PES 2011 Discussion thread

John Murphy- @fabiof2x yes - 8th - but that's in Europe

Ok I'm about to have an aneurysm.. the demo isn't out in the states on the 8th as well??? noooooooooo....

Edit: Is there any way to make your account a UK account, like I can on the xbox 360? :(
Haha...I'm fucked...I thought about this today...He mentioned Playstation+ but not which countries. If I don't get my demo on the 8th Sony is going to hear from one mad african motherf&$#er. Something you want to avoid. I know our default network is eu.playstation.com so I suspect I'm in the green but I ain't getting my hopes up yet.

Also whats the deal with all the PES 2010 haters here today...get some culture kids.

I'm just gonna look over the fact that PES 10 had the most horrid animations ever seen in a footie game, barely any collision detection, and a few other niggles..

The passes felt unnaturally driven with no swerve and sometimes little control over where they went. Defending in that game consisted of 10 players huddled around the center portion of the penalty box waiting for the ball to land from a cross.

Konami responded to the abuse of fake shots by removing the animation itself all together; the shots themselves felt slow and heavy and not only were the keepers borderline mental but apart from parrying shots they also liked to stay behind the goal posts during shots in the worst of cases!

The defenders and unskilled players were handicapped by having an extra animation where they would do this weird foot drag with the ball every time they did a turn.

And the button delay what is up with that, I've had so many wasted opportunities when the player refused to hit the ball mid air.. maybe he was lacking the animation all together...

Go on, bring up one good thing about the game that ain't individuality..

Well that's the problem there isn't it. There was SO much more to PES 2010 that it's poor transitions.

Most if not all people who hate PES 2010 site the animations as the number problem. Those like me who knew the animations wouldn't be great and simply said: "Meh" Ah well, lets see how it plays", got on playing the game and looking through it, uncovering every stone and looking in every corner to see what the game was about.

BTW when i say the animations are dreadful. I mean in respect to the transitions between them and the PS2 feeling of no player inertia etc.. The motion capture animations themselves were decent. The odd few were very poor, most were solid imo. As you can see i'm not milking PES 2010 up to be a god like game but it have some very good, pleasing sim aspects to it. (AI, movement off the ball, etc..)

Why is diving impossible in PES 2010? The system they had in place was new and there were literally no situations where you could dive!

Why are the ref's so bad? It's because imo they were linked to how dreadful the animations were. The situations where there should have been fouls simply weren't implemented enough. I barley had any penalties in that game or gave many away.

I really didn't mind the extra slow turning animation for poor technique players, made you have to think and dribble and use those players wisely.

LAST YEAR with the PES 2010 demo. I could clearly see PES 2010 was a base layer of a game. You need to ask yourself why Konami would go backwards substantially in terms of animation fluidity compared to PES 2009, and 2008 even? PES 2009 was fluid, but it was still a crap arcade game.

I'm convinced PES 2011 was Started after the failure of PES 2009! Obviously it takes a long time to create a whole new game with new tech! So there was no way they could implement it into the 'famcom' engine they had inplace. PES 2010 was about the AI, individuality game balance and tactical depth. For me, a solid game. 7/10. They succeed in that respect but obviously the dreadful animations were the problem.

PES 2010 was NOT about sexy football, with nice animations Passing and moving. You could do it in game but it didn't exactly look pleasing on the eye.

Also i almost forgot the keepers were just plain shit in PES 2010, the saving graces were that you could tel the difference between a good on and average one and they were 'randomly' shit rather than exploitable shit :)

There is no way on earth PES did all that development from PES 2010 to 2011 in 7-8 months, I'd say it took at least 18 months to get the engine to the stage it is now!

Mate, how are the crossing animations? Are they the same boring ones or do they vary?

I am not sure if they change from different players but the most common was like the one Ronaldo did in one of the trailers, another one was done with little back lift, a kind of dink if you like to the near post, there was no losing balance and falling over that I remember from previous games though, there might be if the ball was about to go out but I never saw that.

Darth are the AI really good this year?

In what respect?

I was worried when I got my win away to Man United that I didn't feel under the sort of pressure I maybe should be, but at the same time I went 5 games without a win after that, what happens with this game in the past you hit a brick wall and you need to take a break and calm down, obviously I could not do that so carried on, the Copa Libertadores provided that relief, it just felt nice to play after being owned a little, on balance I was probably still the better team but it wouldn't allow me to break it down, hope that makes sense.

I just had a power nap to remove the headache, it worked!

It would have been the default speed and it felt fine, more pes5 than 6.

I didn't see Team History, if I knew I could have gave impressions before I went in I would have asked you guys for q&a, it was just at the end he told me it was fine to write up.
No worries mate. Thanks for answering :)

Ok, so what's going on here. I'm confused. The demo will be out on the 8th on PS+ in the UK region correct?

Reason I ask is because I created a UK account just for this.

Yes mate. It's out on 8th Sep in Europe for PS Plus members.

You'll have to create a new account.

@jflores if you create a new UK account does your Plus membership carry over?

If you created a uk account then subscribed to plus it was good thinking.

I'm going to create a UK account later and see what happens.

I mean are they AI clever, good, a challenge. What difficulty did you play it on?

I played on Professional and I would say they were very good on that level, I would have the most of the play and a lot of the time I was experimenting with tricks, slow dribbling but when I got serious it never gave me a goal easily, if I got past their defenders I still had the goalkeeper to beat, even when outside the box you haveto create good space for a long shot as they just block it easily.

Excellent, I actually started looking into this myself and figured this out but wasn't sure if it would work... I'm thinking I may have to use a UK credit card for the Playstation+ purchase? If so I'm lucky enough to have an english gf, so I hopefully I'm in luck :)!

I actually played the game yesterday, the full script is a couple of pages back and also Lami posted it in the news thread, might answer some of your questions. :))

I'm happy at the optimisim for this new game on here. And i'm glad the net fetishists and untucked shirt brigade haven't grabbed a foothold in here.

It's guys like that that gave PES it's failings for a couple of years!!

I take offense to that. Nets are important to me, as untucked shirts, ankle tape, and other accesories are important to others.

Your conclusion on PES failings is narrow minded and senseless. Think next time before you post.

What's more important?

Easter Island stone head, barrel, bassball cap?
Or the most elementary, important part of the pitch the goal with the net?

LOL..

They had no time for implementing nets.. WTF.. 3 years not enough..

Anyway amazing times ahead.. Shaping up to be a great football game finally.. I hope it can top ps2 pes games in the end

Adam from WENB

Just had a massive PES session with TheFury from PESFan at mine, was awesome.

Both of simply loved every minute of it. It's the first time I've had a long multiplayer session on final code, and it felt fantastic. Primarily the keepers and new defensive features since preview shone very brightly, and made each game different and enjoyable for different reasons.

So happy, really am

Also if that was not good enough, John Murphy posted this on his twitter

@LorenzoVanM A final licensing statement will be out next week

This is all sounding sooo positive, can't wait to try it out, it's been a long time since I played to any depth so I'm expecting massive things given the glowing reports...

Hand on heart Nick, after what you put up with but still enjoyed about the MM, you and your bud will be blown away by the offline ML. 100's of thousands of unique players at your disposal. Youth Team Academy, varying Scouts, Fitness Coach's, Doctors, team Coach's, its as deep as the ocean. And when you take 3-4 years to build your own sqaud, then get into the Europa League for the first time, its as satisfying as it gets. Spending you limited resources to raise the standard of your Youth Academy, then watching great young players come through to the first team is awesome. Then training them week in week out in the areas you wish them to improve, then spending a million to train them in first-touch, 1 on1 finishing, the Passer card, really brings you so close to them as you watch them improve before your eyes. They are your kids and they feel like family. :)
