I noticed that the CPU doesn't hound you down as much, you get a bit more freedom to play, I also noticed the CPU isn't as super-humanly clinical with its finishing in one on one's.

Funnily enough, the 2 games against Boro and Blackpool... the possession was 50%-50% and 49%-51% respectively.
I actually had less of the possession against Blackpool, I just took my chances better than they did.

I've noticed v1.0 to have exactly what both of you chaps are saying. The CPU seems to distribute its players more evenly according to their positions, whereas the patch, I think, has attempted to make things harder for the player by shoving them all back inside their own half, parking the bus and playing on the break as in PES2012. This, I think, is why they nerfed the tackling mechanics in the patch so CPU breakaways could be more effective and provide more of a goal threat.

I also find v1.0 to even out possession more as the CPU looks to pass backwards, sideways etc in order to work around your defenders. I think that's because the tackling in the original version is far superior so it can't just slalom through your players on breakaways. That, and it simply has more passing options because players are spread more evenly over the pitch.

I've not had much time to carry on my ML of late, but I've got around half a dozen games in this week and am nearly at the halfway stage of season two. My financial woes are being eased by the fact that I'm now a point clear at the top, but have a twelve point cushion in the promotion spots. I'm still undefeated in the league, but have come mighty close. On several occasions I've been losing with minutes remaining and turned it around, sometimes to even win the game. Most of the time it's the likes of Gaitan, El Hany or Everton Costa who pull something extraordinary out of the bag, but my free transfers are pulling out all the stops so far. I'm still amazed at how I've managed to sign so many decent players and not have to pay a transfer fee yet!

I'm still on the look out for a DCM though. I don't know if the game is trying to dampen my promotion charge, but I'm still finding that across the board, universally, no-one in the entire footballing world wants to join my squad beyond about 2% interest. Not even 60-rated players. Anyone else found this?

Shame that when the new patch comes out in Dec, to disable the auto save and fix the crossfield passes that it will be based on patch 1.0 - cant have it all it seems, quite literally.
Super - Have you tried using the 'Advanced Search' function in Transfers?
Go to group and select free agents or try filtering and return players who are out of contract ?
i picked up a couple of really useful players through here who, even if their chances of signing are low, are more susceptible to join because they current dont have any club.

I'm able to sign players, although I still get a lot of 2%, but also now 46% etc etc.

I did sign a better Scout though, one of the £1,000,000 guys, he specialises in convincing good veterans to join the Boro. To be fair, the list of potential targets increased a lot once I hired him.


I checked the potential targets a week before and a week after I employed him, and the difference was huge. Also, as it said on the tin, a lot of those were decent 30 year old plus players. :)
 
I think id been over-using the R2 button too. As weird as that sounds, there's been such a focus on it this year, even though every year R2 is your best friend, that I have been using it for nearly every touch, when you don't need to.
Last night I was able to slalom through 4 CPU players just by using the LS to dribble, only flicking the R2 when I need to control a fast paced cross or pass, or to take a deft touch when dribbling, or of course, to use as a first touch mechanism to evade a marker,
As a result my game flows better.
 
Thanks for the suggestions guys but it's the same in advanced search. But you're right, every Feb in ML, then at the end of each season, I advance search for contracts expired etc. That's how I came across Gaitan, Nolito etc. Even in pre-season of season two,no club had picked them up!

During season one I looked through various searches in advanced search, and there were plenty of players, mostly not very good, who would be around 40-50% which is very attainable. There were the odd player at 98%, but literally the moment I signed four players on free transfers rated between 75-90, everyone else just plummeted to 2%. Really don't get it.
 
Jan 1st is always a good time to look for young players and released youths and 1st Feb for players that have fallen out of contract during the Jan window.
As good as the Advanced searched filters are, id like to see the option to search by chances of signing, so you could sort all the highest chances at the top....then filter these by position, age, or key stat.

That way if you wanted to find a CF that was 20-25, and had high shot accuracy and good explosive power, and was likely to sign, you could, it would be 3 clicks.

I'm enjoying master league but it's broke as fuck. A total shambles. The form issue is getting out of hand now, it serves no purpose other than for the game to use it as a tool to make you lose games.

I win a home game 4-0, great all-round performance, then the next match, away from home, I notice that ALL my defenders and goalkeepers are on purple arrows. Every single one in the whole squad. What happens? I lose 3-1 because it just slaloms past all my defenders and the keeper lets a series of crappy shots dribble in. I let that go, then the next game, again, almost everyone on my team are on purple arrows. I conceded another shitty goal that had everything to do with that and I turned it off intending to replay the game. I hate doing that but seriously, Konami need to get a grip here. It's a farce.

To cap that off, prior to that I had a record of 12 wins, 2 draws, 0 defeats. Just two losses in a row would have then seen me a ludicrous 4 points away from the top team, who I've noticed have somehow won 11 consecutive games by the score of 1-0. Eleven games.

This form thing though is a total shambles, I don't think there's any way of rectifying it. I signed a ton of players all with vastly superior form ratings, then signed a coach who's form training is 3 stars rather than my previous coach, who only had one star for form training, yet magically it's been worse by a mile this season. It's just the game trying to scupper my season.

In season one, with a form coach of one star, my keeper never had a purple arrow once. A few blues, yes, but no purple. Since signing a coach with form training three times better than the previous coach, my exact same keeper has so far had SEVEN purple arrows in just fifteen games.

Coaches seem to do absolutely nothing, then.
 
Looks like my transfer system is fucked as well, I'm now in the transfer window and I can't sign anyone. I looked through all the game's transfer listed players, and I'd say three quarters of them have 0% interest in signing, no matter what their ability. There isn't a single player in the entire game world in ML more than 2% interested in signing. This is totally broken.

Oh, and I've now lost three straight away games, mainly due to having blue and purple arrows over most of my team. I replayed one away match three times due to the huge levels of cheating going on, and just gave up and accepted defeat. In all three games I conceded a soft as shite goal I could do nothing about in the first five minutes, in all three games I then spent 75 minutes battering their keeper with shots until I finally equalised, and in all three games the CPU instantly went up the pitch and scored an instantaneous winning goal, unsurprisingly due to the arrows, all three winners were shitty shots that my keeper could have easily saved but just stood there and didn't even attempt to dive.

WTF is wrong with my game? Bizarre form arrows focussing on my keeper and defence week after week, and now the game has disabled me from being able to attempt to sign anyone.

In fact I've switched it off and given up for the time being, at times it's a fucking pathetic travesty of a game. 12 wins in 14 games, then suddenly I can't sign any players, form arrows go to shit, the one game where I did have normal arrows, it didn't matter, I lost the game 4-0 at home. That's 5 losses in 6 games all of a sudden.

This happened in my first season too. Around the halfway stage the game decided I was going to start losing and it fucked up my season. Now it's doing it again. EVERY defeat has been scripted bollocks. Every one. Now, every match I play, the CPU has ramped it up a notch and every team is playing the same stupid formation of five at the back and four defensive midfielders, then hammer me on the break with ping pong passing like it's on crack. Frankly, it's pathetic, I don't feel like I'm under any control whatsoever of the results I'm getting.

i don't know, i'm in my third year with schalke (newly promoted and bottom half of the table), with a club ranking of 120. I get a full list of targets and I can refresh that list by changing my formation. however, the list is relative to my funds. No funds, no list. but it's true, that aside from my list of targets, no transfer or loan listed player will sign for me (with a club ranking of 120). I think this seems appropriate. I guess it matters that my scout is average. I'm not having a problem with this...

I've got a good, average team with great teamwork stats and having a good run at mid-table. very enjoyable.

I'm bailing from Superstar now, its total bollocks. I've been falling into this trap of thinking that I'm not fully 'completing' the game as such unless I beat it at its hardest difficulty. I don't know why. I never, ever play other games on their toughest difficulty. I never played any FPS on insane difficulties, yet for some reason I get pulled into it with PES.

I've never seen so much cheating going on in a game as I have tonight though. From winning 12 out of 14 I've now lost 6 out of 7, with virtually all of the games featuring 'questionable' goals from the CPU. Utter garbage.

I'll literally go from beating a team 4-0 to losing 3-0. In fact I won a huge match at home to the league leaders, 4-1, which brought me back within two points of them, then the following match I find myself 2-0 down after half an hour to the two most bullshit, robotic goals I've ever seen.

On Superstar, the game literally decides when you are and aren't going to win. It's utter crap and I won't go on it again! Top Player for me.

I play my ML just two ways: 15 minutes on Top Player or 20 minutes on Superstar. I prefer the 20 minute Superstar--it's the most intelligent cpu gameplay, I think.

But I can't emphasize enough the teamwork stat. Now in my third year I finally have a very workable roster. I don't have a player with a teamwork stat under 70 (edit, actually the lowest one is 61 and there are a couple in the 60s but that's pretty good). And my team is just a bunch of 60s and 70s overall, with a 82 keeper, but they work really well together. For example, I had a top young prospect from the youth team, a striker with a shooting accuracy of 83 and the advanced striker card. I had sent him on loan for half a season and he returned with a teamwork stat in the 30s. I waited half a season and he only made it up to 42. He was never going to get back into the team. So I sold him and picked up a much more average striker but he had a teamwork stat of 82 or 83 at his old club. He arrived with a 68 and now plays regularly.

Forget about you not winning every game for a change mate, and just consider it to be a dip in form for the team. What really is so unrealistic about that ? I'd suggest if you'd gone the whole season without a blip or run of defeats, then that would be a problem.

With all due respect, I didn't hear you complaining of scripting in your benefit when you scored all those last minute goals to come from behind and win.

It is what it is, take your defeats like a man and roll up your sleeves and crack the fuck on bud.

And for the record, you've done awesome with the defaults on Superstar, but the whole idea of playing these games is to enjoy them. If the bias on Superstar is too much, change it. You can't expect nothing less on that level. If the CPU makes 10 passes and scores, it's scripted. If they hit a 30 yard FK, it's scripted. If the score from a last minute corner, it's scripted. It isn't anymore scripted than when you win in the manner you have done. Swings and roundabouts bud, that's footy. Our Boro team went to Reading and won with 5 of the first 11 on Purples, and another two on Blues. Go figure.

Yeah, I also have access to the discussion thread. What do you want me to say ? It's never happened to me, never seen anything like that. I've actually seen more crazy stuff from the CPU that has worked in my favour, than against me.
 
thats fine , if you enjoy the game thats all that matters.
me personally, pes does not float my boat like it used too. i thought they would have eradicated most of the stupid flaws by now but i suppose they can't and the game still relies heavyly on scripting as it always has, to make the game flow end to end.as a point of principle i refused to buy this years version on account of less modes and the game being pes12 with a patch.and my main gripes with the game, still being in.but thats my choice, the first time ever i have not bought pes since the ISS days.

That's kinda my point though Jimmy. You never see that precisely because of the difficulty you're on. I was actually moaning about the cheating that goes on on Superstar alone, which is why I also said I was not going to play on that difficulty any more.

But you can't just argue that I have had a fair share of 'scripting' work in my favour simply because I scored with a few late goals. My late goals didn't have any element of luck about them, they were deliberate, worked goals. I never had CPU defenders running away from their own goal, I never benefitted from CPU having bizarre cursor switching issues, I never see the CPU charge up shots and passes in vital areas only for the game to refuse to perform the action. And I never saw the CPU keeper let in a goal from one shot only. Only once in nearly two seasons have I seen one bit of luck, a random own goal the game scored where a guy booted it into his own net. Once in probably 70 matches.

Contrast that, and I can count in the last eight games alone, probably ten or eleven incidents going against me like the one in that video - which is a very tiny microcosm of the cheating that I've seen go on. The game very deliberately made the only player capable of getting to that loose ball run in the complete opposite direction. Not much I can do about that is there?

Like I said, I'm changing difficulty because it's simply not enjoyable getting fucked over game after game like that. And nope, I don't expect to win every match, far from it, but to dominate so much, winning 12 in 14, then for a total and sustained period of matches to then pan out where I get done over by instances like in that video, for nearly ten games in a row, well, then yeah, that's cheating.

I've never seen Man Utd, Chelsea, Barcelona, anyone top of their league season after season win so many games and then 'magically' they lose seven out of eight matches. Teams at the top have blips, the odd bad result, but they don't go from one total extreme to the other. They don't win nearly every game they play then wake up the next day and lose game after game after game in unlucky and dubious circimstances. But that sums up my point that the game on Superstar plays half the game for us. It decides when people win or lose. The very fact that I can win 12 in 14 then lose 7 in 8, all to laughably scripted goals, shows exactly that the game is making that happen whether I like it or not. I still play the same way, to the same ability, but the game suddenly chose to have me lose to try and even things up. If it can't do it legitimately, it screws you over in other ways. Is it a coincidence that I had no control issues for the first 14 games of the season, now suddenly stuff like strikers taking shots when clean through randomly 'hang' and do nothing, only for the CPU to then have a shot that deflects off three people before fucking up the cursor switching and making the player you should be controlling run the opposite direction from his goal?

Hence the change in difficulty.

But here's the issue that I have with the game. On Superstar, shit like this happens all the time and it happens in cycles through the season. It's pre-determined. So, I knocked it back down to top player, and I'm winning games 4-0. Fun at first, but how long it'll stay interesting, I'll have to wait and see. I just think the game is incapable of providing a solid challenge without resorting to cheats.

I appreciate you say this doesn't happen in your game, I doubt it draws on it on Professional. I was merely pointing out a big personal issue in that I find the game too easy on all levels apart from Superstar, where it can't provide anywhere near a fair and consistent level of challenge. And that's a big problem for a mode like ML.

Anyways, Jimmy, I was just pointing it out as a huge flaw. I'm doing what you suggest and lowering the difficulty until I get bored of it, basically. There's no other option other than to keep getting wound up at an unfair AI code. Doesn't sound like fun to me.

To change the subject, can anyone offer any advice for changing form arrows at all? Since signing my 'improved' coach my form arrows have been appalling all season. I'm just about to go into a promotion six-pointer with my keeper and both centre backs yet again on purple arrows. It's bordering on ridiculous. I think my keeper has been on a purple for roughly half the entire season. Which is odd, because his form rating is 7 out of 10 and my form coach has three stars out of five.

I've quit and deleted my save games, I'd had enough, not even of the game but of the mode itself.

The form issue got out of hand and stayed the same right through to the end of season two. I can only assume the game was trying to make things more difficult or something. Five players with purple arrows week in, week out.

Add to that, once season three officially began, and I was now in the Portuguese Primeira Liga, El Hany, Gaitan and Maxi all slapped in transfer requests. I can kind of see that logic, El Hany was rated at 75 but Max was now 90 and Gaitan 91, so they wanted a bigger club.

The final straw was the inability to even set the player's worth. The game is full of players rated at 75 with an estimated transfer fee of £15-20 million, yet the game set Maxi's worth at £1.5M and Gaitan at £4M. So when offers came in, which I really can't refuse without having unhappy and even more off-form players on my hands, the best offer I could accept was £6M for Maxi (really? For a 90-rated player?) and £9M for Gaitan.

I tried to overlook being totally mugged, seeing as I now had potentially better players to choose from having seen my world ranking jump up 100 places, and being in the top division, but no. With a transfer kitty of £24M I went to the player search and found there were still no players to sign.

There were no free agents above anyone rated at 70, and none of them were more than 2% interested in joining. I looked at transfer listed players, and players on my targets list, and again, there were none rated above 70 or so and none of them were interested. I looked overall and found about 3 players out of probably 200 who were more than 2% interested in joining my club, and they were awful players.

So I don't know what that was about. With the awful form week-in, week-out, being mugged off on transfer fees for all my top players handing in transfer requests, and the total lack of anyone interested in signing for me, I really didn't see the point.

Shame. The mode is full of holes. :((
 
Boro finally ended their 2nd season in the Championship, missing out on Promotion by a point, on the very last day of the season. Gutted.:(

With Newcastle and Bolton already promoted, the race for the 3rd place spot was an exhilarating experience during the final stages, but in the end it just wasn't to be.

Boro, with 3 games remaining, had moved into 3rd spot, with Forest and Reading just a point behind. We had lost our star-player, Ledesma, through injury during the final 7 games. That was a major blow, but the team dug deep and it looked like the Teessiders were about to pull off an amazing late charge to take all the spoils. Then it all went so very wrong with a trip to Elland Road.

With both of our keepers on a Purple, Leeds beat Boro 3-1, which then left us banking on other results.

The penultimate game of the season was home to Blackburn, of which the Boro came from behind to win 2-1. Unfortunately, both Reading and Forest had also won their respective games, which meant going into our last game at home to Champions Newcastle, we needed the win and for Reading and Forest to lose.

Boro scored first in a highly charged match at the Riverside, with the fans proving to be that 12th man on the park. At half-time, Boro were still leading, and the results from the other two games were in Boro's favour. Reading were losing 2-1 at Hull and Forest were gettin spanked 3-0 away to Wigan.

Newcastle then equalised early in the 2nd half to level the match, and sink the Boro fans hearts. With 10 minutes to play, Boro were handed a life-line when Woodgate powered home a header from a Williams corner to send the crowd into a state of euphoria. After switching to an ultra defensive formation, Boro held out for an amazing win.

After the rest of the days scores came seeping through, Forest had lost, but Reading had come back and won 3-2 to pip Boro to promotion by a single point. So near, yet so far........... :(

But wow, what a season !!

During the final run-in, Boro had tactically switched up the play during their matches to earn every single point. It was an amazing ride, that in the end just wasn't to be...........

Our Match of the Day features a cracking 4-3 come from behind win against Blackpool, some great goals here, the Emnes chest and volley being the pick. This was our 5th last game of the season, and testament to Boro's amazing fight during the promotion run .........

You've got to be kidding. It happens to me in almost every game.

Gameplay is the strangest I have ever seen.
So many comedy moments.
The fouling thing is my biggest gripe at the moment, CPU flattens your player, game plays on minimal contact from your player automatic yellow. Have not seen one CPU player sent off yet.
Even CPU play is bonkers at times, seen striker through on goal expect to concede only for the striker to pass back.

The purple arrow thing is bonkers played cup match most on orange and green no one suffering from fatigue, next match 14 players on purple and six more suffering from fatigue this from a 31 man squad which I have been rotating. Bought most of the nonsense from the shop-made no difference (except for the Personal trainer-too expensive at 5000 GP).

Sounds like quite a ride and what a gutting way to miss out on promotion!!!
You should be well placed for next season though.

In my own ML, its season 5, coming off the back of 10 wins and 2 draws from my previous 12 games, and sitting top by 5pts in D2, I then lost back to back games, to see Hudddersfield & Blackpool draw level on Points with me at the top.

I then beat Huddersfield convincingly 3-1 and Blackpool lost to set me 3pts ahead at the top of the table.

There's now 5 games left, and I have 2nd placed Blackpool in a potential title decider in the penultimate game of the season.
1 more win from the 5 games will see me clinch promotion at the very least.

Getting my chants pack ready and new kits designed for an assault on the premier league next season, barring a small miraculous disaster!!!

I must ask will you do a new manager mode once the 1.02 patch comes out, because i'm sure the master league will be better after the patch, not just the boot fiasco, but more just the settings, general settings being better setup, no crazy player development etc...
 
Ricky, are you commenting during your play or are you recording after? I couldn't handle commenting while playing. I'd be cursing the game so much.

Idk, maybe once ive finished the season. I dont really wanna stop half way through the season u know.

As far as the commentating question. I actually do play and commentate at the same time lol. If i was to do it after i dont think it would be as interesting, basically because i already know whats going to happen! :SMUG:
