PES 2011 Discussion thread

Right, I've been playing intensely for the past few hours and I have to say some small things are getting quite annoying. My attackers really seem to struggle with the offside rule. It's too easy to dominate possesion even on top player, I'd like to see the AI apply a bit more pressure. Also the player switching just cost me a silly goal, even on semi-automatic. It kept flicking between two players with both ending up doing nothing but spectate as the AI striker scored a simple goal.

All minor flaws which don't detract too much from the overall experience, I still can't stop playing and every goal you score feels very satisfying.

I do think the AI on PES could press more. I know people love the idea of having time on the ball but players rarely have time on the ball in 'real' football.

Hum, what teams are you playing with? I think the problem here is Barça. Like someone stated, the gap in stats between Barça and Bayern is quite big.

Yeah the offside annoyed me quite a bit in the beta, some pointless calls because the ball didn't even get near the offside player.

As for playing switching, I've found out that you can actually point with the stick for who you want to change the cursor to. Doesn't work all the time but it's definitely more effective than not pointing lol.

Yeah, what we have know is that the AI drop very deep which makes scoring goals more challenging but also decreases it's attacking potency. I honestly don't mind getting 0-0, 0-1, 1-1 all the time but having 60% possession every game just isn't right.

Edit:

@anderson
Doesn't matter too much which teams I'm using although I do prefer the Latin American teams. Barça too seem to just sit back and hit me on the break although I must say they're very effective at it, lol

Hope we can set it in the team setups to make teams play different - Many Serie A mid table and lower teams dont press that much and Latin American and some Spanish teams hardly ever press or sit deep (more of a your go, my go attractive display)

just checked the number of created teams needed for a new pro evo file, there will be 4 champions league teams to add and 18 europa teams to add

im thinking now i wont add full bundesliga to my new file and add all the europa league teams instead, really want to add championship teams with also couple of scottish ,irish and n irish thrown in to division 2.

Do you still pay the pre order price. I always thought they took the payment when they shipped it and therefore you paid whatever it goes up to?

It says 17.99 on my accounts page.
Last year there was a similar price change and I got it for 17.99 pre-order, so I'm hoping it's the same.

Fuck it barca are hard to beat. I had to pull a Mourinho sit deep and tackle like a lunatic, cost me 5 yellows but they were unsettled and eventually took ibra off. Lol
I only managed a 0-0 draw though but I will beat them tonight. I can't believe how much I hate the team I support all of my life.

Maybe you should consider pulling a Figo there

I particulary didn't like the idea of having the option of chosing some dribling skills and let the CPU to do them automatically. Does this really exist ? It sounds so weird to me.

I think dribling has to be intuitive, requiring practice to execute properly and good timing from the player, but it still must be atributes based (do the right move with the right player).

The action on the pitch is so... boring, maybe EA need to adjust the standard cam to make the game feel more alive I guess?

Oh and if PES looking like Fifa means the players have to look like they're running on air, well no thanks really lol.

FIFA is very reliant on your opponent, I still feel 1v1 manual online against people I know is the best footy experience to date. Anything apart from that and clubs are repetitive and boring in my opinion, at least in FIFA 10.

Men the new passing system and tackling system is tough. Once the game is out its people are going to moan a lot about tackling and passing. Its either going to be a very high scoring game online or people are going to be complaining about how many fouls their opponents are committing in one match...

The long trailer makes it hard to get into the demo right away...I'm frustrated already...

Do players ever take the ball cleanly in Fifa?

In the video every time somebody goes for a standing tackle they take out the man as well as the ball which causing the player who just got dispossessed to stumble or fall over.

Nice collision system but why can't players intercept the ball properly?

It's making me laugh now i'm paying attention it it. I'm waiting for it not to happen....but it doesn't. The only time the player doesn't stumble or fall over is when the other player doesn't win the ball despite barging into them just as much if not more.

i think some people are struggling with this because from playing the beta i dont feel its like any pes before it. its just its own game which happens to be called pes and has pes 2010 graphics. You cant play it like you always play pes and you cant play it like your playing fifa you have to learn to play it like you do for any other new game or even like learning to play a new instument. Honestly theres a new game in the market this year and its called prs 2011 not pes:TTTH:
