Microsoft Xbox 360

Well the first three are from way back in time when you were a nipper and people like me used computers with 8 bit graphics ;)

There is a VGA remake of the first one which looks a bit better http://free-game-downloads.mosw.com...ture/games_p_r/police_quest_1_vga_remake.html

You'd prolly be better off jumping straight to the 4th one if you can still find it ;)

Haha I was seven when the first PQ came out! I remember going to my mates who had a PQ game (I was in junior school so it was probably PQ1, and I think the copy protection had something to do with a photo-shoot and identifying the face? Or was it the old "Page 4, 6th sentence, 10th word" jobbie?

IIRC it was some kind of grid system, game would ask for the word on row 12 line 46 or something, the grid was made with background colours of various grey shades, I guess to stop it from being photocopied, didn't work though, my mate and I went halves on each police quest game as it came out and alternated as to who kept the original :)

US, June 10, 2008 - Square Enix took the stage at a Microsoft press conference focused on RPGs in Japan today to announce that Xbox 360 will be the first system to receive The Last Remnant. The game will arrive this winter with a simultaneous release in Japan, North America and Europe. The Last Remnant will ship later for PlayStation 3.

US, June 10, 2008 - At a press conference held by Microsoft in Japan, Square Enix and Microsoft announced that the next Star Ocean game will be released on Xbox 360 in 2009. The game, officially titled Star Ocean: The Last Hope, is in a playable state right now and will have a science fiction feel to it. Though a trailer for the game presented by Yoshinori Yamagishi, producer of the game, ended with the words "for Xbox 360," there was no mention of the title being exclusive to the system.

US, June 10, 2008 - Star Ocean 4 was announced today as being in development for the Xbox 360. But as we specified during our blog from Microsoft's big RPG press conference in Japan, the game wasn't strictly referred to as an Xbox 360 exclusive title.

So is the game coming to the PS3 as well?

Square Enix producer Yoshinori Yamagishi cleared things up during a roundtable interview session that followed the press conference. Asked if the game is 360-only, he said, "We cannot announce anything on that. We can say that it will be released first [on the Xbox 360]. Whether we'll release it on the PS3 is undecided. We may release it, we may not."

Looks like, as with Last Remnant, 360 owners get this Square Enix epic first, but PS3 owners may get their own version in the future as well!

I think I will be getting my Xbox 360 in just over a weeks time, so are there any games you recommend for me?

It depends on what sort of games you're into. I quite enjoyed these though:

Dead Rising
Crackdown
Saints Row
FIFA 08
Assassin's Creed
GTA IV
Bioshock
The Darkness
GR:AW 2
Call Of Duty 4

(I know I'm a day late, but who's keeping check?;)))

VGA is quality. Go to AVForums and see if anyone has a cable there. You missed out, I'd have sold you my official VGA cable for £8 if you has a 360 a few weeks ago.

Will pick one next month I reckon.

4 days in and my xbox controller RT button is now not working correctly. Only noticed on FIFA 08 when I was skipping through the formation set up.

That'll be why online folk seem to run faster than me.

I hope this is not a sign of things to come as new 360 owner.

Cheers mateys.

Time for DJ to get flamed ;)

I used a VGA Cable yesterday (the official MS one) and the picture was softer than that of the HDMI Cable.... Almost as if I had lost some Picture Definition somewhere!

Im with you

VGA wasn't good at all for me, component was alot better and i aint got a HDMI 360 so cant test that

all depends on the tv, some are better than others with a particular signal

i use hdmi so i don't have to worry..

but the rule of thumb is hdmi and vga > than component ( but the tv is also a factor)

hdmi should be a little sharper than vga but some might not notice the diff

Component was worse than VGA on our 50" HD Plasma.. ive been relegated to the spare room with a Sharp 42" LCD HDTV....

component is a kind of analogue signal

Component video is a video signal that has been split into two or more components. In popular use, it refers to a type of analog video information that is transmitted or stored as three separate signals. Component video can be contrasted with composite video (NTSC, PAL or SECAM) in which all the video information is combined into a single line-level signal. Like composite, component video cables do not carry audio.

where as hdmi and vga is digital
