I recommend that you no longer play league cup matches and, only with caution any Champions League matches. For me, ML is simply about league play. Those are the only legitimate matches, in my opinion. Cup matches are torturous affairs, even against lower teams (or especially against lower teams).

Frankly, I've given up on my Man United ML (my third ML). Now I've started again with a Division two side and I will only play in the second division. If we gain promotion, the ML comes to an end. For me, the only fun and fair games are as a mediocre side against other mediocre sides in a mediocre league. Beyond that, I just don't feel in control of my players or the gameplay.

Months ago I said that this was the best iteration of PES I'd ever played. Now, in this very limited way, I would still agree--the gameplay is wonderful and difficult. Otherwise, in any other way--as a top flight team, in the top flight, in any cup matches, the game is horrible and mean-spirited.

It certainly is mean spirited, it's programmed to dick the player over at any sign of success.

I'm still enjoying the game, my ML is still going better than expected, I'm second in the league after ten games which considering I just got promoted is way above what I'd expect.

However, playing the game as much as I have, it's becoming apparent the game just can't offer a proper challenge. Even on Superstar with no assists, I'm having 65% of the play now every single match, double the number of shots, yet I'm winning most league games 3-2 because you can't stop the COM from scoring from little to no build up play. I just can't stop the COM from scoring, despite being vastly the better side each time. I'll pound away at the opposition, get a goal, then instantly get pegged back by the COM with the same type of goals every time.

Thing is, I completely wouldn't mind it if I was promoted, and conceded a lot goals because the opposition was clearly better, and through pegging me back, keeping the ball, creating chances against me. I'd say fair enough. But what's happening over playing in Div2 is that the teams seem identical in ability other than players are faster, and the COM now offers itself the ability to score repeatedly from through balls out of the blue and against the run of play. This ain't realistic or fun.

The game seems to score from a long, raking through pass now every single game, and my two 80-rated centre backs, who have now played every game together for one and a half seasons, just open up before I have the chance to control them and allow a gaping big hole for the COM to run into and it does this in every game now. Thankfully I'm still scoring enough to win most games, but it's becoming a drag and ruining the fun. Also, the COM is performing a cheap exploit against me every time it's though on goal, the player ALWAYS finishes when one v one with my keeper by doing an R2 finish along the ground that curls round the keeper's outstretched arm and ALWAYS to the keeper's left. I have no idea why it does that other than it's a cheap exploit because it scores from this nearly every game now.

The COM does seem pretty basic. All it offers in ML with the better teams is that they are faster, close down more, the game allows through balls to reach their target no matter what, it does this exploit of the exact same finish every single time, and the only other thing it offers is the same drilled diagonal ball inside your full back. That's it, but it works because you can't stop it.

I came back to win a game too earlier on but was mighty close to snapping the disc in half. I was 2-1 up, into the last ten minutes, broke into their penalty area with two attackers vs just the keeper. I drew the keeper out, just as he got to me I squared the ball to my other striker who was totally on his own, with an empty net, and as he ran onto the ball the game switched the cursor to someone else entirely. The guy about to walk the ball into an empty net just instantly stopped, stood still, and watched from left to right as the ball dribbled past him and the keeper scampered over and picked it back up.

From the keeper's kick, they won the nod down, long through ball, their guy scored. 3-1 to 2-2 thanks to two moments of the game totally breaking down. Thankfully I then found another goal to go ahead and win 3-2 but this kind of stuff does seem to be happening more and more the higher I climb up ML. That cup match I played was indeed a total farce, it just helped itself to a goal literally every time I equalised, then in the second half kept pumping 60 yard through passes like the worst possible online exploiters around, scoring from every one it did.

I don't know how to stop these massive through balls the COM on Superstar is pumping down the pitch. Not when it's making my defenders run away from the ball depsite being 80-rated defenders.

Have you tried switching to a 5-4-1 formation via a Preset after you score ? We do this in our ML to keep things tight against the better teams, and it works a treat. Bias or not, teams are at the most vunerable after scoring. It's not as bad as PES 12 in this regard, but it is still there.

We had a great run last night in our 2-Player Co-op ML. We won 3 off the belt to go 2nd in the Division behind Leeds, and then we had a Quarter-Final F.A. Cup match against Manchester City, at their place :CONFUSE:

This was a HUGE game for us, my son is a life-long Manchester Utd fan, and the new Man City chants I have in place dissing Utd, ('It's only 4-1, it's only 4-1, blah, blah, 'It's only 5-1 etc etc, It's only 6-1 etc etc - really grinds on him). So this was personal. Also, after looking at the other teams left in the F.A. Cup, a win would more than likely get us into the Europa League. It was a massive ask, and this is how it played out .......

Errrrrrrrrrrm, so I just played a game away to Maritimo in the Liga Con Sagres, still on Superstar, with almost every single player on my team with blue or purple form. I check Maritimo, every player is on a yellow arrow.

I won the game 8-1 :SHOCK:

Dunno what happened. Maritimo were just shocking, I practically walked the ball in time after time, never seen anything like it. I'm expecting some COM-style payback any time soon, but wow, I never saw that coming.

Nolito won man of the match, bagging a crazy five goals, and the game gave him a rating of 7.5 :CONFUSE:
 
I think that i know what the keeper position problem was...it only happens to previous edited keepers...i was on division two, and that happen a lot, mostly because of the teams being edited with the Option File, last night i got promoted to the Premier League and that problem disappeared...with the exception of my second keeper, that now i have to sell and buy a new one! :P

We have Southampton in the Semi, as they beat Liverpool on penalties to progress. So that was a bonus. Chelsea meet Man Utd in the other.

City had only lost one game all season in the EPL and conceded a meagre 4 goals. We equaled that in that one game. Nice.

Beating Southampton will definitely gain us our Europa spot, and promotion to the EPL in the same season will be just grrrrrrrrreat. :)

Nice. Think of all that extra cash!

I had a similar game last night, I took great satisfaction in beating rivals Sporting to regain top spot. Sporting had only conceded 2 goals in 12 games prior to this, but a very hard fought 2-1 win doubled their goals against tally and took me to the top of the table!

Strangely, I then had my CB Sidnei come into my office to say how pleased he was with beating Sporting, and that the team have bonded so well they're "almost telepathic", in his words. Nice.

I'm now in the January window, and following Sidnei's comments I don't want to rock the boat with changes, so out went Minandinho for £350,000 and in came midfielder Amalfitano on a free from Newcastle. He'll compete with Gellazca as my left sided midfielder.

Looking at the Portuguese league, it's an exciting one to do in ML. It's only 16 teams meaning a 30 game season (which helps with stamina) and you have three champions league places, three Europa league places, three relegation places leaving just seven teams not in one of those spots.

One thing I can't seem to do though is attract more fans. Promoted in season one, defying all expectation to lead the Liga Con Sagres by halfway through season two, and the Stadium of Light is still 70% empty. Tough crowd.

Still going well in league, sitting top, but crashed out of the Cup after a good win over Braga I was beat 1-0 by Cavo who are also in Division 2.

Absolute torture, knew I was getting beat quite early on, as I just couldn't break them down, headers over the bar, their defence and goalie played fab. And the winning goal, a big hump up the park from a free-kick, my defender Dracos jumped but the ball was looping over his head, it grazed off his head and swerved round the goalie.

Just couldn't break them down.

I jst complete ML 1st season with barca....2nd in legaue & runner up in copa de ray....lose againsr real madrid in penalty.....i have messi at 103 overall...bt c.ronaldo only at 93...i have loan him from real madrid in last season.....just improve 92 to 93 ...despite scoring many goals & asist....why this happen....????
My another question is hoe to sign good players....i every time fail to sign neymar ....my scout is at 5 level and team have enough fund....any help plzzz...
 
Wow I'm still romping the Liga Con Sagres, exactly halfway through the season and I'm seven points clear at the top having banged in 47 goals in just 15 games. The nearest team to me in the goal scoring stakes is Sporting with 21 :SHOCK:

Amafitano has slotted in nicely on the left side of midfield since signing in the January window, and frankly all my players are developing at such a rate that I think people's experiences showing that all players in the game get too good might still be there. Even the likes of Paccini, Gellazca etc are in the mid-70s now, whereas Bruno Cesar, signed just a season and a half ago at 79 overall, is now rated at 90. Blimey.

I don't think it helps being able to buy stat boosts in the shop, and by adding boots, but it's too tempting not to. I've signed a RB on a pre-contract for nothing, with top attacking fullback and physical traits (I've realised that in this game, pace absolutely dominates everything else) including the offensive fullback card, but his defending is average at 65. Thanks to the knowledge I'll easily be able to instantly boost this into the 70s thanks to boots and items, I went ahead and agreed to the signing knowing I can turn him into the complete full back..

I'm enjoying it though, naturally as I'm currently winning. I did however get revenge away at Academica for the season before. They knocked me out of the cup last season in extra time, after a late 88th min equaliser to deny Benfica a shock result at club a division above at the time. This time around, my team is vastly improved, and it was a different story, as I dismantled them in front of their own fans, 4-1.:SMUG:

So, with no other cups to act as a distraction, and with me still hoping Superstar won't start to kick me in the teeth at some point, I'm now just 15 games away from the Portuguese league title. Maybe then, my fan base will get over 7000 fans and the stadium won't be so empty!

Just won the Liga Con Sagres with Benfica! I have won the Portuguese title with three games to spare. Bruno Cesar has been my captain fantastic, pretty much weighing in with the majority of my winning goals, most of them spectacular.

But somehow it feels like a kind of hollow experience. Firstly, all I needed was a win in my last seven games to secure a runaway title, but as soon as this happened then several games in a row felt like I was playing a fully stat boosted, robotic, hyped up COM no matter what the team was.

Then there were the goals I conceded. Pure comedy. I let in two identical goals where the COM had an empty net because my keeper had run 20 yards out to the side of his goal by the touchline. Then there was the time the COM made my centre back slam a header into his own net despite me using the clear button and pushing the stick away from goal. Then there was the game away at Sporting where I conceded another comedy own goal followed by two goals via through balls that were both intercepted, but the ball ran though my defender's body for the COM to run clear and score - with all three goals in the last nine minutes to turn a 2-0 lead into a 3-2 defeat. Or there was the time I rounded the Porto keeper only to shoot and for the shoot mechanism to mysteriously lag, not do anything with an empty net until the ball went out of play, or the two games I lost 2-0 to two shots and me hitting the crossbar four times in one match, three in another. Or, the other game I drew 1-1 despite the COM not managing an effort on goal - thanks to another own goal.

So I rampaged throug the season, scoring freely until the last seven games where I've limped desperately over the finish line. Don't know what that's all about.

But there's just something crap about the whole ML thing this year. I've been top of the table all season, yet the fans still aren't returning, and I win the league title in front of my own fans in a three quarters empty stadium. This is really stupid.

And then, when I win the league, there isn't even a cut scene showing them lifting the trophy. Nothing. All you get is about 20 seconds of players hugging and waving, no sign of a trophy at all. What an anticlimax.

Actually Radha you were spot on, the game in ML when you get further into it is a fucking mess. I just switched it off mid-match, I've no more interest in it.

Three seasons in, I played Porto, got beaten 2-0 to two pathetically scripted goals, saw as they outmuscled and outpaced all of my entire team, but I noticed how much all their player stats had grown. Barely a single player in their side, which is largely the exact same team they start out with, and they're all in the mid to high 80s. Pathetic.

The result? Aside from the horrendous scripting that decided the match, the game was a total fucking horror show from start to finish. Long, pinpoint, 200mph raking balls all the fucking time, across the pitch and inside the full backs. It's how the game has EVERY team play in this. High speed ping pong passing. I think if it were a human player, the COM would be repeatedly ping pong passing using the through ball button.

The games with better sides in ML are awful and no fun to play at all. They're so arcade, from one end to the other at breakneck speed, perfect COM passes being slammed 50 yards at a time, instant control, players belting around the pitch with no stamina effects, it's terrible. I've singularly lost all interest in playing the game now, at least in ML. With regular player ratings I'm sure the games are fine with better teams, but because every player is now as good as Maradona and as fast as Usain Bolt, it's become a farce.

I just can't take any more matches where the COM repeatedly tries though balls and long diagonal balls inside the full back. I'm totally sick of seeing it now. As am I totally sick of seeing the game manufacture utter bullshit goals the user can do nothing about.

Last game I played v Porto, again, some guy on their left wing got the ball, covered about half the length of the pitch in less than five seconds, I knew what he was going to do because the COM does the same thing every time, he slipped the ball through, my defender actively moved away from the ball despite me moving him in the other direction, perfect finish, goal. Next up, a cheap free kick won, lobbed up into the box, I'm there hammering the clear button, no one does anything, their player nips in and slots it home with a hyped up volley where his leg moved faster than the speed of light to wrap his leg around the ball at such short notice. I don't mind losing, but for fucks sake make my player clear or head the ball when I'm hammering the button. Why did it do this? Not because the input commands failed, but because the game decided the COM was going to score.

But my main issues with the way the game develops further into ML have nothing to do with difficulty levels. Master League is totally fucked this year from the very core. They've managed to get almost everything wrong with it from the basics upwards. Which is bizarre, because they've actively made these changes to the game. From transfers, form, match scheduling, player interaction, player loyalty, fan base numbers, even the fucking league table and the number of goals scored and conceded by othe clubs, everything in this ML is messed up.

This is the only football game I've ever played that 'rewards' Champions League qualification by making all your players suddenly want to leave with you unable to decide how much for, and then by altering the core gameplay so that everyone develops into tiny arcade versions of Maradonna. What a shit game.

Well to be fair it's only until you play ML for a few seasons that these faults with the game begin to show. But it is a game breaker for me. Playing high speed arcade football because every player is rated near 90 is ridiculous. I've quit my ML over it, this issue literally sucks the fun right out of the game.

But never mind, rather than fixing stuff like this, Konami have added extra goal celebrations and put some guy who won a PES tournament into the game. Think I'll go play something else now...
 
First time I have got this far in ML, lying in 6th with Olympique Lyonnais. Just past the January transfer window sold a couple of players promoted Nouhei from the Youth team. Signed Malouda from Chelsea (supposed to be signing in the real world), never had a player like this agree to sign before. A bit confused why his market value is £ 2.83 million but I had to pay £ 13.83 million.
Enjoying this ML this time so far even with all the ups and downs.
Fofana my CMF scored a free kick from thirty yards plus, never done that ever before.
Still not having any issue with all the other matches being low scoring.

Main gripe at the moment is the low foul count by the CPU, last match versus Nancy only one foul committed in ninety minutes.
Although in one match it seemed to be playing Fergie time until it scored a good three minutes after injury time had ended.

Yeah, the game is over for me right now. I'll wait for the patch, though.

I know it's blasphemy to say on this thread, but right now I am 3/4 of the way through the first season of Be a Pro on Fifa 13. I know it's not perfect, and I'm not saying it's better than PES. I'm not starting that argument.

All I know is that on Be a Pro, using approximately Placebo's sliders, the game is an absolute joy. It's amazing to have total control of your player at all times. The game is played almost entirely in the midfield. So many crazy bounces and bad touches and terrible shooting. Frankly, I find it the only way to play Fifa 13; controlling the whole team is too boring and systematic. But as Be a Pro, I actually feel like I'm part of the team, that I can contribute, or give away possession that leads to a goal. I'm pleased. I was an Arsenal recruit but was sent to York City on loan. 26 games, 8 goals, 5 assists, one sprained ankle, one diving header.

i've managed to create the mexican league in one of the 2 extra leagues pes 2013 has.
is there a way i can use this league as 2nd division and try to get promoted to the spanish Liga?

i mean, play ML as following:
1st div, La Liga
2nd div, Mexican League

please help!
 
starting a new ML soon - want to use a 'sleeping giant' English club so I thought Newcastle United fits that category perfectly. I have been playing friendlies so far (still waiting for Daymos patch until I start one) and really enjoying using them. I have always been a 4-3-3 man but want to try something different for a change and really love the 4-2-3-1 with Newcastle. Just completey dominated Arsenal in a friendly 2-0 on Top Player with them in this system.

My starting 11 will be:

I want to bring in a CB and AMF in the first transfer window as Taylor and Obertan (in the AMF position) are my weak links from the start I think. I am going to use the actual players from the off rather than the fake Konami ones.

the league i created it was over the PES league, but if i chose to start in that leage, the D2 will be the WE league..
if i choose to play as a team from La Liga.. i will still get the WE league as D2.

is there a way to change this?
i would LOVE to play as a mexican team in the created Mexican league (as D2) with the chance to get promoted to La Liga.

do i have to move the teams from the (former PES League) Mexican League to WE league?

please help :)

EDIT: it worked switching the teams to the WE league, i'll just wait for the next patch to start my ML

hey i have completed 3 season with barca.....with super star difficulty......all.time 2nd in league....in4 th season messi is jst like a superman ......107 rating......making hattrik in every game....sometime 5-6 game in a game......i beat real madrid 3-1....man utd 4-2 at old trasford.....its to easy nw.....i sign c ronaldo..from chelsea...shocking thing is ronaldo at just 92...nt devloping....no club want him...!!!!!!!...i buy him and make 93.........

If I'm correct Cristiano Ronaldo would be 31 years old which should tell you why he hasn't developed :)
 
I so wish they didn't offer these bloody stat-boosting boots after every other game or so. It really pisses me off. It's bad enough that the players develop too quickly, without boosting them even more.

I'm aware I don't have to assign them to players, but they do look better I guess than the plain black boots.

Yet another pointless Konami fuck-up. People complain, and rightly so, that all ML players have shitty black boots, so they flood ML with all these magic boots to rectify the problem. Yeah, brilliant.

Apart from that, loving this Co-op ML with my son, we are having the best ML experience ever. Even with these boot shenanigans..........
 
No.....C Ronaldo from the first season at 92....i loan him from real madrid....93 at the end...then chealsea buy him despite i try to negotiate....nw i buy him ....still he at 92...why...????!!....this happen first time ....i play ml with bayern munich & arsenal ....in that he above 100.....i using 1.1 patch with smoke patch....this may be bug....or part of reality in game...or he not given enough try at real madrid from begining.....

Yes, bootgate still rages on, even in this 1.03 update that i really like.

Problem now is players don't develop too fast anymore which is great but instantly now start with an overall 2/3 points up from from the start. Gameplay still seems fine for now with it, just found it odd in my new master league Jesus Navas was on 90, 3 points up from his default 87, because of the boots.

The way to fix the problem is simply straight remove any stat increase with boots. Or just bring back the PES 2012 system, moaning players and all.

Oh, sorry i mean by the time he has reached 31 years of age, in the 3rd or 4th season he wont get better :)

I think maybe he didn't play enough games and again also he was just getting old.
 
My Rodos team going good guns, getting chased by a few teams in the league (Div 2), but 3 points clear now going into December.

Don't have much money but hope to maybe manage to get a freebie or such in.
