Microsoft Xbox

Still looking forward to State of Decay 3 but that seems to have been in development hell for a long time...

Edit: Oh wow! I'd missed that there was actually a gameplay reveal finally! Checking it out now...

Don't know if I mentioned this before but I've been having a good time after setting up Steam games on the Xbox.
I've been playing my steam games from my PC in another room on the couch with the console. Even adding non-steam games worked (although it can get wonky if there is a launcher pop up).

Just downloaded Sunshine/Apollo & Moonlight on the PC and Xbox respectively and Steam games play pretty good on my xbox as it launches on Steam big picture mode on the console so I can control the UI with the controller.

If you want to try steam games on xbox you can def give it a try, maybe not super competitive 240fps games but still pretty good

I play eFootball on PC via Xbox (Microsoft Store/Xbox app). After playing on Steam for about 2 years, I switched to Xbox. Even though my FPS settings and V-Sync settings are the same, the gameplay doesn’t feel as smooth or as fast as it did on Steam. What could be the reason for this?

"Effective August 1, 2026, we will be updating prices worldwide. The price of XBOX consoles will increase by US$100 for 512 GB models and US$150 for 1 TB models. We will also be sunsetting our 2 TB model.

Last October, we increased XBOX console price by $20-$70 in the U.S. We hoped another price increase would not be necessary, and we have spent the last several months working with suppliers on options. Unfortunately, console storage and memory prices have increased by more than 2.5x and we expect another doubling by the fall of 2027. The entire consumer electronics industry is struggling with the current components crisis, but the effects are particularly hard on consoles."

This does not look very good for any console PC in the next 3-4 years. Crazy my Xbox is an appreciating asset 5 years after purchase

Xbox have literally blamed part of their troubles on the rise of AI - which is correct, but one of the main perps there are Microsoft themselves 🤔

XBox are laying off so many people at once they were actually reporting it on the radio news here in Iceland

3200 employees and 4 studios leaving the Xbox brand and under new management (returning to being independent studios),
Microsoft invested heavy to try and get the Xbox brand to be the number 1 for gaming and now paying the price for not being able to get close to Sony.

Cheers, I never thought of this as an option. I recently tried playing Steam from my PC just through the Steam app on my TV, but that was kind of crap.

I then tried just using Sunshine and Moonlight, I think that was better, but not sure, as only tried quick game. I was even thinking of buying long HDMI optic cable and long USB to hardwire it, but now I'll try your suggestion.

Not sure on the numbers but seems to me releasing all their recent games on both Xbox and PC seems a great way to weaken the Xbox brand, are there even such a thing as Xbox exclusives anymore? If there's no exclusives what is even the point of buying the console? I guess GTA6 for some but personally I'll just wait for the PC version however long that takes.

All Xbox games have been PC for a while now and started bringing to PS5 in the last year.
Although not released at the same time it is only months apart.

There is zero reason to buy an Xbox today, as all the games will eventually come to the PS5.

I have bought GTA 6 for PS5 but will also get the PC version on release as GTA 5 is a complete different/better experience with mods.

Gears of War e-Day is not coming to PS5 as X-Box are moving back to exclusives, similarily Sony is backing out to releasing PS5 games on PC.
Will Xbox have manpower left to actually make exclusive games that enough people are interested in to buy a console, not so sure about that one.

Gears of War isn't going to sell consoles though.
The only thing which would of sold consoles, if Xbox made CoD exclusive to Xbox.

The PS5 games on PC was announced after Microsoft said the next Xbox will be like a Steam Machine and run of Windows, so people could play Steam games and other launches.

Long HDMI cable isn't an option for me. You really dont have a lot of options to tinker with as the default ones are ok. just make sure you get the bitrate on what works and the resolution as well. Yesterday I was able to get an hour session and it was pretty good with no lag.
Also, I moved from sunshine to Vibepollo (fork of sunshine), works as a virtual display so when you connect the monitor where your PC is goes to sleep and has other small improvements.
It helped me to connect the PC (host) wired as it got rid of the minimal lag I had.
Also, I intalled moonlight on my smart TV in the other room and works just as well. So now I have access to it in all 3 rooms. Let me know if it works for you.

Was the only reason to own a console, its exclusives? Even though I'm not interested in PS or Xbox exclusives I can see from a business standpoint how the decision hurt xbox. However, as a consumer, one of the things I really like about xbox ecosystem is having access to games in different platforms. I will always go for a Play Anywhere title when I can as it gives me dual ownership in both PC and console. I hope they can still provide this and the xcloud versions of games that you can play without having to be sitting with your console on.
