Microsoft Xbox 360

I've now got a Premium and, although HDMI looks SLIGHTLY nicer, I wouldn't go crazy over it.

You can connect your HDD to any 360 you want. So just keep your own HDD's and you'll both be happy :)

Faceplates can be swapped easy enough, they just clip on and off.

HDMI looks brighter than Component, but I cant compare to VGA which alot of people rate better than HDMI and Component. As Snoop says the HDD, just click and lift, and only the faceplate of the console can be changed easily, thus a white front and green sides you would be lift with. Does the Halo Console look that bad? I actually think it looks ok, but I went for an Elite as I wanted the bigger HDD.

Gutted, don't think I'll have the money for anymore games this month :( Got Orange Box on its way to me so that'll have to do. Not sure what I'll be able to buy next month either with having to buy Christmas presents being the priority :(

Haven't got much worth giving in that I'd be prepared to give. Off the top of my head, the games I have are:

Skate (not played enough to trade away)
FIFA 08
Bioshock (not completed yet)
Rainbow Six Vegas (uncompleted)
Test Drive Unlimited (not even opened, I could trade this in)
PGR4
Perfect Dark Zero (could trade in but will get pennies for it)
Ghost Recon 1 (pennies again)
Guitar Hero 2 (not going anywhere)

So I'm pretty stuck for trades.

Easy 3 there

Bioshock (not completed yet)
Rainbow Six Vegas (uncompleted)
Test Drive Unlimited (not even opened, I could trade this in)

Bioshock its pretty much the same all the way through so you aint missing anything, COD4 is the new Rainbow 6 so you wont be needing that and Test Drive is very very boring in the latter stages (millionaires challange ect) and is a very old game

Sorted :)

Nah, I'd like to complete Bioshock before trading it, the story is pretty good and I've spent enough time on it to just trade it away.

Vegas is a great game, different to COD4 in that it's much slower paced (which I like) but it is a possibility.

TDU can go, I've had it for two months or so and not even opened it. With me owning PGR4, I'm not sure I'll bother with TDU.

Interestingly CEX will give me £276 in trade for my PS3. I keep pondering the idea of selling it and have been thinking about it for a while now but I'd be well jealous when Little Big Planet and others come out and I don't have my PS3. But there's too many games this month alone that I want, and I haven't turned on my PS3 since I got my 360 two months ago ...

I would get rid of your PS3 if not playing on it, the longer you leave it the more the price will drop there only £299 new on play anyway probably less on ebay

oh and dont get me wrong Vegas i one of my favourite games ever but its just not gonna get played once COD4 becuase everyone will be on that

the numbers online on Rainbow 6 are dropping fast and have been for a while

Aye, I might take it to Gamestation over the weekend and get COD4 and the rest in credit. CEX will give me £273 in exchange but they don't get games on release day AFAIK. Only problem is Game can be expensive (they wanted £45 for FIFA and Skate on release day).

This Wednesday: Switchball and Word Puzzle [verb] XBLA
switchball-word-puzzle.jpg

It's hard to believe that the seemingly innocuous phrase, "having a ball," could be tinged with cruelty. You see, the life of a nondescript videogame ball is actually quite miserable, rife with surreal landscapes, tilting mazes and suspiciously long half-pipes that only lead to pointless goals. Sierra Online's graphically splendid Switchball only exacerbates this sad state of affairs, featuring a shiny sphere capable of changing its physical properties (to overcome puzzles!), but not its emotional state. If you spend 800 MS Points ($10) on it this Wednesday, consider how you'd feel if tears rolled down your cheek and up the back of your head.

Hitting Xbox Live Arcade on the same day is Word Puzzle, a game that primarily deals with the useful thingamabobs that made this sentence possible. For 800 MS Points, you'll receive "intricate 3D boards," Vision camera support and the chance to use "exploding word bombs." Those should give the stereotypical Halo crowd a head start, at least.

Xbox 360 Parental Timer Confirmed?

Recent news via fan site Xbox Today lends more credibility to rumors that Microsoft will be including a "parental timer" feature in its next Xbox 360 firmware update. Crecente dropped word of the new restriction feature back in September, but details from Microsoft have been scarce. A TeamXbox forumite, however, found unofficial confirmation of the parental timer in a Guitar Hero III keychain, of all places, which came packaged with an informative pamphlet (the best kind). The feature is said to allow parents to "manage [time] in daily or weekly increments" and be ready for a December 2007 launch. I expect the new feature to lead to even more abusive demands for chocolate milk from mom while playing Halo 3 online and epithets delivered with speedy efficiency.

Up to you mate but i am keeping mine as there are enough games on the PS3 t warrant keeping it but each to there own i guess.

For me 360 only has Mass Effect left to interest me the rest are on PS3

;)

Had no offers from advertising it on HUKD and AVForums, surprising I suppose. I might just stop being greedy and get one game a month or something. I don't HAVE to get all of the November games in November I suppose ...

Still Rumoured DIVX on Xbox 360 falll update.

Hot on the heels of a PS3 DivX rumor, DivX has pretty much pilled the beans on upcoming support on the Xbox 360. Here's the clip from a routine financial earnings call that's set the rumor mill ablaze:

Coster - "Just a minor point here, but there was a recent Microsoft (MSFT) conference where I believe their media extender now incorporates the DivX codec on it, is that correct? Can you confirm that and does that mean we're soon going to see Xboxes with DivX on them?

Hell - "Yes! that, uh, we're in discussions with Microsoft on that at this point in time, so I can't go into any great detail on that. Um that is not a certified, that is not a certified or licensed product at this time."
Hit the link for the audio, which is supposed to be super awkward after the news slips. Ahh, nothing like a little tension in the boardroom to make a Friday fly by

I think DivX is old-school now, who cares really!

With most people now using HDTVs with their XBox360s, what we need is native mkv support, and 5.1 support with the h264 codec!

:)

http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZlstkcm1a Hey guys, I think someone posted this here a whle ago... just wondering if its reliable. Theyre selling COD 4 multi region for a total of £26 to be delivered in 7 days.... thats a GREAT deal!

Although I agree, Divx will be a HUGE addon. Loads of video files available... *not so legitimately* come in AVI. This is especially true if youre a newsgroups user or if youre simply ripping your own dvds! Imagine how simple it would be to hook up tv shows through an ipod or a divx disc!

I can see what you mean, but with not much HD material coming out in DivX anymore, all Hd material is x264 and the XBox360 can play that (albeit with only 2.0 audio)...

Anybody having Xbox Live problems tonight?

I'm trying to get a game of CoD4 and every time I try to connect I get a message saying "you need a network to play online" - erm, okay, I'm signed into Xbox Live so what's the problem?

It's taking 30 seconds to sign in as well, I'm presuming something's wrong (my internet connection is working fine).

I've posted about that guy LOADS of times mate, I've used him before and he's reliable and usually gets games to me in four days. Prices have gone up though it seems :(

Some Lucky Guys:

Apparently someone over at UK retailer Tesco slipped up on the company's online store, because an Xbox 360 bundle normally priced at £340 GBP was selling for just a hair over 33 pounds sterling, long enough for a number of customers to gleefully order the next-gen system at the no-gen price.

Sky News reports that once the payment is accepted, Trading Standards rules in the UK state that the retailer must comply and deliver the product. Numerous payments were accepted for the drastically-reduced Xbox 360 bundle, which also includes Forza Motorsport 2 and Viva Piñata. One crafty consumer successfully ordered 39 consoles, although no orders have yet been delivered.

Despite the rules set forth by Trading Standards, Tesco's site maintains that they do not have to conform to erroneously-marked prices unless they fail to notice before shipment. We'll wait and see if any lucky gamers get their cheapo 360s in the mail. Think anyone sprung for overnight shipping?

The autumn update for the Xbox 360 Dashboard will take place on 4th December.

Microsoft reportedly confirmed the news to the Official Xbox Magazine, and revealed its biggest new feature as a service to let you download original Xbox titles like Halo.

Eventually it will make as much of its back catalogue available as possible, but for now the line-up includes Halo, Fable, Fahrenheit, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and Burnout 3.

Each game will cost 1200 Microsoft Points (GBP 10.20 / EUR 13.96).

MS also shed some light on its European video on demand service, which will unfortunately not be included in the 4th December update.

However, big studios like Warner Bros. are apparently signing up for the rental service, which lets you download and watch your favourite films in 720p.

You should realise that once you have downloaded a film you can have it for two weeks, and once you begin watching it you will have a day to finish it - it will delete itself after that.

Further details will be forthcoming, and we will let you know when we hear more.

Thats a bit crap - if you have paid to rent it you should be able to watch it as many times as you want in a given time space.
