PES 2011 Discussion thread

The scissor kick craze seems to be a issue, not a huge one but an noticeable and strange one!

It's almost like it's substituting for what should be a standing volley animation. I've seen the CPU attempt about 6-7 in the 30 games i've played. Nobody's scored yet though!

I still loving the game but it's feeling all 'demo' like now with things being limited here and the minor annoyances there. I think a fair chunk of animations have been left out so it could all fit in (1.6 gigs). It's certainly not perfect! what you also have to consider the game has taken football games to a totally new level! But it's still no less fantastic for me.

Also regard the sprinting (In terms of the South American teams) Sprinting is now a skill. I mean in. You really have to work to get round players! It's all about using bursts of speed with R1+R2, it's still very hard and a challenge to beat players though which is great!

Attacking AI on top-player seems very tame from watching the videos, they aren't doing much to actually win a match. Was it deliberately toned down for the demo? Defense looks stable but often too much back near the own goal, while neglecting pressing in the midfield, I guess that is one of the reasons for a weak offense.

Still the same problem PES 2010 had with making runs in the offense is still present in the demo of PES 2011, has anyone found a way to reliably change that through the tactics-menu and if so could post a step by step explanation so that others can try to replicate it?

Animation and collision look awesome, great work by Konami.

Dribbling and passing also looks awesome.

Ballphysics is sometimes strange with balls slowing down too sudden near sidelines.

Atmosphere is still weak.

Can't wait to play the demo myself on xbox 360, but surely there is still some work to do for Konami, espescially to make the AI more challenging, clever and interesting. I guess multiplayer would be a blast, though.

Yea I'm reading some complaints on the weak offense too. A.I ain't very aggressive, Konami said while in PES 11 development that the defense wasn't gonna be making wild sprints towards the ball but they're definitely too tamed.

Cry for help to Murphy?

Hopefully this 6th difficulty will make the AI better or hopefully its just the demo. If the AI is weak attack like pes 2010 this year it will annoy me alot as i play alot offline vs cpu and its something im desprate to see pes improve on.

Usually matches in exhibition mode are easier against the CPU.
In previous versions the CPU played much better in the Master League than in an exhibition match, so I am not too concerned.

after two days of playing (and enjoying) these are the main cons that have occurred regularly enough for me to notice already

1.lack of runs off the ball
2.cpu through balls slowing down to allow them to get onto the end of the pass
3.automated kick offs
4.shit keepers

points 2 and 3 are not really effecting me but 1 and 4 are starting to upset me more as i play the demo, the keepers reactions are pathetic, especially to slower paced shots for some reason. point 1 i have highlighted already.

also i didnt realise how useful the right stick first touch flick was that is in fifa until now. to be able to knock the ball far ahead in pro you need to be sprinting, but in fifa i would use it to get out of tight spots.

Yes, i almost forgot

In PES 2010 exhibition matches seems a hell of a lot more easier compared to Master League and cup games, Game got harder after 1.03 update aswell!

In the modes they seem more tactically aware and have more of a gameplan compared to friendlies! Top player is pretty good on this demo, i prefer professional since they keep the AI ball more compared to Top player where they are a lot more counter attack minded!

4.shit keepers

Disagree about the keepers, they are good for me. They have made some great saves.

They are quite slow and really could do better a t times but they don't seem broken at all.

For me it's more how they do their job that's the issue. The end result is usually fine, they make enough saves, but the animations on the keepers don't come close to the animations on the outfield players.

If they're not changed by full release, it should be right at the top of Konami's to do list for PES 2012.

I'd just like to see more natural animations from the keepers, more flexibilty in their bodies, more variety in the movement.

yes the keepers could be better but they are certainly not shit, or broken, they very much do their job :) I'm pretty satisfied with them tbh!

Its now only one of the very few things which FIFA comprehensively beats PES at (other is the rabona animation, that about it. PES looks a level above atm) since the goalkeepers animations on the world cup game are really outstanding (just the animations, they are still to predictable for me in AI terms). Shame the rest of the game isn't very good.

I have to say this since i believe have no choice but to use FIFA's keeper animations as a target :)

Had a number of negative experiences today - some were player switch based (more than once switching away from my player when defending a corner, Ibra scores a free header right in front of the player I was); the referee is not much better than the beta; some utterly static goalkeeping when the ball looped from a deflection to halfway inside the six yard box; Bayern seem to refuse to have more than two players up for corners even when I set Badstuber to join the attack and removed my management options...

Chiefly though Ibra seems to be unable to take a direct FK and not score.6 today. I had to head another out of the top corner.

Player switching pisses me off aswell, i've resorted to just tapping l1 until i get the player i want to head the ball out for corners. I'm used to this, every game annoys me with player switching. Ref dosen't give reds for tackles when through on goal which needs looking into, also should play advantage more (he does just very rarely!)

As for the players in the box, with team management if it's set to all out attack at that time or you have player support high the whole team goes up!

Ibra, overpowered maybe? Not quite Adriano on PES 5/6 or Ronaldo on FIFA 09, Drogba FIFA 10 etc.. but he dosen't seem to have a weak point. Scored a hat trick when they beat me 4-0

Game dosen't necessarily favor him unfairly which is good, just his stats are very, very high.

Apparently I won't be having any problem adapting to this baby. In fact I suffered in previous PES editions because I wanted to play as in real life, and PES was built in a way that (again, in a way) encouraged you not to.
Still I find it kinda strange that people in the videos don't make the decisions real players make. This, I think, may be the main reason why people are talking about a huge adaptation.

About this third video... WAIT! How this light touch (before you make the long ball ) can be possible on a video game ?:CONFUSE:

Just..:WORSHIP:

I ALWAYS dreamed about seing this someday on a football video game.

I often see players in real life doing this and I think it would be very hard to replicate this on a game.

What button you press to make this light touch ? A 'detail' like this is amazing to me.:WORSHIP:

I don't think this is the proper thread to post Fifa videos, but... JESUS, look at the tackle from Messi at the beginning.. fuck! So funny and sad at the same time.

I didn't even watch the video after seing this, but that was enough to post anything about it. It just looks soooo wrong, OMG!!!

I've been playing pes probably since Winning Eleven 3, but I never gave much attention to these buttons combinations in the series:SHOCK: lol

This year it will be different tho.
