PES 2011 Discussion thread

Hard to believe Konami wanted their demo to go h2h with FIFA. A lot kids prob won't be checking out PES 2011 demo because of it. Kids these days really need to experience the glorious football PES is capable of, so I hope I'm wrong.

(Plus, dammit, I needed that week to re-acclimate myself with PES controls after hangin on the Dark Side these last few years!)

I'm BOOOOOOOORRRRRREEEEDDD!! Wheres my MLO?!:P

And can people please stop reffering to PES6 as a "great" game, It's the version when PES started growing a tumor. Only now is therapy working!

"Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" terá narração de Silvio Luiz
-
"Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" will have narration in Portuguese in Brazil. The narration is by Silvio Luiz while comments are made by Mauro Beting.

Interestingly, the franchise takes narration in Portuguese in the same year that the series rival "FIFA, Electronic Arts, chooses not to have the option. This is the first time that "Pro Evolution Soccer" will feature narration in Portuguese of Brazil, while its "FIFA" had the option for more than a decade.

Another of the great innovations of "Pro Evolution Soccer 2011" is the inclusion of the Copa Libertadores. This is the most important tournament of the Americas, which is worth vacancy for the Intercontinental Cup. In it, winners participating in national championships in countries like Brazil and Argentina, along with teams from Mexico, who come as guests.

Brazilian teams are confirmed Cruzeiro, Internacional, Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Flamengo, who participated in the 2010 edition.

Konami already holds the license of UEFA Champions League, the most important interclub championship of Europe. This type has appeared in editions of "2009" and "2010" of "Pro Evolution Soccer."

The title is confirmed for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PlayStation 2 and PSP and should arrive on November 2 in the United States.

This was my concern that I posted a couple of pages back. I fear that the PES2011 demo could be buried under the weight and reputation of the Fifa11 demo. They should give themselves a week's head start to tempt a few casual gamers into giving it a try, especially as this year's PES takes a bit of getting used to. I hope that people don't just play the PES11 demo for 10 minutes, think it's too hard and put it down.

Personally I think WE10 was better than PES6.

I feel ya, problem is a) I want Konami to do well and I desperately want this year to begin a golden-age for PES, and we all know how important the bottom line is; and b) I'm kinda pissed at EA and want them to lose some sales, just out of spite. And I don't care if that's wrong of me. I'm sorry I am not sorry.

Bear in mind we don't know what exactly "mid september" means :P Everyone is assuming it's the 15th, but could as easily have it next week xD

 Here's hoping, otherwise, I won't get why Konami released footage of the game way before EA... That game could still all their thunder if the demos coincide.

True, everything was earlier than FIFA this year, an early demo would make sense. Plus, according to Jon Murphy, their just waiting for "someone" (either Microsoft or Sony), so if they are waiting for that to announce the date, must mean it's "immediately after" the announcement.

Or maybe not... Don't get your hopes high, I cried wolf once already.

With all due respect, I don't think you've learned to play the game properly. The game has 16 way directional movement, which is more than the older PES's have.

It's safe to say it looks like I'm in the minority :P

To be fair, you couldnt be further from the truth. Satnik/Cro, is without question easily one of the best PES 2010 players I have ever faced. His football is the purest bar none. He doesnt even know where the sprint button is and averages almost 180-200 passes per game, one of the very highest on PEEL. I have played him in over 50 games, and it's death by passing. He went unbeaten in his first season on PEEL against some very good and fair players, and was lying second in the league before the beta hit.. He knows how to play PES 2010 as much as anyone, as far as I'm concerned, and he does it with 3rd rate teams, which is even harder.

We both know how to play PES 2010, it was the only game we ever played. I agree with you, PES 2010 for me was the best to date, I have no doubt about that, and your right it is for the hardcore. Over 90 minutes the scorelines, chances on goal, completed 'Premier League' passes etc, all replicate the real game very well. Like I have said previously, I was happy to see 5 attempted through-balls to be incomplete, just to see the magical one complete. From a realism, simulation perspective, it's accurate. And I do understand what Konami where trying to achieve, it is the most hardcore PES ever in my book. We both know of its qualities.

The problem is once you have experienced the freedom of PES 2011, and grasped the concept, and shook off the PES 10 habits, you can play a game of football that you have never been able to previously. It's a different type of game, and after all these years of almost playing the same type of way, this is fresh, new, and very appealing. Trying to go back to PES 10 after 11 is very hard, you have acclimatised to a whole new ball-game, a new outlook, and then PES 2010 can seem very frustrating.

It didnt help our first game back was a 2v2 tournament. The pace was alot faster, you had two players pressuring you, and it all felt very rushed. It become frustrating when things we have learnt from 2011 were simply not working. We also played lads from PEEL who hadnt played the beta, so were still played the PES 10 way, which made it harder. Satnik/Cro is a massive PES fan, never played Fifa, it doesnt appeal to him for the same reasons it doesnt appeal to me. He has also been a huge supporter of the series on here for 7 years, and never has a bad word to say about the game. But we were both just being honest in our assessment.

I regret smashing my disc now, I would like to play a nice game of 1v1 with Satnik again, we have had some amazing games over the last year, and really enjoyed the experience. It was just a PES 2011 comedown, and the frustrations of not being able to do what we have experienced in the beta. Thats all.

I'm still adamant that PES6 is overrated. (xbox 360 version)

Jimmy i don't know about you but from playing 5-6 games today some things instantly spring to me about this game.

1a Shots have no power on them (unless it's Adriano :))
1b. Shots with power don't stay low (unless it's Adriano :))
2. That players attacking a ball with a header have a bigger advantage than a defender (especially from corners). Sometimes even though i'd positioned my defender in front of the striker they didn't react.
3. Players react much slower than Pes 5 when they receive the ball
4. You can't beat a man for pace because you can't push the ball. The only way to do it is run to the side or backwards and stop and then turn. That's something i really liked in PES5, you stop wait for the attacker to commit to a tackle and then push the ball past him and away you go.
5. Defending doesn't require timing for pressing the conservative tackle button, it's more like spamming it like Fifa.
6. You can't give away trip fouls (which were a big part of why PES 5 needed precise timing when tackling). So again like point 5 timing isn't needed.
7. When trying to get a 1-2 going/manually getting a player to run forward it requires you to press LB/LT just after playing a pass to a teammate. The player who passed won't make a forward run until just after your team-mate has received the ball.
8. Scoring just feels hard but not in a skillful way, more a random way. Shots, both close range and long range, don't really travel with pace and it's really hard to place a ball into the corner with the finesse control. Goalkeepers aren't overly good but they do react much faster to your shots and often make the goal look smaller because of these factors. Apart from one long shot i scored with Gygax where the goalkeeper tried to jump straight in the air and save it with his right hand even though the ball was closer to his left.
9. Reaction times are really daunting although i've kind of already mentioned that
10. There's no real battle between two players when battling for the ball side by side.

On the plus side the pace of the game is nice and it does promote you to pass the ball around more rather than sprint constantly (which is a nice detriment if you overuse it). I had fun playing a world cup with Switzerland.

+ 2

Really didn't like this game at all. Far worse than PES 5, far more arcadey! Didn't feel like football.

Your a very emotional guy :WORSHIP: Your remind me of that guy Jeff Sterling! Full blooded Northerner!

I agree with the sentiment that the PES demo should not come out the same day as Fifa, a week early to people that otherwise would probably only play Fifa has a chance to check it out.
Sure most of them will not like it, heck, I may not like it I haven't played a PES game in I don't know how long, but having a week to itself alone as the footie game will get more people playing it maybe more often.

Much better.

:FAIL:

let's hope pes2011 really turns out phenomenal and allows the pes6 community here alias the patches and option file to FINALLY get the rest in peace that it so badly needs. it's 4 years old! i personally feel they should rip out pes2008-2010 forums here to save space. but that's just me personally.

It could be a good thing that the demo comes out at the same time and that the result is a less succesfull (but still better) sales record then 2010.

The qualities now showing, and which faded imo with commercial succes, are down to the direction being taken. FIFA is starting to stumble imo and that looks to be because they are focussing on the casual gamers and looking at the bottomline. FIFA07/08 didn't and that was really showing signs of becoming a great sim. It got the hardcore onboard and teh critical aclaim. 09 probably had the best balance of sim and playability but 10 has gotten worse and with 11 you can already tell the sim features they have added aren't anywhere near strong enough to really make a difference and they have added even more speed to animations. Combined with the lack of team AI makes it look like it will be very much 10.5 .

PES on the otherhand realise that they can only get the hardcore now and are focusing on that. Kepping them on their toes with less succes could be far better in the long run.
