Microsoft Xbox 360

What are some good 2-player Arcade games that can be played on the same console? I've already got Bomberman and Track & Field.

Bankshot Billiards is really good, SmashTV, Robotron, Small Arms, Street Fighter...

And in 3 days... ALL HAIL SWOSSSSSSSSSSSS :)

Cannot wait, absolutely cannot wait. I've been playing it on the PC every night for a week, it's better than FM08, it's better than PES2008, and it has a manager mode with options I've been waiting to see in PES/FIFA for years upon years.

Playing it online should be brilliant. I really hope there's no lag issues or anything.

what game you talking about jack?

SWOS, aka Sensible World Of Soccer :)

I think it's going to be one of those games, either you think "it's ten years old and you can only pass/kick/head, what a load of crap", or you think "it's fun, you can do a season in an hour, it's fun, you can do online tournaments with your mates (which you can't do in PES or FIFA, bar a league in FIFA), and it's fun".

I just can't wait to do an online FA Cup and an online Champions League.

The only downside is A) the names are going to be faked up (there is an editor but there's more leagues and teams than in Football Manager, so it would take a long time to fix everything), and B) it's not been tested online yet, SWOS plays faster than pinball on ice on speed and if there's any lag it will totally ruin it. But even then you've got the excellent manager mode offline. It's so much fun whizzing through a season a day, buying, selling and moving jobs all the time. With full league structures, all the proper promotion/relegation, all the proper cup competitions, and job movement, it's got more features than PES has now, and that pisses me off so much.

I hope Seabass sees this and realises that other games manage to have unlicensed lower leagues, and unlicensed Belgian/Portuguese/Scottish/You Name It leagues. I would honestly rather play this than PES, until they get their act together. (Well, I mean it says it all that PES2008 lasted me a rental of two days, whereas I've been playing this on and off for ten years and solidly for the last week.)

:applause: well said. This game is still good even now. Has the deepest manager mode ive played. Konami need a HUGE kick up the arse this coming year.

Dont think its been officially mentioned, but I'm sure I read Codies said that ALL modes have online play. Imagine online Manager Mode! Making offers for players etc...

If its got that in, then it will surely be hailed as the greatest Next-Gen football game?!

It would be but surely that's not possible seeing as it wasn't even possible in the original... All they've done for online play is coded the roles of "other players" to be controlled by the online players, in manager mode there has only ever been one player allowed so I think you're getting your hopes up there.

There is actually a hack where you can have a two-player manager mode on the PC version, but it crashes at the end of one season...

I can't see online manager mode working, just too many teams and too awkward. Everyone would have to play the same week at the same time due to games/signings being played week-by-week as opposed to game-by-game.

Ah... just go back to playing we6fe with full premiership and championship teams and 3 divisions. Amazing.

SWOS's career mode > FIFA 08's career mode > WE6FE's career mode

I went back to SWOS and I was stuck into it for a week solid. I went back to WE6FE and got bored after a day, the gameplay isn't that great compared to FIFA 08, you can't switch jobs, there's not enough to do for me. Three leagues is great but there's no lower league sides in the game anyway unless you've got a patch.

A agree Jack. The career mode is better than any of football game ... well non-management specific anyway.

Two more days :) I'm a bit gutted Liverpool play Chelsea on Wednesday night, I wanted to spend the night on SWOS :(

We up for some online play then?

Be great if they ever could do 5 v 5 Sensi :-)

Don't go starting a SWOS online league until Saturday night! Got a busy few days and I don't want to miss out :)

In-game advertising is showing already. A blog I read has a guy saying he's just played Rainbow 6 Vegas (bearing in mind how old this game is) and one of the billboards in the game advertised Assassins Creed.

Anyone else think GripShift looks good? I thought Trackmania was good so I'm sure I like this. I'll be buying both SWOS and Gripshift this Wednesday :)

Edit: Just seen GripShift is out already and I already have the trial! I'm off to play :)

I actually think thats pretty cool. If its used properly its a good way to keep a game contempory. I was worried ingame ads would work as small message bars that came into a corner from time to time or a "billboard" during a loading sequance. Making it into the gameworld sounds really good.

There were adverts in PGR3 released with the 360 on signs etc if I remember correctly.

Those wouldn't have been "live" ad's though? These are ad-boards that are "live" and can be updated to whatever they want to at the time, very surreal.

Microsoft make it unnecessarily difficult to upgrade from an Xbox 360 to the Elite, says Bill Thompson.

Pretty interesting read :)

He's just an anrgy tool, ;) the Elite does give you alot more for your buck, you get the HDMI cable and Audio splitter which is 35 quid supposedly and the 6 times bigger HDD. I knew the guy in Game I bought mine from, and he offered his regular customners the use of the said cable, it prob should of been in the box, but then new owners of an Elite would of been, WTF is this for? The whole clearing the HDD is due to the fact I guess MS thought you wouldnt be needing it again, thus wipe it to sell on, I dont think it's due to copyrighting, just buy a Memory card to shift saves, ;) yes more money, but I think he is just Grumpy Old Man syndrome.

I can understand his frustration actually. I bought a core version with a mc and then about a year later i bought a 20gb hdd for demo's and stuff. Now most of the gamesaves tranfered without problem, however a game like forza2 wont allow you to copy/move anything or even use a different save device for the photomode meaning that if i want to use my hdd for forza stuff I would have to restart the whole game and work my way up again. I get that they wont allow you to "copy" gamesaves with the auctionhouse and stuff, but surely you should be able to "move" it to another memory device? And thats just a game save, i would be even more pissed off if i had all the stuff and problems he is having just to upgrade to an elite.

Halo 3 Purchased by 52pct of Xbox 360 Owners in U.S.
>> From gamedaily.com:
Microsoft's Halo 3 is a monster. When it launched back in September, the game sold a whopping 3.3 million units in the U.S. More recently, Microsoft Corporate VP of Global Marketing Jeff Bell, revealed that Bungie's masterpiece had surpassed five million units sold worldwide.

A closer look at the data from The NPD Group through November shows that 4.1 million copies have been sold in the U.S. With 7.9 million Xbox 360s purchased in the U.S. to date, some simple math indicates that an impressive 52 percent of all Xbox 360 owners in America have picked up Halo 3.
