Microsoft Xbox 360

I've done it before (twice) when mine was getting dirty disc errors playing brand new games, no way was I going to keep either of them when I'd be in the middle of a game of Forza and then it would just quit out saying "the disc is dirty". I just told them it had the RROD, all they did was lift the 360 out of the box, took the faceplate off and checked for the warranty seal, made sure everything needed was in the box and then swapped it for a new one.

you're lucky there, i had 2 real rods and both times just got a refurbished box home. works now since march, but for how long?

Bill has left the building... Apparently he's now quit MS and will give all of his money to his wife's foundation, leaving none for his kids.

Fair enough, and I know his wife came up with the name "Microsoft" but it must be galling for his kids...

I'm sure his kids will get some money some way or another. Why would he not give his kids any money it doesn't make sense?

He said he wanted his kids to earn their money and work for it themselves basically.

Nice moral aptitude lessons, although perhaps he should keep out the part about buying people's copyrights for a pittance by saying "sell the rights to us for this amount or we'll just copy what you did and use it ourselves"........

Contrary to what I thought before, over here in Thailand the 360 out sells the PS3 by miles!!! Its not even 2:1, its like 10:1. The simple reason is that the 360 is moddable therefore everyone's got one. Even in Singapore and Malaysia - everyone's got a 360. Some game stores over here don't even sell a PS3. The Wii also outsells the PS3 by miles! Really am surprised, as I thought Sony would have a strong base, since the PS1 and 2 were so popular (also moddable).

moddable has it hackable? atm you cant hack the ps3 and play pirated copies as far as i know but with the 360 you can use a modchip. could explain why is popular in Thailand

From my time in Singapore I'd say that there's still far more PS3's than 360's, far more interest in all aspects of the PS3 compared to 360, I was quite shocked when I arrived and joined some Singapore gaming forums and there was almost no activity regarding the 360, slowly improved in the last 6 months, especially towards the release of GTA.

60GB Xbox 360 for end of July?

News by Rob Purchese
Today 11:31
Microsoft may be planning to unveil a 60GB Xbox 360 at its E3 press conference next week.

That's according to an intercepted letter which appears to be from the platform holder to retailers GameStop and Blockbuster, posted on 1UP.

It states Microsoft is launching this bigger model later in the month, and plans to phase out the existing 20GB unit.

Separate 60GB hard drives will cost USD 100 (GBP 50 / EUR 64) and likely go sale in early November, we're told, and also result in a price drop for the 120GB storage unit from USD 179 to USD 149 (GBP 76 / EUR 96).

Microsoft US PR adopted the usual "cannot comment on rumours" stance, suggesting we all wait until next week for lots of "exciting news" on how it will "innovate next".

Microsoft will be giving its E3 press conference on Monday at 6.30 pm UK time. We will be bringing you live text updates of everything that happens as it happens.

Mass Effect is quality, definately worth getting.

PGR is quite different to Forza. PGR is arcade while Forza is a sim. I'd go with PGR4 instead of 3 tho.

Out of the two driving games, I'd choose Forza 2.

PGR is brilliant online what with Cat and Mouse and Bulldog modes as well as the usual races

Forza is too realistic for my liking and the tracks are boring

pgr is a brilliant arcade game
forza is a brilliant simulation

all done to your driving style preferences...i enjoyed both games a lot.

It's quite shocking that that's the reason why the 360 outsells the PS3 to be honest. People with modded consoles should be shot IMO.

Something should've been done about Asia's modding community ages ago.

If they stopped modding over here, no one would buy a 360. They'd all just get the Wii which is the cheapest solution. I think Microsoft don't mind too much since they get all the money from the sold consoles, its the developers who would be pissed off.

oh no they mind... but not much they can do about it

Microsoft intends to cut the price of Xbox 360 in the near future, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Apparently "sources familiar with the matter" reckon the US price of the 20GB console will drop from USD 349 to USD 299. Adverts are expected to show up in this Sunday's newspapers.

The price cut is likely to be announced at Microsoft's E3 press conference on Monday.

Are you committing a crime even if you own the original game that you paid for?

no. But you cant honestly tell me that people are modding there xboxes, and not being able to get on live so they can back up there games... i call bullshit
