PES 2011 Discussion thread

I know this is the console area of the forum, but the PC thread for this game is dead, and well they are essentially the same game.

So I have a question for the savy ones

Will a quad core, with six gigs of Ram but a NVIDIA GeForce 8600GS 512MB DDR2.

Will that be enough to play this game?
yes, very probably, like the guy above said^.

Only just seen the video, but just to echo what Jimmy (I think) said - that wasn't a mistake.

Did anybody notice the shot at 0:34 where the foot doesn't touch the ball? That's the sort of thing Konami need to sort out when it comes to animations. They had the IK added in this year to improve most of this but it's still extremely annoying when you concede a goal that the striker didn't even hit, or the opposition keeper saves a shot he didn't reach.

To be fair, I don't think we can fully judge that with this video. I also get the feeling that he doesn't touch it, but nevertheless, many frames are skipped on this video.

And it's the sort of thing that was always on PES, and we didn't actually care much. It's just... Minor...

Obviously there's still a long way to go for Konami in terms of physical dynamics (and I can't wait for the day it happens), they should borrow some knowledge from EA or someone else on that.

Well that will be enough to run the game at least 20 times at once mate :WORSHIP:

I have a dual core with 4 gb of ram and i once ran two games at the same times with another 5 programs open on high!

I have the 8600 GT, got it dirt cheap 30 pounds 2 years ago! Good card but it sucks in any higher resolutions than 1028x768 which is making me think of getting a card which runs well with a 16:9 ratio.

have any suggestions for a card better than the 8600 gt which runs great in 16;9 ????

The Radeon 4850. Best price/performance ratio since the Ti4200, supposedly. Now they can be had for under $100 USD.

i only play 1 or 2 games on my computer. All i really play is PES/ FIFA and some F1 games. Thats it really, i don't want to be spending more than say 30-45 pound on an upgrade. 100 USD is about 70 in uk money and that's a bit out of my range

It's blatantly not a skipped frame and I did see it in various vids and in the beta.

It's going to be a long time before Konami can afford the resource to code the game to not use these little shortcuts - it's pretty much what PES is built on. EA have spent the past few years getting to where they are with animations and ball deflection physics and as a result can't afford anything like Konami's player or team AI, or a lighting system that isn't 100% pre-baked (you could never get a stadium editor into FIFA in it's current form as the day and night versions of one stadium are literally two different stadia on the disc). Both games are pushing the consoles to the limit in very different ways, to the point where you just won't get a real overlap for years this gen (if at all).

If you pause it on 28 seconds, you will see everything that is wrong with the keepers.

Both hands, stiff and close together in the air (like a cardboard cut out). Goalkeeper looking foward, instead of looking at the ball. It ruins the joy of scoring goals.

To add balance, i will say the game in itself looks great, and i can handle naff keepers if the gameplay is spot on.

I honestly don't think we should worry about Goalkeepers.

Nuff said it was down his throat. A number of goals in that trailer should be saves. I wont go into it though hopefully this six difficulty makes the keepers very good. I just dont want to go against comical goalkeeper got fed up of that over the years with pes. Just want some solid keepers this year.

how many teams in the world have solid world class gk's?

Thanks to all for the answer regarding my video card. I just preordered from game.net to bring it for me to America! :D

On the video, I think it looks good, certainly fifa is still the animation king. But even with those glitches, I think the PES beta has been some of the most enjoyable time I've spent on a footy game this gen.

I just cannot help but wonder how much time Konami has on this gen, should they just start focusing on (at least ideas) for the future generation, so that they are not left behind again by EA?

Visual Concepts (2K) are much better than EA in this respect. The physics on sports titles they were producing 6 years ago are superior to EA's current games.

Even PES physics are superior to what EA are doing. FIFA is just skating around in circles. FIFA has zero footplanting or inertia, something PES actually appears to be implementing.

That's skewing things to say the least. The technology in FIFA is immense; it's just implemented wrongly. There's a huge difference between the tech and how it's used.

Certainly not the Arse, eh Jonny?
my point is that because PES is stat based, maybe just maybe all these GK errors you seen are from average GK's.

the best test is to play as Chelsea and see if petr cech would make silly gk errors frequently

Not really. The NBA 2K series had highly impressive animations and physics back in the early days of the 360. Then go back further and play NFL 2K5 on last-gen, which is still superior to Madden in pretty much every way.

All I ever hesr about their game is the great tech they're using. Yet I never see anything that impressive coming from it, and certainly nothing that makes the game a good representation of football. The only thing that seems to work well is the fluidity of linking animations. The animations themselves aren't even that good.

I'm assuming it's the same tech available to EA Tiburon. Neither game has any level of inertia or footplanting. Look at close ups of what's going on in both Madden and FIFA and there's insane amounts of skating and contant turning on a dime.

I never hear much being said about the tech 2K Sports (Visual Concepts) use, but their games are so much better at representing human movement and physics.

explains why FIFA's stadiums are very restricted in terms of day/night conditions!

Got to agree with your spoiler. Was playing Fifa 10 today and there's just nothing that blows me away like 2K. It is very smooth but some of the animations especially shooting are un-realistic. I would love Pes 2012 to take some inspiration from certain aspects of 2K games.
