Nintendo Switch

I was debating whether to get Crash Racing or Mario Kart, but after playing both a bit, and also because of a good friend's recommendation, I decided to give Crash a go. Even though I've always loved Mario Kart, Crash seemed to be more "pick up and go" kind of gameplay, more accessible and geared towards immediate fun while Mario Kart seems like it has a steeper learning curve. I think that for these kind of non-simulation racing games, having a more arcade gameplay is actually a plus, and I've been really enjoying Crash Team Racing! :BSCARF: :TU:

I think it’s a good choice. Mario Kart on switch is pretty much the same game as on the Wii U. Complete money grabber.
Saying that. CTR Nitro is pretty much the same as CTR.
I was really hoping they would have made a new F-zero game (not F-Zero99) that plays like F-Zero GX on GameCube. I don’t think there’s any chance now at this late stage in the switch lifespan. A real shame.

I couldn't be more excited!! Coming soon to all platforms and PC, will probably get either the PC or the Switch version!! :BSCARF:

I absolutely love how it retains the classic gaming elements!!

Looks beautifull. Shame i am too old for those games that everyone is shooting you a bullet from everywhere on screen :P

If you even navigate the rigid Switch Nintendo eShop, there are often discounts below 9€ for old games. I grabbed Metal Slug 3 for about 3€ the other day, and a football game for 2€ (which is almost unplayable, or at 2000 levels) :D

I always sceptical about third party Kart games on Switch. Mario Kart is very pollished, despite being a "remaster" of WiiU port and i love it. It is not a coinsidence that it's the Top Seller of Switch since the begining of the console's lifespan.

I assume Sonic Team Racing is also good, since SEGA is almost second party to Nintendo. Haven't played it yet on Switch.

But for the third party Kart Racing games my experienced is not so good. I own Spongebob , Nickelodeon Kart Racers IIRC and another one, which are very bad optimized for Switch.

I hope Crash TR is better developed on Switch.

Crash team racing goes all the way back to the ps1 days, so it’s not like they are a beginner at making kart games. I’ve not played the switch version but the ps1 version was excellent from the get go!

who’s getting one?

I pre-ordered mine and coming on launch.
TBH though very disappointed with it - Nothing but a few game upgrades and not many new titles.

Price of the console is exactly as expected but the cost of the games are a joke £80 for a game..
The switch games are bang on at £35 as the Switch is a family fun second console.

The only thing is waiting to see how much the console is in the US as online with the current tariffs the console should be $660.

Wake me up in a few years when it's £175. I'm not paying any more than this and certainly I'm not throwing £80 or whatever for games mostly targeted for kids/family entertainment. And this on top for other family entertainment I'm paying already. I also got the first Switch some years after the release at the same price I mentioned.
Also, it's not only about family entertainment, it's about daily/monthly expenses. Having a decent salary doesn't mean you need to turn into a consumption machine. I disagree fundamentally with these crazy prices and I'm not going to play their "game" until I feel it's reasonable to do so within my terms and my family needs.

I think this is the most rational and level headed take I've read so far.

To my knowledge - which is pretty low - Nintendo usually never lower their prices.

Their loss then. I got the first one on offer from Amazon several years after the official release. I'm certainly not paying £80 for a Mario Kart game, it's out of the question. Would you pay £180 for GTA VI? If a Mario Kart game is £80 then a £180 for a new GTA sounds right doesn't it? These prices are shocking. This is the medieval age of economics.

We own the Switch 1 and that's enough for a few rounds of Mario Kart or Mario Party with the family. Every now and then my daughter plays a few other Mario titles, Kirby, Animal Crossing, etc., but that's it.

There's no way I'm going to spend as much on the Switch 2 as I did on my Xbox Series X. Apart from the completely overpriced games, which, as is typical for Nintendo, always remain stable in price.

But it's funny that they now use an LCD display again, just so that they can launch an OLED version in two years.

The price increase is actually something I expect most gaming companies to do at one point. It is more a wonder that games have remained at 70 dollars for such a long time given how creating games is more and more expensive and also developer salaries are rising.

So I think Nintendo is actually just being honest in the price, other companies try to do this by early access bonuses or extra dlc contents/Special Editions but realistically this is the standard price a quality AAA game would cost nowadays.

Now if that will work for them we will see, I will get one when it comes out since Handheld gaming fits me best in hectic days.

I know it's not the same, but to be honest I'd rather get something like an Odin 2 Portal which is about the same price and roughly similar specs but with the flexiblity of Android or Linux. There's a whole community getting Switch games and previous consoles running on these things, I watched a video the other day saying they've almost got some PS3 games running now, mental
