Moggi tapes - Italian Football Scandal

Re: Italian clubs let off the hook

If they let them off just because they won the World Cup, then that would be as bad as the crime itself.

Surely it is a kind of bribery in itself to say that to win the World cup the clubs are let off and makes the Italian game further corrupt?

You're reaching. It wouldnt be bribery, it'd be an incentive to do well, rather like the bonuses players receive on making each round. Unless you thought they all play international matches just out of national pride?

I know where this rumour is coming from. Buffon is supposed to have suggested that: amnesty if Italy wins the World Cup.
Good goal keeper but not the brigthest kid in town.
.

Not entirely true actually. Buffon is not the one to have suggested it, the amnesty idea came from the minister of sports as well as from the minister of justice.

Buffon is leaving Juventus either way tough.

Yes Don, the verdict is postponed.
I read somewhere that it was Buffon who suggested amnesty if the WC was won...but of course i only repeat a source (don't even remember which one)...so you could be right.

Wasnt the verdict supposed to be announced already?

Im absolutely shittin bricks. Been refreshing sites every 5mins.

lol. Ease up boys.
Do you really expect a "veredict"?
Do you really expect Italy, the kings of corruption in europe (and boy, do we try hard to catch up with them here in Portugal!) to really apply justice in this case and kill their Serie A for good after the finantial problems already in existence?

Yeah.. right. They will make up some crap to get the involved clubs off the hook. That's for sure.

I damn sure hope you're right! :D

I'm willing to bet money on this :).
Italians will make up something to clear Juve out. I'm positive. Come on, this is the country which had a porno star as member of parlament, showing her boobs on official sessions. These guys rule! :)

Yeah Mauras, you're completely wrong. Read into the subject before you comment please..

Everyone who was charged has been found guilty and the sentence will probably announced late friday or early saturday.

Besides Uefa has declared that italy will have no team in europe, if Italy grant amnesty and Borelli has declared no amnesty will be given.

Hmm.. I'm not saying ppl weren't found guilty Domenico. What I say is that italians have the creativity to invent something to get them off the hook :)

I don't think the following is what you meant, but yes the wrong people will get off the hook and the wrong ones will be punished with this rushed investigation and due to the poor FIGC handling. The players, the fans and the shareholders will be heavily punished for something they did not bargain for. While the culprits such as Moggi will get away easily; he steps down and might be banned from football for a couple of years. That while his pockets are now cash-filled and the damage has already been done. If anything this won't prevent any further cheating, it will only ask for more Moggi's in the future.
The club is sent down to the lower division while the Moggi's get away with it..

I'm not saying the club(s) shouldn't be punished, but this is completely the wrong way to go about it. A real court and full scale investigation should've been done and not one by a sportscommision like the FIGC, who indeed Mauras, have often bended the rules and have laws that benefit noone.

Moggi should be locked up Domenico, but clubs also have to pay (alhtough I understand your point).

If clubs don't pay this moments they will continuously recurr to such action to reach their goals.

The question here was: was Moggi acting alone and secretly or did the rest of Juventus board know about his handling? I doubt he was alone or that no one knew about it.

Gazzetta predicts that Lazio, Juve and Fiorentina will go to Serie B with different point penalties. Milan is predicted to be in A but removed from CL seeing as they were the least involved in the scandal.

The sentence will be excecuted immediately, but the parties can still appeal 'till the 25th. I'm thinking an appeal would only be a formality though.

hmm they are delaying it again. Me things some dodgy stuff is happening! :D

waiting for the bank to open on monday to see if berlusconi's cheque clears or bounces ;)

Juventus relegated to Serie B with a 30 point handicap.
Fiorentina relegated to Serie B with a 12 point handicap.
Lazio relegated in Serie B with a 7 point handicap.
Milan stay in Serie 15 point handicap.

No European football for any of the clubs next season also.

Well it is clear that the guilty have been punished and for Milan to win the Scudetto would take a very big ask next season.
