PES 2011 Discussion thread

Seabass has got to build on this game going forward, just add to it and make it better. Not start fooking around taking bits out and adding other shite that doesn't work. There is one slide shot animation that has been in since 2008 that just doesn't work so dump it. But build on this an they are right where they should be. Jimmy has always posted about how real Pes10 was but i couldn't get by the way it played, but with this addition i can see what he means. This game is for real. I haven't even checked on the fifa thread which is what i have always done when i log in. 2 great games this year, i'm as happy as a man with two cocks in a whore house.:BOP:

I agree the Top Player AI could be harder but the comparison with FIFA doesn't work for me as winning games on Legendary is stupidly easy. You'll score loads of goals with quick one-two's and only concede from scripted crosses or free kicks. PES AI is by no means perfect but for me it's much better than FIFA 10's.

Whats your highest on legendary AI FIFA i just wondered.

Mine was 11-0, tbh i don't i even drew against anyone on legendary, won every match!

Thanks to Tobi yesterday, I mananged to sort the feint-link system and map the tricks to the right stick. In order for these to work, you need to use the L1 button with the right stick. The R2 and right stick are feints that are linked to the player that cant be changed. Hence the reason, each player has different ones available.

I'm just using L1 and right stick now, and just using L2 for manual pass.

Edit - After playing pretty much exclusively with the Copa teams, when I tried Bayern v Barca with a friend, I also found it to be too fast to what I had become acustom to.

L1 + Right Stick?... I thought it was L2 + Right Stick... I think romagnoli had said that in the past as well, but since I was in the office I read L2 + Right Stick! Sorry rom.

Gotta try that out later on then... L1 + Right Stick. Check.

By the way, rom, I'm curious: why the nickname "romagnoli"? Is it your name?

Regards, and thanks for the answers.

Movement still doesn't feel 360 at all. I can't believe Konami put 360 movement as a feature since last year. How can you get away with lying so badly?

Defending is terrible. Ping-pong passing is definitely there. Defenders fail to close down on simple balls passing them, even let the balls pass through their legs frequently. Terrible indeed.

Ridiculously scored goals as there are hundreds of them on youtube so I'm not going to explain any further.

What you describe is tweakable in the strategy-settings; just play the attack card ( they really are in! ) to attacking for that LB or do what Bendit said in his post above: Put up the support slider...

yeah the support slider is making a bit of a difference, but how do i 'play the attack card' havent played any of the new pros, so i dont know anything to do with the cards.

Did you play it yet?

Top player isn't easy, it's challenging. It's just you won't constantly get beaten 6-0 by the AI.

If you play 5-6 games against it you start to hold our own and get comfortable against them that's all. I think some people want the AI to blatantly cheat against you like on PES6, even in that game when the AI didn't cheat on top player it was rather easy. (won 7-0 once using Barca vs Manchester United on PES 6)

Do people want some unbeatable game or what? the hardest footbal game i've played is FIFA 08 on legendary. It's was hell but it did get silly at times, substantialy unbalanced and AI stats didn't seem to matter. It felt like your were playing against GOD's XI, you could not tackle them!

Top player is hard enough from what i've played. I lose some, win some, draw most  i don't feel anywhere near close to mastering this game even when i win

PES is a lot harder in master league, league and cups etc..

Thats what we want. An AI that comes out you constantly. In this day and age its not hard to make a intelligent AI which doesnt cheat but plays to their strengths. The top teams on PES on top player are useless.

PES on these forums is getting rave reviews. On other forums its failing. I will wait for the demo before i make my mind up now.

System has only 360 passing only.
The movement of players is still eight directions.

In all honesty PES 2011 is a big improvement over last year's edition, but after playing FIFA you just can't go back to PES, it just feels rigid because of the 8-directional movement.

Why do people want the L1 trigger run button from FIFA? It's not realistic at all. A button where you can just make your team run forward all the time, therefore never needed to pass backwards because you can make Tymoschuk bomb into the box like a second striker? The same could be said for L1/R2 pass and runs, really. You should be able to tell the player to run after passing, but how far he runs and how much effort he puts intothe run should be personality based.

If you want your wingers to make frequent runs then you need to set your tactics up accordingly. Don't set your team up to attack down the middle (Bayern's default does not lend to overlapping play at all). Position switching is likely to be another sticking point - you need to encourage fluidity in your team in general rather than set up any old tactics and pine for a button to come to the rescue. You need to set your players up to be more aggressive on the flanks rather than pushing up flatly as a unit. You also need to look at what players you are using - Badstuber is not an attacking fullback. Get Alaba or Pranjic on. If you're another team then look at the player's natural mentality. If your fullbacks are attack minded but aren't attacking then look at why that is - there's bound to be a reason because I've had Lahm supporting from out wide plenty of times and in the beta Marco Rossi was a fullback of mine who often appeared in the box looking to grab a goal. One of my best moves in the demo involved Alaba passing infield to Muller, who played a one-two with Ribery before releasing a first time ball into the box for Alaba to pick up and fire just wide from just inside the box. Alaba made a 30 yard run diagonally into the box for that opportunity and I didn't have to press L1 or R2.

I recall one game ending 8-1, for some reason I just can't keep a clean sheet, always a random cross or free kick going in.

I agree, could do with more challenging AI although I won't complain if the online is any good. That's just me though.

Waiting for the demo is by far the wisest thing to do, judging from the videos I find it to look absolutely terrible but playing it yourself it seems much more fluid. If you liked PES 5 and hated the ones after that like me I'm sure you'll find this one playable.

Thats the thing i aint after pes 5. The problem is we always look to the past and expect a pes to be like a classic. I would a new next gen pes thats nothing like the old. Pes again seem to be falling apart from what people have said about the demo. I guess coming on a pes site with people who love the game sayings the demo is great maybe got my hopes built up.

this is what i call fifa fanboy. U havent even played the game and commenting on 360? Pes11 has true 360 where fifa doest have any foot planting.so it feels like ice skating.plus fifa'S ai? Lol..

I'm quickly browsing through WENB, (haven't seen pes gaming and PES fan) but it's the same here.

Msot people who are playing the game like it. People watching videos are undecided, some like some are very unimpressed!

You really have to play the game man, i see your concerns about top player being very apprehensive.

If you don't like playing vs the CPU play online :)) Some people play online!

PES 5 was the best game in terms of AI and this game is at least on that games level in terms of it. PES 2010 was ok, FIFA 08 was very good on world class, apart from that all games between that have been relatively shit in terms of AI balance. Either too easy or the AI cheat badly!

The AI has always been tougher in Cup/League mode.
PES2010 wasn't eight directional btw, although it deffo didn't seem 360 so I'm sure 2011 isn't either.

The AI and individuality was upped massively for PES 2010, as was the tactical overhaul. I dont think much has changed in PES 2011 in that regard, and to be fair, it didnt really need it. The primary focus for PES 2011 was the animations and the semi-auto passing system. I think what Konami have done this year is to try and turn those Fifa converts back across to PES with massively improved visuals and more user friendly system. Once people have started to play PES again after a long hiatus, I think more than anything else, what is being noticed first and foremost is the clever AI and the individuality. This was always the hallmark of the series, but something I truly believe was forgotten in some way by many. Either way, PES 2011 will be a great game, and offer players of both EA and Konami's franchise something to think about this year.

1 - PES 2010 had 360 movement, I didn't play 2011 but I can recall how badly I struggled to keep my players move straight at 2010. Just use a decent joypad and you'll see.
2 - About the defenders, they seem indeed a little tame sometimes and let some catchable ball trough, but it isn't a game breaking feature. Just play against a human and this won't happen very often.
3 - I swear I didn't see ping pong passing in all PES 2011 videos I've seen, and I keep seeing videos since MLO beta.

Very true. I'm really keen to hear peoples reactions and views to the Teamvision 2 system that is in the offline ML. It is really clever, and those who pass it off as just some marketing buzz word are being very ignorant to some very clever programming.

Could anyone help me out - I'm wondering how I should go about getting PES 2011 (Xbox 360) :).

The last couple of years, supermarkets have been selling FIFA (among other popular games) for £25 or less on release day - has the same thing happened with PES? (I havn't even considered buying it since PES6!)

Are there any sites doing cheap pre-orders?

Any help appreciated :).

The game is looking superb imo, just from watching the videos I can tell I will like it :). The variety of goals and some of the passing moves are a breath of fresh air after having played FIFA for a few years.

I can see your point definitely, and I agree with it to a certain degree but you can't say L1 trigger run button is unrealistic, because situations like that can potentially happen in football all the time. If anything it gives you more freedom.
