Microsoft Xbox 360

Burnout is pretty good, a tad too fast for my liking though :)

Assassin's Creed is decent, only buy it cheap though, certainly not worth £40.

Orange Box is definately worth picking up, without a doubt.

Vegas 2 is one of the best games of this generation for me, a definate purchase.
 
I reccomend:

FIFA 08 (As Matt said, DO NOT buy PES 2008, it is awful!!!)
skate
GTA IV
Forza Motorsport 2 (If you are a racing fan, could be boring if you are not)
GRID (If you want an arcadey racing game, not for hardcore fans of racing or people who want a simulation game)
Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Call of Duty 4
Orange Box

A few good games are better than a load of crap ones though, I used to have loads of PC games but only ever played PES, FM and GTA most of the time. Now I have a console I make sure I only buy good games :).
 
The games I've enjoyed to most on 360 and have made it worth getting so far are:

PGR4
FIFA08
GR:AW
Gears of War
Call of Duty 4

Those are definate buys :) If it's only two games I would get, it would be the two in bold.

Dags what makes Vegas 2 one of the best games of this generation?
 
Thanks for the info, guys. :)) It's gonna be strange playing on the Xbox 360, since my previous consoles were PS2 and PS1. But I definitely need a change now. PS2 has got very stale. I was always planning on getting a PS3 but I came across the advantages of the 360, especially Xbox Live.

The slower pace and the cover system mainly. I'm not one for reviews so I'm not going into all kinds, but those two points sum it up for me.

Mainly the slower pace, far better than charging around a field packed up with people everywhere you look just spraying bullets at the ten people in front of you.

i agree to some extent. vegas2 is better then most console fps games including cod4 which didn't:SS feel right in a joypad TBH.
 
yeah the cover system is great but when you talk about camping there is no bigger camping game than Vegas 2 due to the cover system

I had a PS1 and PS2 only as well, and the transition to XBox360 controller was easy :))
 
Me and my brother played PS1 + PS2 our whole lives and now we both have a 360. It isn't hard to get use to it, it'll take about 5 minutes.

Camping is realistic, have you ever been paintballing? Most people camp, and it's a legitimate method.

(I know you will reply saying you go paintball every week, own your own gun and can shoot 20 people blindfolded with 2 shots)

Im referring to Dags who hates people camping yet loves Vegas 2

and i never said it wasnt realistic but was is unrealistic is the fact you can see around walls without poking out, can you do that at paintball?

I dont like camping but I'd much rather play a game with camping than dart around like a fly amongst other flies all buzzing about with bullets flying everywhere. I know people like all of the warzone-type gameplay but I prefer the SWAT-type gameplay, always have done.
 
i liked the first SWAT game where you took out the guy who had been sniping at cars on the freeway and his wife would get in the way

Hi DagsJT,

I am playing FIFA 08 on my newly purchased xbox, and notice that when I play, the names above the players head in game are not as HD as I would expect them.

Do any of you guys reckon the VGA cable fixes this? I am currently using the component cable supplied with the xbox plugged into my LCD HD ready TV, not a PC monitor.

Just wondering if I should fork out the 20 quid. Does it make a BIG difference?

VGA is quality. Go to AVForums and see if anyone has a cable there. You missed out, I'd have sold you my official VGA cable for £8 if you has a 360 a few weeks ago.
 
I use the official VGA cable and it is great. I had 3rd Party VGA cable before that and the difference is so minimal.

So any of you guys got Ninja Gaiden 2. My copy arrived yesterday and played 1st chapter after the footy. Easier than the orignal game but still loads of fun!!

The first SWAT game was an interactive movie (it followed Police Quest 4 which sadly was the last adventure game in the series), second one was an isometric strategy game, you probably mean SWAT 3?

Something I never got around to playing for some reason. I played a lot of adventure games when I was younger but never played Police Quest :(

I might find them and fire up DosBOX :)
