Thanks for that.I forgot to say my nephews 360 has gone off to be repaired because of the RROD
Let's have a look at the decent games coming out over the next 30 days shall we?
Fable 2 [24/10]
Far Cry 2 [24/10]
Fallout 3 [31/10]
James Bond 007 Quantum of Solace [31/10] (getting good reviews)
Crash Bandicoot [31/10] (I love the Crash Bandicoots)
Little Big Planet [05/11] (PS3 only)
Gears of War 2 [07/11]
Call of Duty World At War [14/11]
Guitar Hero World Tour [14/11]
Mirrors Edge [14/11]
Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 [14/11]
That's excluding games that look like they might be good, such as "Need For Speed Undercover" (which is going back to the good old days of NFS, with police chases), "This Is Vegas" and SOCOM (which I've already pre-ordered for the headset). That's 10x£40 (£400) plus Guitar Hero and the equipment for £150. Including my SOCOM pre-order that's nearly £600.
I don't think Midnight Club gets a look-in amongst all that. In other news, what's the quickest easiest non-painful way to get £600? I think the PS3's going to have to go, that's a good start...
That reminds me, my nephew's 360 has got the RROD but it's a certain kind of RROD (two rings instead of three I THINK) where the MS guys are saying "to fix that you'd have to pay £60" or whatever their repair fee is now. I told him to wrap a towel around the bastard to get it to three rings, but it's not having it.
What's his best option? I feel sorry for the kid, he doesn't want to shell out £60 but it's obviously cheaper to do that than buy a new one. And you get some kind of repair warranty for a few years with the £60 don't you?
Doubt my Gamertag will be matherto this time because it'll probably still be registered and you've gotta pay to get it back haven't you?
Done some research and i know its not the av cable so it must beOne light of the Ring of Light on the front of your Xbox 360 console flashes red, and you receive an error code and message: "E74 System Error. Contact Xbox Customer Support"
The scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU
You love pushing Consumer Direct don't you?How old is it, where did he buy it from? He still has the sale of goods act on his side with the people he bought it from unless MS have already swapped it in the past?
Phone Consumer Direct for advice, details here: http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk
Do that to at least see where you stand before paying out.
Yeahhh.To get a 360 or not get a 360...that is the question.
Been offered a new core package for £90 and I'm selling my Wii this weekend![]()
Xbox 360 load time comparison: DVD vs. hard drive
http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/10/31/nxe-loading-time-comparison/
Microsoft claims that the New Xbox Experience — that big dashboard upgrade being pushed to all 360 owners on November 19 — will allow your favorite Xbox 360 games to load more quickly. To enjoy that benefit, a gamer will have to install their disc-based games onto their 360’s hard drive.
People keep asking me if doing the installation is worth the trouble. Are loading times that much better?
I tested Microsoft’s claim on four games, using my NXE-enabled 360. Above, you can watch the initial loading for “Grand Theft Auto IV,” DVD vs Hard Drive. After the jump, check out loading comparisons for “Fable II” and “Gears of War.”
(Videos not viewable by users logging in from Canada or the U.K.)
In all cases, I spammed the A button of my controller as soon as the game started loading, so you’re seeing my fastest attempts to get from the new dashboard to the new games.
Each of the games took about 11 minutes to install and required between 6.6 and 6.8GB. It shaved off about nine to 15 seconds off the initial load times.Think it’s worth it?
any idea what would be my best option to pick up the 120gb hdd? i mean best = cheapest.![]()
Cheapest =
- Buy WD BEVS 120gb HDD off Ebay, clone as official MS 120gb HDD and internalise into your 360.
Cheapest that doesn't invalidate your 360's warranty (not a concern for you) =
- Buy 2nd hand official MS 20gb HDD off Ebay
- Buy WD BEVS 120gb HDD off Ebay
- Clone the WD BEVS 120GB HDD as official MS 120gb HDD and put it into the official MS HDD casing.
i've read that i can only clone 20gb to 20 gb and 120gb to 120?
that's why i avoided to get a 3rd party wd or something hdd so far. but if it possible to clone with my 20gb to 120? or maybe some user made files from the net?![]()
