Has informed about it the Portuguese newspaper "A Bola". I precisely do not know this newspaper is how much authentic, but I think that it is the truth as about it write on the majority of the Russian football sites, and it usually means that it is the truth.

What a waste....sorry to say that, but i dont feel it, this is right.

Do we have to go through this again?

Playing for a big club in one of Europe's most exciting leagues? - check

Playing at least six matches of Champions League football? - check

Playing in front of 60,000 every home game? - check

Now tell me, why is that a waste?

It is a waste for Schalke...they deserve better than Raul (at this age of course).
Schalke is a big an beautifull club in perhaps the most exciting competition of Europe.

It's a free transfer so I fail to see how it's a waste for Schalke. Raul will help raise the profile of the club and will give them masses of experience to take into their Champions League campaign. I know he's 33, but it's not that old and he is still a very talented goalscorer.

How much will he cost in wages ? Probably several million euros - he was a very talented goalscorer a decade ago, he's utterly washed up now, and he could be a disruptive influence on the Squad. Certainly the Spanish national team have benefitted from his absence.

If it would be a loan, i would not say anything...but he should retire in the Bernabeu.
Do you think Real will buy him again? And how long is the contract last, 1-2 years?

2 years and he'll work for Real in any way after that, but not playing football after the Schalke years.

I don't see why he should retire at the Bernabeu. If he loves football and wants to continue playing regularly then he had to move. And he's had the dignity to move abroad because I'm sure he didn't want to play for any other Spanish club. As PAT said, I'm sure he'll be back at Real in some non-playing role once he has retired.

You're right.. Not sure it will be the best move for Veloso though.

Personally I think he will do very well. Genoa are extremely ambitious this summer. I think he will be like Thiago Motta 2 years ago - he quickly become the spine and core of the team's midfield. It's a good stepping stone if he wants to move to an even bigger club after.
