If you post your xbox 360 on ebay for big profit I'd be surprised if at the back of your mind you don't question your actions at least slightly...
I know I would question them, and yet my Mrs (to be) would not and told me to order 3 from Spain for this purpose (I didn't but thought about it) and my mate who is a millionaire (inherited) would for sure and probably will!
Maybe its about values that as a child you were taught consciously or not...

Flawless, you can put a reserve price on eBay for like a fiver, which means that's all the seller would lose should his desired minimum not be met. And do you honestly think that over this period there's any chance a 360 wouldn't sell for a profit, even if it's just a small one?

Siroco, you're putting your head in the sand with this one I'm afraid, it's not simply about having the right to pay the inflated price or not but I'm not going to repeat myself again.

That black 360 looks quite sharp.

Unfortunately, I don't think buying things like tickets in bulk and selling it off at extortionate is illegal - but it should be.

I don't understand why companies/stores don't place realistic limits on purchasing (i.e. max 2 per customer.

The companies are as much to blame as the people selling on eBay tbh.

I looked around at Comet today but I was told that there are people who have paid for the console and still havent recieved it, so my chances of getting one are very low. Atleast at Comet, that is.
I had a few goes on the display unit there. I enjoyed it but I couldnt really see a game there that I wouldnt get bored of in about 2 days max. Every launch title seems to be like a show of the consoles power rather than the gameplay and that novelty of having great graphics doesnt last that long.
I still want one cuz I know I will want one in the future. But a part of me wants to wait for the black version.

somehow i feel the same.you stupid guys made me want one of those.:( :lol: but i think i'll wait.too much trouble getting one right now.

i ordered mine today - will be here on thursday. got from comet. they went on sale at 10.00 am this morning - online only

jonboyo, how do you define "big profit"? Can I sell my 360 for a $10 profit. $50, $100 profit? ;) What's that service worth?

Ebay is the only thing that's right about this whole crazy situation. It's the one place that one is guaranteed to get a console. Online commerce at its finest.

It should also teach people valuable life lessons:
(1) don't buy into all the hype
(2) don't pay over-inflated prices for items that are luxuries, not necessities - you can live without it
(3) control your impulses - don't buy things you can't afford.
(4) patience - shit, consoles will be readily available in a matter of weeks...etc., etc.

How very easy for our members to claim some kind of moral superiority in this matter by claiming they'd never dare sell anything for an "unfair profit." The shit don't stink of our members calling for the jailing of ticket scalpers and ebay merchants.

Jonboyo, you're a PES patching legend, who was asking others to pull strings for you in the event they had access to a spare console. Is that fair, considering you'd theoretically be taking a console away from someone else (in ClassicD's opinion)?

I take the side of your wife to be in this matter -- buy up several consoles, keep one for yourself, and sell the others at a "small profit"

I'll get my console in January - not a penny over MSRP.

Except they could afford it if it was being sold for what it's meant to be sold for, and if greedy fuckers hadn't bought them purely to rip people off on.

I didn't see this but I take Jonboyo has asked anyone who bought more than one console if they could sell it to him? It's up to Jonboyo how much he pays for the console in this case, he's not to blame - the person selling it to Jonboyo for an inflated price is wrong. Jonboyo wouldn't be taking a console away from anyone it's the person selling it to him who would be, and that's assuming that person sells it for more than the RRP which I doubt would be the case if it was someone on here who knew him in the first place.

The rule in a majority of U.S. retailers was 1 console per customer. No exceptions.

Follow your logic to its end -

If Jonboyo pays someone for their "extra" console, he's "enabling" that greedy fucker who has in fact taken a console away from a parent who might have lawfully purchased the console for their children. He's just as "guilty" as the greedy fucker...

Of course, none of this is true in the least, and Jonboyo deserves a console for his contribution to the community.

If anyone has access to an extra one, let him know.

I'll have to take your word for the 1 per customer thing, though I have seen a shitload of people say they bought more than one so I would doubt the 'majority' stat you've seemingly pulled out of thin air.

And if Jonboyo pays RRP for a console (plus any costs the buyer has had to pay like shipping it to him), which I'm sure he was hoping to do, then he's as entitled to his machine as anyone else who wants one. And if he didn't buy it from the person who bought extra, there would be someone else who would - I believe you called it supply and demand, what I'm saying is there'd be no demand if folk weren't supplying.

I'm done anyway, I've made it clear I think it's morally wrong and you've made it clear you don't have a problem with it, fair enough.

Just rang ten local retailers, from Comet to Currys to Dixons to Gamestation to Virgin, and they've all told me "no pre-order, no XBOX 360 til after Christmas"... Three of them actually told me "your best bet's eBay", which isn't a lot of help really :(

Oh why can't I make my mind up about consoles until they're released :(

Edit: According to this you can use pretty much any hard drive with the XBOX 360. If that's the case, can I get the Core system and use a spare hard drive of mine to play original XBOX games without the need for an "official" XBOX 360 hard drive? Or is that not possible?

Well spotted, upon ordering it says "should be dispatched within 3 days". Just ordered one :) Gameplay don't take anything from your account until it's dispatched anyway so if I get any emails saying it'll be after Christmas I can always cancel.

Anyone by any small chance have an advanced RGB Scart they would like to sell?!

I would consider a trade for my Official VGA Cable. As we know, both of these items are harder to source than hens' teeth

If your desperate enough, I say get one. Thats what I have done, and I'm so happy I did. I don't think I could have managed waiting.

I've since upgraded mine so its a premium now (minus the headset which I should have soon, and the remote).

Yeah I did the same, fuck waiting.

Got my Core + HDD + extra wireless on day 1. Then the VGA Cable for HD output and will be getting my remote soon ish to complete the pack. Plus the core has a white tray which looks nicer. Thats the one plus of the Core, lol.

Old Live headsets work by the way chaps, almost identical but you dont have a mute button. The sound is louder on the old one's which is a good thing.
