PES 2011 Discussion thread

As I've already said; I'll judge the game properly when I get to play it.

Until then (without a PS3 or indeed PSN+) the only way to judge it is via these videos. I'd ideally like to see a full length demo match to point out the positives and negatives.

I don't like the attitude of some people though that immediately write off any criticism because they quite frankly, don't want to believe it themselves.

Demo is final code, there may be still some polish put upon PES 2011 for retail-code but not in gameplay-department, gameplay-wise this is what we will see in the retail-version.

That video above shows clearly that the AI was totally disinterested in the game suggestin it was set on a low difficulty-level, maybe regular or less.

I can't imagine that that was Top-player.

Sounds fair. I say we should wait for proper 10 minutes gameplay vids in Top-player (and played with analogue stick) to judge every single bit of it.

Maybe it's because people see the same bugs since PES 2008.

Looks like FIFAs autopingpongpassing plus defenders who dont try to intercept a pass and goalkeeper who doesnt attempt to make a save and runs away. Jesus. The same old story as in PES 2008/2009/2010...

Listen, I'm playing he game now. It's VERY hard. The guy playing in the vid is on regular from what i've seen. I ain't seen keepers making mistakes, i ain't been able to run at players because the Defences are really solid and organized!

The passing on this game is a delight. Far harder than even manual on fifa! Why, there so much depth to it.

The 'auto' passes require you just to press the x button but unless you facing the player you want to pass to it goes astray.

Normal passing is a more sensitive semi

Also the full manual passes on the game feel lovely :)

Thank you for that fair write up. This what we need, opinions from people that have played the demo. Not pseudo-opinions from people that watched 30 seconds of footage. That should be on the impressions thread btw.

No problem. You will always have twats who haven't played the game but will immediately jump on anything negative they seen in small video clips ignoring all the positives at the same time. One word for them. Retards.

Obviously there are bugs and these need to be addressed but they aren't bad enough to make the game worthless. In my humble opinion all the positives features clearly outweigh the negatives. Before in past games such as PES 2008 and 2009 it was the other way round.

Can anyone provide a GAMEPLAY video with -2 speed and all types of passing, few shooting, tackling and GK saves?

Has anyone got balls? lol
We PC gamers are waiting for the Perfect video.

PES 2011 INITIAL DEMO IMPRESSIONS

I have just finished playing 3 games of the PES 2011 demo. All of my matches were against the CPU on Professional difficulty.

The first match I was Barcelona against Bayern Munich and I lost 4-3. The second match I was SC Internacional against Chivas and I lost 1-0 and finally the third match I was Bayern Munich and I won 2-1 against Barcelona.

I have played the MLO Beta extensively and this demo is a clear step up from the MLO Beta code. I was impressed to see that many of the bugs we had addressed have gone but not all of them. Player runs are more intelligent when off the ball. Player response feels sharper and the shooting is much better but I think thats due to me playing with better teams now. However L1 change player is still a bit annoying.

I really love the shooting. It just feels great. I managed to score a beauty with Sergio Busquets from outside of the box with the outside of his foot and it curled and dipped into the bottom corner.

Player individuality is more pronounced in the demo. Messi is extremely dangerous and has fantastic close control but he isnt unstoppable. A well timed tackle will dispossess him. Robben as you would expect is a great dribbler.

Stamina can be seen without having to go into the options. It did seem to have an adverse effect in my Copa Libertadores match. My tired players were pushed off the ball easily and shots and passes were misplaced and hit.

Referees are much more strict than in the beta or PES 2010. Had many yellow cards in my first match due to late challenges.

Computer AI is quite impressive. They play really well by building up play and counter attacking at the right times.

Goalkeepers are definitely better than the MLO beta but they still make some silly mistakes. Victor Valdes rushed out off his line and let in a soft goal into his near post.

I havent had time to try out the new defensive system too much or the tricks so I will look into it a bit later.

The graphics seem better than in the MLO code and the replay function is fantastic. My complaint about the camera not keeping up with the action is now gone. The camera moves quicker than in the beta. All my matches were in wide cam.

The audio is improved also. There is no commentary in the demo obviously but the crowd are far more vocal. You can hear new chants and they boo really loudly when certain challenges are made or when the away team score.

Whats really annoying is that once the match is finished and you want to go back to the menu, the Gamescom trailer is played each and every time. Its so long and you cant skip it! I have to quit the game and start it again. Also team rosters arent up to date but its just a demo and they will be fixed for retail release.

Overall im very impressed. Its a clear step up from the MLO Beta and I keep getting that one more game feeling. For me its already the best PES this gen and a definite buy for any football fan. :)

Nice writeup.

how the hell did you score 5 goals in 3 games :CONFUSE:

I'm fighting just to get a shot on target!

Bugs? I had hoped that final code would be pretty bugfree, what bugs have you encountered? And would you say PES 2011 is as realistic or even more realistic than Fifa 10/WC or is it worse?

the same old lies, "THE FINAL GAME WILL BE DIFFERENT...BLA BLA BLA"

but OMG, this is the final build !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's on a low difficulty you idiot :BYE:

the normal speed is slow enough :CONFUSE:

Thanks for a normal answer:WORSHIP: Will try the demo next week, but judging from the videos from the beta or demo, I just dont believe that the GKs, physical play and interceptions will be good enough. We well see :)

PES 2011 can never be bug free. There's too much new in it for that to happen. Hopefully there's nothing gamebreaking in it.

Everyone judging this game based on a few ten seconds videos, just don't, it's your loss. You need to experience this game before judging it, it really is a huge difference compared to recent years. I swapped PES for FIFA in 2007 but this year things are looking very different. I haven't been this excited about a new football game since the early days of PES 6.

I agree, it seems like some of these people that have the demo are criticizing it a bit too quick...its always been the same thing when you get your hands on a new PES installment, you need a couple of DAYS (not a couple of games!)to begin getting used to the passing and begin getting comfortable with the game and THEN you begin to see how beautiful/in depth PES is (You begin seeing things that you didn't before and begin to do things that you weren't capable of)...I have made the same mistake with PES in the past but I learned not to right it off that quickly. On the flip-side, FIFA seems like as soon as you pick up the controller its awesome and exciting but then after a couple of days it begins to be the same old song and dance and you feel like your playing the same old soul-less game and then you are left disappointed.
Just my opinion in how to deal with peoples excessive criticism of the demo, don't get me wrong I expect to see some criticism because in no way will this or FIFA 11 be that definitive game that everyone is hoping for but I believe from what I heard from some credible people on this forum that PES is finally back to what we know its capable of being and will be an enjoyable game this year.

The bloody slow downs on the replays are pissing me off, anyone else getting them? :( it keeps speeding up and slowing down, and watching replays is so slow & sluggish, think its either my ps3 or my tv :(

I dont understand why I see replays on youtube and its so smooth and mine is being a pain in the arse 8(

I'm just charging my camera battery up and then I'll make a video to show how sluggish it is :/

Looks like defending is going to be tough this time, ball placement is great. Hope Super cancel works well for good amount of interception.

From what i read, people that have the demo aren't criticizing it. People that don't have the demo are ;]

true thanks for the correction, I thought it was the people playing, but now that read over the posts its more people watching the video which brings me to my other point, PES is not a game that wows you by watching it, like FIFA, but by having the controller in your hands and playing it gives you true sense of the game and satisfaction.
