PES 2011 Discussion thread

just finished my first full game. won 4-0 with barca against bayern! but on professional diff.

my first match had pretty interesting goals..all different. i had one penalty. one headed goal from a goal kick. one from a fast counter when bayern were pushing in the final part of the game. and might i add, manual modifier is just unbelievable.

and i havent even messed around with the tactics yet! just took a quick look and you have really comprehensive options.

it feels great. no more the clunkiness of pes2010..i just played pes 10 earlier today, and trust me, they are miles apart. im off to play somemore!

my post in the pc section. in reply to zzcop.

I've just got back from a weeks holiday in France (with no internet access) so I've tried to skim through the last 50 pages to read you guy's reaction to the demo. Sounds great. I'm suitably moistened at the prospect of the PS3 demo later today.

So the demo will hit PSN at about 4pm?

the game is great! So I am listing the negatives only ;)

- If the opponent plays a through ball your players don't go to the ball (like in pes5)
- dribbling is easy xD also defenders don't attack on the wings o.O you can just walk into the 16m and shot
- some wierd goalkeeper actions :o I only played 3 games so far but there was always 1 goal where the keeper let the ball between his legs -.-

Hey guys just a small question. whats the difference between using the L2pass and just pass? cuz normal semi-assisted passing has direction as well. i learnt that through experience..just passing the ball out of play

Anyone have tips for the defending? I'm getting the hang of it but not sure if I'm doing it right as sometimes I get it wrong. Whats the diff between delay 1 and delay 2? as in i know what to press but whats the actual outcome? and also, whats the difference between L2 pass and just passing? seems to me like both have power and direction taken into account.

I am downloading the Winning Eleven 2011 demo to see if there are any subtle differences.

It is out in the Japanese PSN store.

Click the second icon down on the left menu and you will see it in the selection.

Cheers

edit: Japan and Spain are selectable teams in this demo. No Copa teams.

Just found out that you can control the player in his celebration after you have scored a goal in Winning Eleven 2011 demo.

I scored with Torres and I had control of him running around back and forth.

I confirmed this by going back to the PES 2011 demo and scoring a goal - it just went to a preset celebration.

Can anyone confirm this?

Cheers.

over here in Asia, we're practically forced to wait for Winning Eleven 2011 to release as if we get PES2011, we'll most probably be having laggy online games against Europeans.

in any case, Winning Eleven 2011 releases on 18th October btw. so not much more to wait.

WE DEMO - passing seems a little slower/softer/cusioned.

In the PES demo, I thought on normal speed, the passing was really zippy and fast, not much bobble. I always changed the speed to -1 so that the passing was slower, but the players would also move slower.

WE DEMO the ball bobbles much more and the passing feels much more cusioned especially the diagonal passes.

I will test out the long balls and see if they are as good as the PES demo ones.

Also, just scored with Messi and I could control him in the celebrations. Can this be done in the PES demo?

EDIT: not sure what all those vertical lines come from because its certainly not their in the actual game played in motion.

Japanese Demo plays better than the UK Demo. Controls feel tighter and players respond immediately to the R1 Sprint button. Sprint button seems to be more responsive. In the UK Demo, there is a slight delay when you press the sprint button before your player starts sprinting. In the Jap version, the response is immediate when pressing R1.

Overall, the Jap Demo's gameplay just feels more tweaked than the UK one.

its hard to score thats why. pointless view. worse bit of PES. how do you aim? up and down keys? what if im playing wide camera view with value 9 set for the angle? do aim using top-left corner of the stick and bottom right corner?

:FAIL:

umm im in a rush to post so i will be swift and quick:

  • Graphics are amazing
  • Player animations as good as fifa
  • Passing is miles better then fifa(no more ping pong!)
  • shooting is better than fifa i.e. less floaty long shots than fifa
  • player physics are spot on
  • Pace of the gameplay is spot and can be set
  • Tactics/formats are nearly as deep as football manager games and no contest between fifa
  • Passing is excellent. opps did i mention that already? its the best part of the game imho. takes time to master and like i said, no ping pong bullshit.
  • defensive AI is great! you need to really work the ball to even get an attempt on goal
minuses:

  • hate the penalty view. it sucks and hard to score penalties
  • sound effects could be better and more real in terms of the ball kitting the cross bar and whenever the player kicks the ball but the stadium chants and sound are great.
  • Replays for every freaking free kick!
Other then that. its a day 1 purchase for me on the pc due to huge mod community available for it. this is the return to form of PES. their is no ifs or buts.

Actually, you couldnt be anymore wrong in my opinion. The penalties for me were the best new addition in PES 2010, once you learn and understand the concept, you will find it's basically impossible to technically replicate them any better.

They are completely manual and statistic based. Perfect.

You dont push the stick in any corners. From the pitch view all you need is either up or down on the stick depending on which corner you want to aim for. How hard you press shoot dictates the height of the shot.

You can gamble for the corners, or play the safe option. It's total risk v reward. It mimics real life penalties perfectly. I guess to really learn them you will need the full retail version to practice them, or aquire a copy of PES 2010 if you want to nail them before PES 11 release.

YouTube - PES 2010 penalty guide

And seriously, if anyone can tell me a better way to replicate penalties than this for a real life mimicing standpoint, please tell me, I'm all ears.

How do I get the WE 2011 demo ? I'm guessing I need to create another account ? Any link on how to do this please ?

Edit- Found it.
