Official GTA: SA Thread - (XBox & PC 7th June '05)

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

Just read a nice article from Kikizo regarding a "near final" build of the game they saw.

You can read it Here .

One of the standout points I noticed was the fact they thought the game looked like it was running at 50 - 60 fps!!!!!

nice article indeed.
it's all too good. i bet there will be slowdown near the penalty area.

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

Again, again, again. Brilliant, I want it now! :P

But you're right Ike, also if there are a lot citizens I think it might become slow. :P

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

Not necessarily - there might not be any slowdowns. I think they are being smart with regards to what the render and when, scaling the textures so that the furthest distances have lower res textures would help. But we don't know how much the engine has been tweaked. Most games in their first itterations have bloated game engines, hopefully they have taken the time to streamline this one as much as possible.

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

Bit more new info from GTAGaming.com.

# You can control trams by yourself.
# You can adjust the camera in different directions for example to prevent a crash during a chase.
# Tuning with your car will have no effect, only nitro will fasten up your car.
# If you gain enough experience you can control a tow truck. With this you can lift up cars and move them.
# While diving you can have a nice view on the fish. The time you can stay under water will be notified with a blue stamina meter.
# Underwater you can only use a knife.
# Rockstar isn't giving any information away about the animals, but in the water they saw some dolphins between the fishes.
# Sometimes a plane just crashes out of nowhere, accidents happen.
# You must earn some experience before you can play different types of games in Casino's.
# At the end of the game you would have made a small army of gangs.

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

Just got this HOT news from gtagaming:

Today, we can reveal that the actor voicing Carl Johnson in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas will be none other than Young Maylay, an up-and-coming musician from Los Angeles. Speaking exclusively to Official Playstation 2 Magazine USA, Dan Houser, director of the game described Maylay's voice as "powerful". The same article from the magazine also features an interview with Maylay himself, where he was asked how he came to be involved with the game.

"Actually, it was through DJ Pooh. He's been a producer forever...I was introduced, then the Rockstar family picked me up...I didn't know that Dan was listening, and I guess he was getting the idea about me being the voice right then."

-- Extract from interview with Young Maylay, Official Playstation 2 Magazine USA, Issue 86

Anyones better than 50Pence who was rumoured originally..................;)

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

Read a couple of posts up from the pic for info..............

I know ;) My point is they should have got a "name" to do it, can you compare him to Ray Liotta? I think not :(

but maybe he has a better suited voice than a "voice", 50 would have been crap, he can't talk!

I don't think they nesarcarily need a name for the main role anymore, the game is gonna sell a shitload regardless of whos in the main role. I'm sure the writing and acting will be up to scratch, cause R* could have got practically anyone they wanted!!

No I'm not saying they "need" a name, they certainly don't, they should have used a name because it further hammers the point "this is GTA, we're so fucking cool we've got Sidney Poitier* taking the lead role"....

*For example :)

Re: Official GTA: San Andreas Discussion Thread

They didn't want to use so many "voices" for the game, instead they went for credibility. And a lot of times, people can be great actors, and suck at voice work because it's sort of detached, so you get robotic one liners.

I thought Liotta did an 'okay' job, good, but could have been a lot better. Still worked though :P

Anyway, this game should be fucking bad ass, I'm taking days off work to play it, and they will be paid :P

50pence - Ha
