PES 2010 Masterleague

I'm guessing you guys with all that money to spend are playing on a lesser difficulty? I picked Sunderland on Top player and have 10mil, but in Sep it went down to 1.5mil...

My biggest disappointment last season was my keeper Sorensen. He was happy and having an excellent run of form up until the January transfer window, when three clubs came in for him. Roma offered my £3.4 million, I rejected that. Lille then offered my £3.6 and I rejected that, then Lyon offered my £3.9 of which I rejected but then changed the terms and asked for £5.9. Lyon turned me down with that.

After I shattered Sorensen's dream move to Lyon and the lure of Champions League football, he was never the same player again. He was all of a sudden unhappy at Stoke, and his heart, which dicates his loyalty towards the club was showing as snapped in half. :CONFUSE: After that, for the rest of the season he had a permanent dreaded 'Purple' arrow for every game. He really did spit his dummy out. The prick.

He never played another game for me all season as I played my young keeper instead. During the close season, Sorensen's heart was fixed, and no longer broken. But he had burnt his bridges with me, and I sold him to Ajax in the close season for £2.6 million. Good riddance. :BYE:
Same happened to me when playing with Everton, Real wanted to buy Howard and of course i rejected all their Bids, Howard got pissed off and his Heart broke. I have played like 20 Games after that and its still broken. :CONF:

Call it realistic but IMO it sucks when you cant decide to sell your Players or not. If you let them stay you cant play them anymore cause of consistent down Arrows. Many People would just buy a new Keeper but i prefer playing with the "original" Squads.

If you let them stay you cant play them anymore cause of consistent down Arrows. .

To be fair, Sorensen is the only player that spat his dummy out. I have turned down bids for Lawerence, Etherington and Fuller, and all of those players are still happy. Maybe it was because Sorensen was the only player that would have had the option of Champions League football ? Either way I shattered his dream. Fuck him.

Well, I'm 7 games into my second season in my ML and it certainly wasnt the best of starts. I hate Cisse, he is shit. He missed 3 sitters on his debut, fell over his feet, and has basically had a nightmare since. I also dont like the look of him, he looks about 80 years old, and doesnt play much better. His touch is woeful, his shooting accuracy is pityful, and he is getting off-loaded as soon as I get the chance. He was admittedley, a rash and poor purchase.

After getting knocked out of the FA Cup in the 1st round, and losing my first two Premier League games and managing a 0-0 draw with Wigan in the other game, I was desperately in need of a spark of inspiration. After 4 games without a goal something had to change. I opted to change my hustling tactics for a more open approach. I lowered my support range sliders, upped my player support and postional switch slider, and lowered my compact and pressing sliders to give me more width. I dropped Cisse and Hadji, and brought in McFadden ( on a red), and my new summer signing, and Ivory Coast under 21 international, Cyriac.

Cyriac I'd bought for the future, his stats looked promising, he is only 20 years old, but since signing him in the summer he'd been on a purple arrow for 3 games and a blue, so he never even made the bench. I guess the little lad was a little homesick. His condition arrow was now on an 'orange', so I thought, hell why not, give the kid a start and his full debut at home to Aston Villa.

Cyriac's impact was instant. After some lovely build-up play, a cheeky through ball put in McFadden who slotted home to make it 1-0. Villa levelled the game 10 minutes later with a header from a corner. With minutes left of the first half Cyriac picked up the ball, beat 2 men, faked a shot from 25 yards, sold the defender, brought it back onto his right foot and cracked one right in the top corner to make it 2-1. :BOP:

Villa then equalised again on 74 mins after a defensive mix-up. I thought, here we fucking go again. I then pushed all attacking sliders up and looked to get everyone forward. With a minute to go, an early cross pumped into the box from just inside Villa's half caused panic, and Cyriac was there to pick up the loose ball and slot home from 5 yards. The game ended, and a star was born at the Britannia.

The next game I kept with the same line-up and tactics, Cyriac scored again from a header. We beat Spurs 1-0 away. In the next game Cyriac notched again to make it 4 goals in 3 games. This goal was special and showed another side of his game I was yet to see. After a lovely weighted through ball from Tuncay, Cyriac was put through and 1 on 1 with the Hull keeper. Instead of opening his body and looking to side foot it into the bottom corner, he chose instead to effortlessly flick/stab the ball over the keeper and into the far corner. It was beautiful technique, very little power, and very Romario-esque with the finish. I really wasnt expecting that sort of technique from the little fella, but it was a stunning to watch. We beat Hull 2-0 with the ever improving Lawerence getting the 2nd.

I only have £750,000 in the bank, but as soon as I get up to £1 million, I'll be training Cyriac so he has the 1 on 1 finish player card. He is a legend in the making, the new Drogba.

With that I went bed, it was 1.30 am again, and I was at work this morning at 7.30am. Man this game is so fucking addictive. :CONFUSE:

(The new Drogba) ;)

Is there anyway the AI can be fixed even in the edit mode because its ruining master league for me. In pes 2009 they were good at going forward especially if they went 1 nil down.

PES 2010 now has Fifa AI - play the ball around a lot without any real conviction of causing attacking problems for us

This has always been a great aspect of PES/ML on matter what you do a shit purchase is a shit purchase and it can happen to the best players also, love it(not) when it happens.

Jimmy, how do you align points for ability training (can't remember what it's called, when you redistribute training points) for this promising player of yours?

He is definately worth a purchase. He has two good feet, good technique, nice first touch, balance, dribbling accuracy is 78 so he will go to that magic 80 soon, which will give all the feints. He has bags of potential. ;)

You need to go to the Clubhouse, then Training, and to allocate focus points. It's the same system as BAL last year. Just add the training points to which ever area you want your player to improve. You have Pass, Shoot, Dribbling, Athletic Ability, Defence. Or, you can go to Specialist Training add train him in a certain Player Card for the cost of £1 million and 8 weeks.

Its pretty bad isn't it. It ruins the experience for me when I don't need to adjust my tactics against better teams cause I know I will be able to keep a clean sheet. They are so unadventurous its untrue. I've had the odd game against Arsenal on an exhibition game with condition set to Excellent and they've really come out and attacked me, but thats very rare for me

Thanks mate but I know how to allocate the focus points, I worded the question wrongly. I want to know how your focus points are for this particular player.

It is ruining it big time for me mate. Someone on pesfan posted this:

This could be a FIX for dumb AI

My biggest gripe with the game is AI on offense - no long shots, always using wings, rarely something exciting.

Well, I changed the team in Auto settings to ALWAYS attack (its 3-4th down or something) and now AI attacks a lot more, and does sit there on d playing with itself

try it lemme know if you notice a difference

Somebody replied with this:

for people who dont understand this comment, i think he means.. Game Plan.. Assisted Settings.. very last option of.. Attack Balance.. move slider right along to the right.. Super Offensive

Dont know if it is possible to go into edit mode and edit all the teams game plan to this way but I might give it a shot after Daymos has released the Xbox 360 Option File which could be today.

To me the AI is like that from Fifa 09 and I quickly got bored of it.

What happened to the varied attacking AI opposition from PES 2009? Can nobody else in the forum see this?

Thanks mate but I know how to allocate the focus points, I worded the question wrongly. I want to know how your focus points are for this particular player.

I have only had him for 7 games. I've set 6 points to dribbling accuracy, the full quota, as I want him to get to 80 so I can pull off the tricks with him. I have 6 points allocated to Shooting, and the remainder on Pass. He is striker, but I need him to be able to create that extra space with the step-over shoulder fake, or the drag back heel roll, and I wont be able to do those tricks unless he gets to 80 dribbling accuracy. The shooting abviously speaks for itself and the passing stats I want improving so he can lay it off with precision.

Are you guys conceding many goals?

I conceded 4 against Man Utd and Chelsea on Professional, both were battling for the title so came at me hard. I dont really have a problem with the attacking nature of the opposition. They play it around nice and look to find the holes before they go for the throat. They certainly dont just run at you with no thought to their play.

Gerrard, Lampard, Drogba, Ashton of all tried screamers from 30 yards plus against me. Which is what I'd expect from these players.

I always play ML at the highest setting, never change it.

Jimmy - You've signed Hadji of Coventry, he's like 40, sure it isn't Yossouf? Can't remember what French team he's with now, something like Nancy or Rennes.

Managed to get another 3-1 win at home against another fake team, that's me now top of the league above Panathainakos. Went down 1-0 to a headed cross, then Zeus my inspirational 18 year old skipper scored a screamer from outside the box, then Dracos dis-possessed their centre half and the ball broke to Zeus who ran through the defence before slotting the ball way. Then Dracos nodded home the 3rd to seal the win.

Still no ratings have come up from players, just some description of him "durable player", "popular player" etc. And that's me into my 4th league game and have been scouting these players from the very start.

And my team only had £2m to start off with. Still can't believe the ridiculous amounts of money for paying scouts etc, although if I can get promotion I hope the income is huge then.

Started a ML with Braga in second division: a division with the Portugese, Greek, Turkish , Serbian, Croatian and some Roumanian teams. First division is La Liga (Spain).
Played 3 matche sat the moment: 2 wins and one draw (0-0).

PS: Jimmy, IRL Cyriac is rather average for Standard...

That Hadji never played for Coventry, and he's far from 40 years old. This is not Moustapha Hadji, but his brother who is playing for Nancy...but definitely not the one who played for Coventry.

I am not trying to put you down here mate or pes for that matter because I am loving the game online and against mates, its just the computer AI that sucks. If you are conceding 4 goals you must be playing with 2 at the back!? :P

This has been raised on the other pes sites. Have a look at these links:

LOL !! Thats just typical of me and my current knowledge of world footballers, very poor at times.

He certainly looks like the dude that played for Coventry, but as Gerd states, it's his brother, so I dont feel like a complete idiot, just a major one. :CONFUSE:

Also, I after finishing my first season, you definately have to fork out big bucks again for your playing staff mate. I upped my Coach and Scout to Level 5, and dropped my Fan Club down to the lowest.

PS: Jimmy, IRL Cyriac is rather average for Standard...

He just needs a good manager, and someone to take him under their wing.

Yep, I'm shit !!

Seriously though, I have only conceded 4 twice, and one of those games should have really been 3 goals as I went 'manual keeper', and it screwed up. In those games Chelsea and Man Utd played completely different than they did in my first fixture's with them.

It obviously is an issue if people have mentioned it, as yet, I havent really felt it, but there is plenty of time I guess.

Edit - I was just thinking, do you not think the patient build-up play by the CPU falls inline with the new simulation based style of PES 2010 ? This isnt PES 2009 and the end to end style play of that game. I check the stats after each game and the CPU will average 5-7 shots on goal in a 10 minute game. The general tighter positioning of the players will certainly always limit the amount of clear cut chances due to the nature of PES 2010. I have always felt that the pace of the game is highly realistic. The breaking down of the defence and midfield is alot harder, resulting in less chances on goal. This, for me personally replicates the ebb and flow of a real game. And when was the last time we saw a 0-0 on a PES game ?.

Anyway, just a thought.

I've not played PES since 07 on the PS2 - after that I turned to the dark side. However, Manager Mode on FIFA 10 is the biggest dogs breakfast I think I've ever seen from a 'career mode' in a football game... it's dire. So tomorrow I pickup my copy of PES 2010 and I'm back where I started when I first played ISS on my PSone.
Can't wait, even if the gameplay is a bit iffy compared to FIFA there's no doubt that Master League has me excited like a kid again. From what I can make out reading these forums, it appears that PES's faults seem less apparent when somebody's deep in the throws of a Master League addiction, would that be fair comment?

Some people prefer to seek out all the negatives of game. Unless these negatives are personal game-breakers, then they really arent an issue. Every single game in PES history has had flaws, nothing is ever perfect. I prefer to focus on all the positives, with PES my glass is always half-full as opposed to half-empty.

I have never, ever played a PES as good as PES 2010 for simulating real football. The balance is brilliant. If you seriously put this game side by side with any PES game on the PS2, there really is only one clear winner in my eyes.

I'm loving this Master-League campaign, it's challenging, well thought out, perfectly paced, and stacked with individuality that breeds infinite variables. This is football.

Jimmy you have very rose tinted glasses, but i haveto say i'm enjoying my ML too.
I was determined not to buy PEs this year, but the buggy MM in FIFA made me change my mind.
I have both games now and i think gampeplay wise FIFA is beter, but it is both BAL and ML of PES that i play most. For lack of a beter word, i find FIFA "soulless". I think the reason is a very trivial one: the fond is too small for my older eyes...that's the main reason why playing MM is not a very pleasant experience for me, it think.
I haven't noticed the bugs yet.

PS: compared to NBA2k10 both football games are rather ordinary.

About my ML: after 4 matches i'm second (Braga) in division 2 with 10 points out of 12. Panathinaikos have also 10 points but have scored more goals.

I have no problems with the AI tbh. I've noticed when I go all out attack I leave space behind and the AI takes full advantage of that. Did that against Burnley on their ground when I, Sunderland, got cocky and thought it was an easy win because they were in the relegation zone but they proved me wrong and I nearly lost to them tbh. I was lucky to win 1-0. They had 6 shots on target and missed 2 1-1s. At the end of the game I desperately wanted to jump on Gordon and give him a big hug and express how much I love him

Again, lovely game this.

Jimmy you have very rose tinted glasses,.

Well I love the game thats for sure. PES has always evoked the kind of emotions I feel on a football pitch in real life. Fifa has never been able to give me that feeling. I agree with your comment 100%, for me Fifa is a soul-less experience.

I probably play PES more than anyone on here. It is the only video game I really play. I spent another 7 hours on the game last night. I know it's flaws, I'm not stupid or blind, but I look to appreciate it's strengths Gerd, and everything it does right to replicate the game I love. There is only one option for me when it comes to playing a football game, so if my glasses are rose tinted because of that, then so be it.

PES is what it is. I cant change what I dont like, which in this game is very little. So I dont start bitching about things I have no control over. The fact of the matter is that this 'feels' as close to replicating real football than any other PES game I have ever played, and I have battered them all, bar PES 2008, but everyone makes mistakes, and this was Konami's.

As for PES 2010 and the new ML,I love it, love it, love it, love it.

From what I can make out reading these forums, it appears that PES's faults seem less apparent when somebody's deep in the throws of a Master League addiction, would that be fair comment?

For me it's simply the speed which makes it so much better, playing with two strong clubs or even national teams in the game makes for a match of supermen, playing with the original ML cast (Minanda, Burchet, etc) makes the speed much more agreeable for me. I'm sure some people find it too slow.

I'm not having too much trouble winning on top player compared to last games but I still have to work for the points, and the games are very exciting. Once I put my whole team up for a corner to try to get a win, I blew it and the other team attacked with four men against one defender, I kept my calm, backed up as far as I got and then tackled their striker in the last moment to keep the one point.

It doesn't hurt that ML is so much deeper this year, "managerially". Although it still has it's funny moments, I brought in an all rounder, less known player who got instantly injured in training, a week later, still injured, he was angry cause he didn't get enough chances :D What was I supposed to play him injured?

I brought a kid through the Youth Team and and signed him Pro. After 2 weeks the cheeky little swine had a face on because he wasnt been given his chance. That made me laugh, I gave him his chance of Pro football and already he's whinging for a start. Bless him.

The funny thing is, the last game before I went to bed last night, I gave him a first team start, on the left wing. His stats are shit, but he does have the Passing player card, hence the reason I gave him a Pro contract. Anyway, I was 1-0 down against Spurs away from home, with a minute left on the clock. I'd pushed all the attacking sliders up looking for a last minute equaliser, the ball broke free, to the left wing. I tried an 'Eary Cross' from the wing with my Youth team player, Ettori, just inside Spurs half. He pinged an unbelievable ball a good 45 yards in the air, and onto the run of my new hero Cyriac. Cyriac took the ball down with one of the best first touches you will ever see, it gave him the perfect platform to get the ball out of his stride, open up his body and calmly slot the ball in the far corner to make it 1-1 in stoppage time.

I jumped out of chair. It was the last throw of the dice. A cracking ball from the youngster, a world class first touch from Cyriac, and a beautifully composed finish.

I'll post the video later, it was special.

Another one of so many moments that put a smile of my face last night, involved the player I love to hate, Cisse. He had been dropped for 4 games, I didnt even put him on the bench. But for this game Cyriac was on a blue, it was also against Sunderland, at the Stadium of Light. I thought, well, if Cisse was ever to be given another chance, it would be now against his old club. As a player, you always enjoy going back to a former club, and you always try and impress, you get an added impetus if you like. I stuck with this mentality by starting Cisse. He hadnt scored for me in 4 games, but I just felt this was his time. With less then 5 minutes gone, he scored his first goal for me, a thunderous right foot shot from all of 25 yards. We went on to win the game 1-0, and Cisse got Man of the Match.

It was also the first game that Liam Lawerence, another ex Sunderland player, had his 80 dribbling accuracy stat, his stats had just reached that magic number 80 in the training session before the game. Obviously, I made sure Liam treated the Mackems to some cheeky feints and tricks out of his new arsenal.

You just cant write this stuff. PES at its very best.

I'm amazed at the praise you are lavishing on Master League!

I started one with Rangers and even though I know they're not a great team they should surely be able to do a simple turn? My players move as if they're running through treacle! What's the idea with the passing too? My players hit powder puff passes so that the comp can intercept them easily then when I go for a thru ball they over hit it almost every time. The comp players are always faster and stronger than yours no matter what their stats are like and more often than not the games are boring, ground out results with me winning by 1 or 2 at the most because the comp sits with 2 banks of 4 players in front of their goal.

I am REALLY not enjoying ML this time around and I've already slated BAL on another thread. The flaws in this game make me want to weep with frustration. It's slow, the controls are sluggish, the refs are terrible, the AI is awful and the comp AI cheats more than ever.

I expected an improvement on last year but it's gotten worse. A lot worse. I've lost count of the amount of times i've pressed X to pass and nothing happens so i press it again and again until he finally hits it. Same with shooting and crossing. The AI sticks to you like shit to a blanket in this mode but in BAL your team mates are fucking useless at marking! It's SO annoying!

Seriously considering taking this game back. I would if it wasnt for 2 player mode. I think that's the only way this game can be played with any enjoyment and the reason for that is it limits the shit AI's involvement.

You're all entitled to your opinion of this game of course, but you're wrong. ;)

Here, Here and it certainly beats Fifa 10 MM when every AI team plays the same way and because of decent player movement from midfield your strikers score 50 a season

one question:
whats the scout salary for ?

coz i will search myself for players
this option on starting the ML i checked that i do it

faster stats view on the player and faster signing i suppose ?
