Do these formations work in this game? I remember with FIFA you could use Custom Formations for a 6-0-4 or 5-2-3, having a solid wide defence which was difficult to penetrate and an fast and furious(!) attack, since you don't really need midfielders in FIFA. The strategy was simple: collect the ball in defence, long pass to your striker, ping-pong one-two counterattack and bam, you got a goal.. I hope these kind of formations cannot be abused in PES.

That's because they look like steel cages in FIFA.
Yes, tighten the tension a bit in PES as the physics and detail are actually miles better than anything else.
Depends on each case really. The most exploitative formation is probably the standard 4-3-3 with average forward pace of 88 or so/ with Aguero, Ronaldo and Pato. Other than that I've not felt a formation stand out as definitely untouchable or impossible to counteract. As I've said I'm generally fairly defensive anyway, though when playing against some of the teams with the best players I find dominating possession to be essential.
One thing I'd recommend is that you don't set players to man mark the Ronaldos etc. It's far better to hold your ground and keep your shape; man marking tends to see your man get overlapped quite easily. If you are going to use marking then use someone further up the pitch to drop back, rather than committing someone at the back or in a key defensive position.

It's possible to change name of teams online and play it? I see Arsenal not North LondonEdit data online?

What you're saying sounds a like lot football in real life. 4-3-3 is generally exploitable in real football if you have fast and technical forwards anyway. I'm just wondering if 5-2-3, for example, would be more efficient and exploitable in PES, having a 5-man defensive line while still having the 3 up front. This is the kind of exploit I've seen with FIFA as well which would not work in real life.
I always had success playing against teams with 3 up front in 2010. I made sure I would win the midfield battle against the usually three man midfield by having four of five in there. I could dominate possession that way and basically cut the three forwards off.
Just to add, this was offline and with a stat edited version. PES2010 was really good when you invested time in it.
This is news to me. That's awesome.
Really?! So option file kit data will be used online now? Thats great. Hopefully I wont have to play as an unlicensed Liverpool in my online matches.
Won the D3 Cup earlier, beating an all-star line up featuring Ronaldo, Ibra and Xavi up top, with world class players in every other position. To be fair I'm not that far behind; I've tried to avoid the top top players though, and Montolivo is still my first choice mid with Adriano out wide on the left. I just happen to have a great defence.
He was a complete gamer - just give it to Ronaldo and dribble, boot it along the ground to the near post and shoot first time etc.. He got a couple of very lucky goals, with me grabbing a lucky one back before levelling at the death and pushing things into extra time. From the second half onwards I'd completely snubbed Ronaldo out and was giving his very narrow formation (kind of a 6-1-1-2) a bit of a schooling.
Slotted home the winner in the 105th minute and continued to block him out till the finish.
£5m kitty plus £1m a game for about 9 games - top fooking' banana.
Totally agree. I use exactly the same strategy, 3-5-2 to control the midfield, for the most part, this is where the game is usually won or lost.
I just pick this part out of your long and well written post if you don't mind
I am always a passing-player and like to have plenty man on midfield, using 3-5-2, just like you. My problem arises when the opponent plays with wingers, in which case my wing-back was often too late to stop that winger.
How do you solve that problem? I tried to play with two defensive midfielders who covered the wingback and that worked reasonable, but then you you need two defensive midfielders and that turned out to be too defensive.
Let me know![]()
Soo....
where is your MLO team saved? In your option file?! With a simple editor I can get every player I want...
Could somebody check their MLO option files for their players?
Agreed, I don't mind the nets in PES. The way they move is quite satisfying when you score. All that's needed is some different shape nets.
I doubt MLO option files are saved locally.
You can only edit your team name in the MLO, and you'll probably be able to fully edit your team style and kits, but that's about it. Many misleading stuff here.
Sounds good! Your winning vs a gamer playing good football!
Thats what i like to hear![]()
yeah you are assuming it, but you don't know. I am thinking of PES5 where you could built your Dreamteams and play with them online... as I know konami that would be typical for them...
Seabass:
"Oh! We save server performance and the teams are saved locally!"
Other developer:
"Wow great idea, Shingo! So we need fewer servers, they are on maximum capacity anyway!"
PES 2010 is so much harder, so much tighter, and in a way, more realistic.
