Microsoft Xbox 360

To mark the fifth anniversary of the Xbox Live service, Microsoft will be offering Carcassonne (Hexic 2 in Korea) free to all subscribers for 48 hours starting at 12:01 a.m. EST on Nov. 15th (and presumably nothing to the peeps who already plunked down for the virtual board game), along with 500 Microsoft Points to the ten folks who've been on board since 2002 -- see kids, early adoption does pay off! In addition, Microsoft has confirmed earlier reports that 'Xbox Originals' will be made available for download starting Dec. 4th as part of the Fall Update (the update's additional features have yet to be revealed). Each game can be purchased and downloaded for 1200 points ($15).

In its press release, Microsoft explicitly named Halo, Psychonauts, Crimson Skies and Fable as titles for the Xbox Originals initiative, but did not confirm exactly which games will serve as the jumpoff: "This new service will launch with an array of blockbuster titles spanning the most popular genres from action-adventure to classic role-playing games." Third-party reports claim the preliminary lineup will include Halo, Fable, Indigo Prophecy, Crimson Skies, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex and Burnout 3.
 
Amazing how different TVs make such a big difference in image quality... I've been in this thread telling people to switch to the VGA cable for about six months, such is the difference in quality on my Samsung R74 television - then my dad goes and gets a Toshiba WLT68 for his bedroom and component is just the same as VGA, no difference whatsoever. Also, HDMI looks great on the Toshiba (although not a big improvement), whereas it looks utter shite on the Samsung.

But there's more motion blur on the Toshiba during games, I notice no motion blur whatsoever on the Samsung. Freeview quality is great on the WLT68, games are fantastic on the R74.

So I still prefer mine. :)
 
Try playing with the 100hz technology ont he WLT68 and see how that goes, it might be better off?
 
embrace... yep read this article and to be honest I think that is a bit of a shame. I know they are Xbox Originals but they have taken other Old Skool games, released them on Live Arcade and they have achievments... Want incentive will people have to play all the old classics again?

I get the incentive part, although I do consider it very much a superficial way to make a game last longer. I dont bother with them myself........and if i tried to brag about it I think my GF would dump me for the sad bastard that would make me :D
 
My girlfriend didn't want to play on the PS3 or Wii because it didn't have achievements ;) I guess some people like being congratulated or something? I like unlocking stuff, always have done. So when I get an achievement it makes me feel all warm inside :)
 
The achievements system is very rewarding. I wish my partner loved playing video games like your girlfriends! :(

She doesn't love playing them, just the odd few that catch her attention. Crackdown, Viva Pinata and Tomb Raider spring to mind.

Yeah I wonder what that is gonna be. Could be like a tv bar coming in at the bottom of the screen and then going again or maybe while loading getting to see an add. Hopefully it will be restricted to arcade games and the like as i would hate to see advertisement break up a games atmosphere during a loading screen.
 
I am not going to be happy if I put Call Of Duty 4 in and I get a "join the army" advert and a "genuine army watches from Schweizerkopen" advert between games.

Not good.

I like that update. XviD support is nice, animated themes, publishers notifying of game updates, estimated download timer too (though why this wasn't there at the start I don't know).
 
I am almost certain that list of updates isn't correct.

the chatpad now works with messenger? Did it not before? The things been out for months.

I call shenanigans
