these minor flaws. I really, really hope Konami iron these things out before final release.

Agree with you. I still am enjoying the game and it's far apart from PES10. I gotta say though, the automatic kick-offs are an insult. Why does Konami insist on getting a jab in with automatics?

Anyone know if its possible to do the 'Bridge' move from FIFA in this game?

Player switching pisses me off aswell, i've resorted to just tapping l1 until i get the player i want to head the ball out for corners. I'm used to this, every game annoys me with player switching. Ref dosen't give reds for tackles when through on goal which needs looking into, also should play advantage more (he does just very rarely!)

As for the players in the box, with team management if it's set to all out attack at that time or you have player support high the whole team goes up!

Ibra, overpowered maybe? Not quite Adriano on PES 5/6 or Ronaldo on FIFA 09, Drogba FIFA 10 etc.. but he dosen't seem to have a weak point. Scored a hat trick when they beat me 4-0

Game dosen't necessarily favor him unfairly which is good, just his stats are very, very high.

YouTube - Zlatan Ibrahimovic Top 30

if he had any discipline he would easily be the best player in the world

he must be one of the 15 star players in pes 2011 that seabass said had the special speed star

Thanks for the support,it hurts being labelled a fifa fan boy when ive stayed loyal to konami for over 20 years and played pes2010 and blue samuri to death, although im objective enough to see how weve gone full circle and its now ea that are replicating this sport better.

Like yourself im still enjoying pes2011 its just the ref blowing up 20 times in a game everytime the opposition runs into me grates after the 30th game, plus all the other small ai niggles that take away from the huge strides konami have made this year with the passing.

Im just finding after the early eurphoria wears off it just feels like a losser pes2010 with a free passing system but with the same mechanical AI and core issues.

Silvio Luiz fala da narração do PES 2011

Hardgamer: Nesta semana fomos pegos de surpresa com a notícia de que você seria o narrador do jogo Pro Evolution Soccer 2011. É sério?
Silvio Luiz: Sim. Fui convidado no começo do ano.

SL: Não me lembro quais, mas quase todos. Ou todos, não sei.

HG: Algum bordão seu foi censurado na gravação?
SL: Se algum for censurado, será na versão final do jogo.

Silvio Luiz speaks the narration of PES 2011

Hardgamer: This week we were surprised with the news that you would be the narrator of the game Pro Evolution Soccer 2011. Really?
Silvio Luiz: Yes I was invited earlier this year.

HG: How did the invitation to narrate Pro Evolution Soccer 2011?
SL: I was told that was the result of a search. They went to 'contact' and asked my availability. The money was good, I accepted.

HG: Where are we with the recording process? How many hours per day / week do you use (or) for the job?
SL: What depended on our part [Silvio Luiz Mauro Beting and] was ready before the World Cup. The script went through many translations and versions. Japanese, English, Italian and Portuguese - I believe it is because the game will be released in several countries. A producer came from Ireland to accompany the recordings which were steered by Brazil and made in a studio in Jardim Europa. The work lasted about 20 days, we work 8 hours a day even on Saturday and Sunday.

HG: Their staffs and their way of narrating part of the history of TV and radio. What we hear on a football game from Konami?
SL: I do not remember which, but almost everyone. Or we all do not know.

HG: Some staff has been censored for your recording?
SL: If any are censored, it will be in the final game. None was cut on the recording.

HG: Can you tell me if the story will be available in all versions of the game?
SL: I do not know to tell you.

HG: Mauro Beting will even comment on your story? How is that? Do you work (have) together in the production / writing?
SL, Go. But we never recorded together. He had his days and times, and I had mine.

PH: We love knowing that you will be the first speaker to narrate Brazilian Soccer Pro Evolution. Leave a message here for our readers, they certainly do not see the time to play with his narration!

SL: It was a wonderful experience, though laborious, and I'm dying to see the thing done. Now do not miss anything: Radio-TV-Theater-Cinema and now that's it. I am very happy!
