PES 2011 Discussion thread

After playing the MLO Beta, I can safely say that I totally agree with you. PES 2011 is just so much better than anything else we've had before.

The game is fantastic. And this is just from playing the Beta which had some glitches and bugs. I can't imagine just how awesome the final game will be.

Did we not play in the very last Division 4 Cup Final ? I recognise the name. If so, what a fantastic game of football that was. :)

Yeah, you could be right. I remember playing someone with Lille a couple of times. That final was amazing!!!

I was Napoli and since I'm Ecuadorian, I was probably the only person on the beta with Chucho Benitez and Segundo Castillo on his team, LOL. Well actually there was another guy with these same players, probably Ecuadorian was well.

Looking forward to playing you again once the game releases

PES2011 is comfortably better than PES6.

hold on just a second on that. pes6 till today, is regarded really highly. and thats more than 3-4 years on.

tell me the same thing u said next year at this time, and then we'll talk again.

not pouring cold water on pes2011, since i'm gna get it too. first PES since pes6. by first, I'm not saying i've ever bought Fifa.

Yeah I was Lille mate, and I remember Castillo very well, he was a nuisance. Great, great final, and a super advert for football. Look forward to hooking up again bud. Your style would suit PEEL, very fair. Check out my signature and click the link and have a look. ;)

I played u final lap...can't remember if you killed me or not.

nah, probably the other way around. This is the first PES on which I am forcing myself to play with the analog stick, so I was having a hard time controlling my players.

Had some great games with people from here and WENB as well. Good times!!

Yeah, I was actually surprised about how good Castillo is in the game. I mean he is a great player but he never had a chance to shine in Europe except when he played for Red Star Belgrade. Plus, he is past his prime already.

Would love to join PEEL but I'm in USA and not sure how that would work with the time difference.

If it works out, then I'm in for sure.

This game is just so amazing when you play with like minded people. None of that CR, Ibra, Messi upfront crap.

Take care my friend

I'm still adamant that PES6 is overrated. (xbox 360 version)

Jimmy i don't know about you but from playing 5-6 games today some things instantly spring to me about this game.

1a Shots have no power on them (unless it's Adriano :))
1b. Shots with power don't stay low (unless it's Adriano :))
2. That players attacking a ball with a header have a bigger advantage than a defender (especially from corners). Sometimes even though i'd positioned my defender in front of the striker they didn't react.
3. Players react much slower than Pes 5 when they receive the ball
4. You can't beat a man for pace because you can't push the ball. The only way to do it is run to the side or backwards and stop and then turn. That's something i really liked in PES5, you stop wait for the attacker to commit to a tackle and then push the ball past him and away you go.
5. Defending doesn't require timing for pressing the conservative tackle button, it's more like spamming it like Fifa.
6. You can't give away trip fouls (which were a big part of why PES 5 needed precise timing when tackling). So again like point 5 timing isn't needed.
7. When trying to get a 1-2 going/manually getting a player to run forward it requires you to press LB/LT just after playing a pass to a teammate. The player who passed won't make a forward run until just after your team-mate has received the ball.
8. Scoring just feels hard but not in a skillful way, more a random way. Shots, both close range and long range, don't really travel with pace and it's really hard to place a ball into the corner with the finesse control. Goalkeepers aren't overly good but they do react much faster to your shots and often make the goal look smaller because of these factors. Apart from one long shot i scored with Gygax where the goalkeeper tried to jump straight in the air and save it with his right hand even though the ball was closer to his left.
9. Reaction times are really daunting although i've kind of already mentioned that
10. There's no real battle between two players when battling for the ball side by side.

On the plus side the pace of the game is nice and it does promote you to pass the ball around more rather than sprint constantly (which is a nice detriment if you overuse it). I had fun playing a world cup with Switzerland.

What is PEEL...it's mentioned quite a few times in this thread, but i must have missed something (being on holiday).

Can somebody explain please?
Thanks in advance.

Christ that was torture. 20 easy passes a game going to completely the wrong player. Nice runs but wayward passing through no fault of our own, the scripted 'rails' all too evident and glaringly obvious. Lofted through balls are useless from an angle, long balls are hit and hope, the lack of the ability to build a fluid attack before it goes on rails and forces idiotic turns and passes...nightmare.

Another thing, one of the most drammattic differences (apart from the pace, the freedom of passing and defense) is ball control against teams who pressure.

When a player is rushing full steam at you and you ae in control of the ball, in the beta you can easily punish his reckless tactic by simply shimmying to either side thus taking him out of the equation. Or if you wish, a deft lofted ball to the exposed man drives the sprinters crazy. Possesion football, clever ball rotation and exposing weakneses is the name of the game. Not so in PES2010, he will more often than not take the ball, and if he doesn't, his mate using the same headless sprint behind him will, or your easy ass will go too slow and be intercepted...constrained and restrictive are the two terms to describe it best.

Jimmy and I just had an awful awful awful time trying to adjust.

With all due respect, I don't think you've learned to play the game properly. The game has 16 way directional movement, which is more than the older PES's have.

There's no denying the rigid animations that contribute to the game sometimes feeling on the rails, but it's nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be.

Use super cancel (which has an expanded range of directions) for the moments when you need freer movement, and use R2/RT intelligently to close control and do the sort of shimmying you've talked about. It has soooo many functions, I would class it as the most important button in the game.

The game also has deep tactical options which have a real and discernible effect on the pitch. I can counter pressure, play possession football, play counter attacking football, vary my approaches and defend adequately once my team is set up correctly.

I'm not quite as extreme. Loved the MLO beta by the end of it, but I can still go back to 2010, because it's still the best football game ever made, until 2011 comes out. It still has some strengths over the beta, and obviously vice versa.

Its very hardcore, you have to get over the initial hurdles and spend hours upon hours mastering its hidden depths, once you have it can be an unbelievable game, as unbelievable as that sounds!

It's safe to say it looks like I'm in the minority :P

What on earth are you talking about? I've played PES2011 and have the opinion that it's much better than PES6. I think most people that played the beta will agree with me, and I'm sure you will once the demo hits.

keep going. you can't deny at the end of the day it feels like football, ntg like any Fifa or the past 3 iterations of PES have come close to.

Sorry my bad Englsh! I'm use Google Translator! hehehehe

"Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" terá narração de Silvio Luiz
-
"Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" will have narration in Portuguese in Brazil. The narration is by Silvio Luiz while comments are made by Mauro Beting.

Interestingly, the franchise takes narration in Portuguese in the same year that the series rival "FIFA, Electronic Arts, chooses not to have the option. This is the first time that "Pro Evolution Soccer" will feature narration in Portuguese of Brazil, while its "FIFA" had the option for more than a decade.

Another of the great innovations of "Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" is the inclusion of the Copa Libertadores. This is the most important tournament of the Americas, which is worth vacancy for the Intercontinental Cup. In it, winners participating in national championships in countries like Brazil and Argentina, along with teams from Mexico, who come as guests.

Brazilian teams are confirmed Cruzeiro, Internacional, Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Flamengo, who participated in the 2010 edition.

Konami already holds the license of UEFA Champions League, the most important interclub championship of Europe. This type has appeared in editions of "2009" and "2010" of "Pro Evolution Soccer."

The title is confirmed for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP and should arrive on November 2 in the United States.
