Microsoft Xbox 360

Just a note to anyone who rents games from Blockbuster (this applies to all games but I'm not going to spam all the console threads with it)...

I rented a game last week, £5.50 for two nights (so that's £2.75 per night). They now rent games for a WEEK AT A TIME for £5.95 (so that's 85p per night).

One hell of a price drop, and you get the game for a week too. So I've decided to give PES2008 a chance for a week.

EDIT: I won't say too much because I sound like a fanboy at the best of times, but Jesus, how do Konami recover from this? Online play just doesn't work, at least in FIFA it will lag for both so that you both see the same things, in this players disappear and reappear all the time and lag-cheating is rampant. I thought it would have been improved by now but obviously not, it's unbelievable.

But I recommend you all rent it and then try the Euro 08 demo; A) it makes the speed of Euro 2008 seem really slow and absolutely spot-on :D and B) it makes you realise how far games have come in the last few years and appreciate just how good FIFA 08 and Euro 08 really are. No offence to anyone who loves PES2008.

It's the name for Sony's motion-sensor pads.

Left stick up-down = one axis
Left stick left-right = one axis
Right stick up-down = one axis
Right stick left-right = one axis
Tilt forward-backwards = one axis
Tilt left-right = one axis

So the pad has six axes.

Coincidentally SIXAXIS backwards is SIXAXIS, and SIXAXIS upside down is SIXVXIS, which is a clever little move.

No question. It's just a gimmick so far, although I remember someone saying it worked great in a basketball game?

If they utilise it properly, i.e. the angle of the pad determines the angle of your shot in a football game, it would be great - but at the moment I've certainly not seen it do much of use.

I can see it being good if they make a game which relies heavily on using the Six Axis to control it. The problem is what game would that be? I loved the Formula 1 Tilt Steering Idea but it was badly implemented so didnt work well.

Tis good in F1 in particular and Motorstorm. In F1, if you hold it pad quite deep into your hand, it can emulate a steering wheel very well (with R2 and L2 as brake and accel).

It was good in Warhawk too for controlling the planes...

I actually think the accuracy of the Sixaxis is better than the Wiimote...

Paul, they have got it all wrong for F1 in my opinion... its FAR too sensitive and you cannot adjust the settings yourself which is bloody annoying...

Hmmm... maybe you are right about adjusting it, but once you get used to it, I found it really accurate.

Now, if you had a whee.... :D

Forza 2 is amazing, but I have hardly played it at all, Fifa has hardly come out of my 360... :-pp.

Want a cheap Xbox Live sub?
by Tufty McTavish on Fri 11 Apr 2008 18:25 BST
Just the other day I realised that my Xbox Live subscription was probably coming up for renewal in the next month or so. I came across this seller on eBay advertising Thirteen (13) Month UK Xbox Live subscriptions for £23.59. The codes are emailed to you upon payment so there's little or no delay, at least compared to mail order.

Even if your Live sub isn't up for renewal just yet you can still purchase an extension any time you like. The renewal merely gets added onto the end of your existing subscription.

Anyway, the code arrived via email just a few hours after I submitted payment. I redeemed the code directly on Xbox.com via the web interface, allowing me to copy/paste it from one window to another, and my Xbox Live account was immediately updated. Therefore I can happily recommend this seller and his coupons.

So, if I don't enter a new code to extend my subscription Xbox Live will just automatically charge my credit card with £40 for another 12 month subscription?

Well, maybe it has prompted me to renew and I've just said to take it from my credit card?

I read online it keeps taking from your credit card and MS can be real shits (allegedly) about cancelling the automatic renewal, they'll (allegedly) try their utmost to keep charging you, IMO it's better to buy a card from a shop/online store and use one of them each 12 months than let MS have your credit card details.......

Yeah, got my credit card details in there anyway for when I need MS Points...

I checked my Credit Card transactions statements and MS haven't taken anything for renewing my Xbox Live Subscription in the last 6 months, so maybe it runs out soon? I'll have to check tonight.

Well bugger me  My subscription runs out in exactly 7 days! They are now charging £4.99 a month for Xbox Live... :-ll

I will definately be buying one of those 13month codes for £24!!! :DD Thanks a lot Dags.

Don King Presents: Prizefighter new screens

http://uk.media.xbox360.ign.com/media/142/14223231/imgs_1.html

Looking alot like Fight Night 3 but dosnt look like there going to be a Fight night round 4 so this looks like a good replacement. :))

First time i saw this i thought it was another EA boxing game with a new name.

Looks good and it should be as its 2K... but the KO punches are really lacking that 'oomph' that fight night had with the cartoony ripple effects

Why is this 360 only though?

Okay so my component board has gone to pot on my TV. No HDMI but there's a VGA port. I'm too lazy to go through all of the previous posts but are the unofficial VGA cables any good?
